HT4241 No signal on external monitor with HDMI on MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)

HI i have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011). some days ago i connected it to my LG plasma 60" with HDMI. i used the DVI --> HDMI converter from apple. the it worked fine and i could se films om the tv. but now nothing happens when i connect the mac. help??

Hello,
I had this problem with y Macbook Air and an Asus LED monitor 21.5". The very first time I tried the two together, it worked perfectly. The second time it didn't work and I tried different things to make that "No HDMI signal" go away.
The only thing that worked for me was connecting both devices OFF, once connected I turned the monitor ON first and then started my Macbook Air.
I really hope this helps some of you.
Good luck

  • Macbook Pro 13-inch Late 2011 with constant Spinning Wheel of Death (SWOD)

    Hi Guys!
I really have a problem with the Spinning Wheel of Death and slow performance all the time. It suddently started after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.
These are the things i've tried so far:
    - Boot up in Safe Mode and Internet Recovery Mode to repair disc permissions and disc = No Errors found at all
    - Used SMARTreporter but everything returned as OK
    - Installed 16GB of ram installed
    - Looked in Activity Monitor, but everything appears to be okay with both RAM, CPU and HD
    - Boot with Apple Hardware Test = Everything OK
    - Booted up in Internet Recovery and erased the entire HD, clean installed OS X Lion (the OS i bought the Macbook Pro with)
First i thought it was a problem with my HD or my RAM. But everything is returning the OK result. I really hope some of you out there can help me, cause right now its realy hard to use it at the University. It looks like its a software problem, but i can't figure it out.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. It will be slow, but there should be no beachballing. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • MacBook Pro (15 -inch, Late 2011) with SATA II SSD by Apple?

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro (15 -inch, Late 2011), ordered in April 2012, with a 512GB SSD. This is an original Apple branded Toshiba SSD and chosen on order.
Now I found out that it is only a SATA II SSD which is connected to the SATA 6G Chipset port.
I called the Hotline, just to clarify if it is normal to build in older standards or by accident. The guy told me, that his hardware supervisor mentioned, that it is impossible to run a SATA II SSD on a SATA 6G port which is totally nonsense. I'm a litte bit confused about the statement and would like to know if anybody else with an original SSD, ordered with a late 2011 MacBook Pro, has build in such old stuff.
    Kind regards,
    Michael

No read/write issues, just the question why apple build in a "slower" SSD than the controller is capable of.
Would be faster with a SATA 6Gb SSD particularly when you have to run four virtual machines at the same time.

Download and intall the Windows Support software. You can start Bootcamp Assistant again and only select the option to download the support software. Then follow the instructions to save and install the support software.
Or, manually download the support software here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/downloads/.

  • Macbook Pro 15-inch, Late 2011. I'm 100% certain that I bought it with the AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5. It says that I have HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. WHY?

I don't understand why my MacBook Pro 15-inch, Late 2011 version is reporting to me that I only have the Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB card in it. Why is this? When I bought it I was given the choice to choose between the 500 mb or 1 GB video card and I chose to pay extra in order to get the 1 GB, but now it says that I don't even have that( I can't find it anywhere). I never realized this until now. I was just looking at my specs again to make sure if my Macbook Pro was ready for the upcoming Mountain Lion OS. Please help me understand why this is happening. I'm 100% certain I bought the 1GB video Card and that my mac is supposed to have a quad core processor. I also ordered with the highest resolution screen available at that time which was something like an extra $100. I made sure that I had these extras because I wanted a mac that was going to perform great and not skip a beat. I have noticed it's been skipping here and there and I have been surpirsed at how slow it can get sometimes. I only have 4 GB ram at the moment, but I know that I can upgrade to 16 GB if I need to and have been contemplating on whether i should or not. I also like to do some gaming when I have the extra time and I've noticed that sometimes it has a hard time with some games. I bought this mac around January of this year. Is it possible that there was just a mess up in the shipping on the extras I had added? Thank you for your help.

