According to site, my muting and screen rotation are tied together for some strange reason...was this a very recent update? Because until yesterday I did not have a problem.
The option to use slide bar for either mute or screen rotation is ridiculous...why are these two functions ties together??
Now, if I want audio on most of my apps and games I need to lock rotation??? When did this start?? I was playing games with audio and screen rotation up until yesterday afternoon...10/11/12

The functions are not tied together.
You can select what function you want the external switch to control: rotation, or mute.
Whichever function you assign to the external switch the other function is available via a software switch which can be displayed by double-clicking the Home button and swiping the displayed recent Apps tray to the right.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

Cannot download and install printer software through app store for OS 10.8.5?

I have a MBP 15" Bought in late 2012. It is running 10.8.5.
I am trying to connect to the printer at my office, an HP CM4730 MFP.
When I go through the steps to add a new printer, I get to the message:
"Software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?"
I click on 'Download and Install" and the systems startes to search for the software, however, every time i get the following message:
Setting up ‘HP Color LaserJet CM4730 MFP [15A0C9]…’
Can't install the software for the Hewlett-Packard HP Color LaserJet CM4730 MFP because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.
Can anyone out there point me in the right direction to get this installed.

Cannot drag and drop file from photos app to photoshop

Hi,
I'm trying to open a file saved in my Photos library in Photoshop. Previously in iPhoto I could drag and drop the file to open in other applications including Photoshop but this functionality appears to be missing in the new Photos app. Am i missing something? Or is there another way to do it?

I am stuck in the same place. Perhaps we could work on this together.
I am trying to drag a single item from a JList to a text editor, Word, etc. I have two problems:
1) I can't seem to get just the item in the JList to drag. It wants to drag the entire JList component.
2) How does one define the remote application as the drop target? Have not found any examples either.
Is the drop target actually the system clipboard?

HT4743 My copy of Hide (Doctor Who, Season 7 part 2, has bad audio and I cannot delete and re-download. How do I fix this?

I have the season pass to Doctor Who season 7 part 2 and just downloaded Hide, but the audio is VERY messed up. How can this be fixed?

MacBook pro 2009 is slow and freezing after installing mountain lion. Cannot get iPhoto to open fully, other apps are freezing.

Help! I thought I was doing the right thing by installing Mountain Lion on my 2009 MacBook Pro. It took forever to download correctly and now it is performing so poorly (freezing during applications, have to use force quit, have to use power button to shut it down, etc.) that I wish I never installed it! I want my old operating system back!

Boot in safe mode.* This will cause certain caches maintained by the system to be rebuilt. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot than normal.
When the login screen appears, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.

This is a big issue, there is a workaround though and some of you may not like it, but here it is and you can decide. It would appear that in order to centre an image in ios7 you need to create a canvas larger than the image. It would appear that Apple have used the 1680 by 1050 format. My recommendation is to create a canvas of 1536 pixels by 1040 pixels and then centre an image of your choice of 1024 by 768 pixels if you wish to see your image in the horizontal format. If you want to view your wallpaper image in the portrait orientation I would recommend an image no larger than 768 pixels wide. Yes, you can. You can configure the Side Switch (above the volume button) either as Mute switch or Rotation lock.
Settings > General > Use Side Switch to: choose what you like the Side Switch to function as.

If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. I have experienced this on iPad 1 as well as iPad 2.
Basically, when you set the side switch to toggle screen orientation (or mute), after a period of use I will have either my sound cease to function or the ipad screen will not orient correctly. This depends on what i have chosen the side switch to toggle. I am not sure what causes it. The time it takes for the problem to appear is inconsistent. Some say it is caused by third party applications.
One can find numerous threads on here if you search for "sound on my ipad stopped working" or "orientation not working". It appears to be the same problem. Fudging with the toggle switch settings can fix it (but it takes a weird order to get it out of its non functioning loop).

Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

I upgraded to ISO 7. Some of the apps are not w orking properly. Example: Text is to large and cannot fit the screen and cannot be reduced. Other apps will no longer rotate. Need a fix.

I have found that the rotation from portrait to landscape is broken on some apps. That's not iOS 7's fault, it's the App designer. I have a fairly popular app that got updated the day before iOS 7 came out, presumably it was iOS 7 friendly. But no, it doesn't do landscape. Completely incompetent App designers to make that egregious of an error.
You can contact the designer of each of your apps. It's not Apple's problem.
