Nothing you can do, sorry to say.  If it will not turn on there is absolutely nothing you can do now to backup what is on it.  The whole point of a backup is to have made it before disaster strikes.  Now, with a dead iPhone, all you can do is accept the loss of your data.
You will be able to re-download iTunes and App store purchases since they are tied to your AppleID, not your device.
Have you been using iCloud for backup?  If you have, then you should have a backup in iCLoud you can use to restore your replacement phone with.  iCloud backups are automatic (once every 24hrs, whenever your device is on wifi, plugged in and asleep).

Hello m.goo, and a warm welcome to the forums!
To eject the Disc, hold the Mouse button down, (or what passes for it on a Laptop), while powering up, if you also hold the Option key down at the same time it should eject & give you a chance to insert your install disc & wait for it to shw as a Boot option.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc , then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
If it appears to be time for An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, APPs, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

It may be in the process of making room.  What version of OSX are you on?    (That process can be excruciatingly slow on Leopard or Snow Leopard backups over a network;  Lion has improved it greatly.)
A clue may be lurking in your logs.  Use the widget in #A1 of  Time Machine - Troubleshooting to display the backup messages from your logs.   That should help you figure out what's going on.  If in doubt, copy and post them here (but if the same ones repeat over and over, drop most of the duplicates).
If you can, connect via Ethernet; it will be 2-3 times faster.

Because you need to buy iLife 08 or newer on DVD first. If you're using iDVD 05, you probably have a PowerPC Mac and can't use iLife 11.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
If this doesn't work then you will need to erase the drive and install Snow Leopard from scratch:
    Erase and Install Snow Leopard
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. When completed quit DU and complete the Snow Leopard installation.

  • My ipod screen just turned blank white randomly and now it won't turn off/reset or connect to the computer... need help

my screen just turned blank white randomly and now it won't turn off/reset or connect to a computer or really do anything... need help.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Been given an iphone 4 by a friend and need to unlock so can use my own SIM

I was given an iphone 4 by a friend but upon putting my SIM in, I realised he'd not unlocked the phone! He isn't able to unlock the phone via his contract (he has a new iphone) because the IMEI isn't showing on his account and it tries to unlock his current (in contract) phone. So, I've read and been told some conflicting advice. Another friend told me she had to pay Apple £50 at a store to unlock her iphone she bought secondhand that was locked. Some other forums are quoting £20+ to have it unlocked, and I've read elsewhere still, that it will cost £9. So I'm confused!! What's right?? Do I need to pay as it's an old phone, no longer on any contract, not registered anywhere (my friend who gave it to me couldn't find it on his account). Do I need to get an EE PAYG SIM and get the iphone registered to me? Will that work? Once I do that, and if I decide I want to go back to my current provider (Vodafone), can I simply request an unlock via the online forms? I shouldn't be tied in to a fixed term if i'm not a customer currently and I used a PAYG SIM, am I right? I'd appreciate some clarification please. It seems that both Apple and EE aren't the easist to get an unlock from! Never had an iphone before so had no idea it was like Fort Knox to get out of!! Thank you in advance - a newbie iphone owner and non EE customer

It costs £8.99 to unlock a device from EE there are a number of options that you might be able to use to get your device unlocked.
    But first this.
Only contract devices have to be used for 6 months first before requesting a unlock. PAYG, Sim only or secondhand devices this rule doesn't apply.
1, If you still with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the unlocking request form with your details. Any phone that was replaced by insurance you will need to let EE know that it was a replacement device if your still in contract. You can also unlock an old device if you have a upgrade device on your account just fill out the request form with your details and the phone number you used with this device. It doesn't matter if you use this number on a new device now.
2, If you already have an account with EE and you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device lock to EE and you would like it unlocked you just need to use your Sim card in the device so the IMEI number gets registered to your account. Once your account has the IMEI number on it you can the fill out the online unlock request form.
3, If you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device and don't have a EE/Orange/T-Mobile account and you don't want to use the EE networks you need to get a PAYG SIM card and set up an account. Top-up the account to £8.99 to pay the unlock fee than fill out the online unlock request form.
(If using a PAYG you must make sure that the £8.99 is on your account when EE take the payment if it's not your device will not get unlocked and EE will not inform you that the unlock request has failed. It's you job to make sure the cedit is there when EE go to take it they will not inform you when there going to take it)
    Or
4, A non EE customer can take the device to your local EE store and request the unlock from there it will still cost £8.99 and it still takes 7 to 10 days
5, If you would like a device unlocked and you are no longer with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the online unlock request form using the number that you used with that device on EE/Orange/T-Mobile. EE will unlock devices that are up to 10 years old that were used on their network. You will still be billed to unlock the device.
6, If you have brought or thinking about buying a 2nd hand device and you are not in the UK you are going to find it very hard to get a device unlocked when you setup an account you need a UK address also you will need to get a PAYG SIM card but you will also need to find away of topping up the account with GBP, if you can not do any of this the device will not get unlocked there are no exceptions.
Click here for the online unlock request form

  • My 3GS won't turn on after Restoring it to my new 4S

I have just bought a brand new 4S 16Gb today & successfully Backed up my old 3GS to iTunes and then used this to 'Restore' my new 4S.
My problem is that my 3GS will not turn on now, all I get is the Apple logo on the screen as if I had done a cold boot (lock & home buttons) but it sticks on that screen. When I connect it to my Mac the same screen appears & iTunes doesn't pick up the device.
I was under the impression that I could continue to use my old 3GS as an 'iPod touch' as I want to keep my TomTom satnav app on the 3GS (due to the connection issues the 4S has with the TomTom iPhone car cradle) but now I'm stuck!
If it helps, right after I 'backed up' my 4S I was able to use the 3GS to delete all the apps (apart from TomTom) and also disable iMessages and remove my Mail & Twitter accounts from the phone. I have since turned it off & my issue has arisen.

There must be a SIM card in the iPhone, but I doubt that is the issue as it would atleast boot up but would give a SIM error.
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and then restore it via iTunes.