  • Graphics issues with MacBook Pro 15-inch Late 2011 model

I have a MB Pro 15-inch late 2011 (2.4GHz Core i7) and recently I started to get random screen glitches while working on photoshop and illustrator and then eventually the screen went totally blank and so I paid to have the graphics chip replaced (as I was out of warranty).
After 2 weeks, the same glitches have started again so I did some internet research and discovered that that there are thousands of other people around the world who had similar issues in this particular model range that uses the AMD Graphics chipset (Radeon HD 6770M) combined with the Intel HD Graphics 3000 on the same motherboard.
Does anyone know if Apple has announced a recall / replacement programme for this model as it appears to be a widespread issue ?
    Thanks
    Rohit

There is an online campaign at change.org which has crossed 10,000 signatories (or is about to) that should prove that there is an issue.
From my analysis, the problem is the AMC Radeon GPU that is the problem - there is some compatibility issue with the logic board. I just paid to get the problem solved, but it has come back again in less than a a week. I installed gfcCardStatus to control which graphics chips are being used and found that when the Intel HD chipset is used, there is no issue, but when it switches to the AMD chipset, the problem returns.
There is certainly an issue and it's widespread and I am sure that this will come back to bite apple in the ***...
I think their issue is probably that the fault lies in AMD's chips and not their circuitry which is probably why they don't want to bear the cost of a recall program unless AMD contribute to the costs...which they won't because Apple have pretty much stopped using AMD GPUs and use nVidia instead now.
Anyway, I'm going to go back to the repair folks and have them re-fix the issue as it's covered by their warranty. Let me know if you have any more luck on your end.

  • External Monitor with 13" i7 Macbook Pro

Hi, i recently purchased a lg 23 inch monitor. I used a mini display port to hdmi adapter to connect the display to the macbook. The display settings would not let me choose the native 1920 . 1080 resolution of the lg monitor. Only when using second display instead of mirror function it would work. But i only want to have the monitor display whats on the macbook screen. When in mirrored mode, it would show the resolution of the macbook, and i tried 3rd party applications like SwitchResX and that didnt work. Is it because i was using hdmi, as the macbook only recognised the monitor as a hd tv and not a external display? would it work with DVI cables instead of hdmi?
    Thanks.

I think I know what you want, because I have a similar setup.
Do this: Get a mini-display port to DVI adapter and a DVI cable.
Make sure mirroring mode is off and set the monitors to their native resolution. Under system preferences -> displays preference, select the arrangement tab. Grab and drag the white bar from the top of the smaller blue screen to the larger screen. This will designate the other screen as your main desktop. Now all your desktop icons will be on your LG monitor and your MBP will be an extended desktop.
In my setup, I use the wireless keyboard and trackpad and close my MBP. This only leaves my external monitor as my only desktop.

  • How can I use my Late 2009 iMac as an external monitor with my new MacBook Pro 15" Retina

I want to use my iMac (Late 2009) as an external Display for my new 15" MacBook Pro Retina, I need to know what Cables to use so I can go buy them the Apple Store, I already tried a thunderbolt cable between the two and that doesn't work, but I think this might
              iMAC                                                                                 MBP 15" Retina
Mini display Port to VGA adaptor -> VGA Cable -> Mini Display Cable to VGA adaptor
    or maybe
Mini Display port to HDMI adaptor -> HDMI Cable -> HDMI Port on MBP
Pleae help I can't seem to figure it out online.
    Thanks!

    Hello, All-
I too am very interested in the answer to this query. Same set up, same fail w/the Thunderbolt cable. The Genius Bar at the Apple Store was no help & recommended I bring my 27" iMac into the store...seriously? Their ultimate answer was that I needed a plain old male-male mini display port cable....that the Thunderbolt cable was the problem. Bloody unlikely, I say. Another guy in the store agreed with me this morning, so swapped out the cable. I was hoping upon hope it was a bad cable, but no such luck—still nothing. Next I tried a mini-display-port-to-DVI adapter—DVI cable—mini-display-port-to-DVI adapter. This also did not work. Is there a chance that the iMac running Snow Leopard and the MacBook running Mountain Lion is the problem???

  • External monitor ghosting: Samsung TA350 & MacBook Pro 2011

I'm happy with the picture quality, but moving anything around on screen creates a horrible ghosting effect. This is particularly noticeable when watching videos or scrolling text.
    Can somebody suggest a solution?
    My set-up:
    Mac OS Lion
    MacBook Pro 13 inch, mid-2011
Samsung SyncMaster TA350, 24-inch external monitor
    My connection:
    Amazon Basics HDMI/DVI cable
Apple DVI to Mini Displayport adapter
    Thanks a lot!

I bought a SendStation HDMI to Mini Displayport cable a couple of hours ago. It didn't improve anything.
It seems like a software/configuration problem.

  • HT201300 What cable should be used to connect a macbook pro, 13 inch early 2011 model to an external projector so it will display the computer screen image through the projector?

What cable should be used to connect a macbook pro, 13 inch, early 2011 model to an external projector so the project displays the image on the computer screen?

You will need a cable or adapter with a minidisplay connection for the MBP.  That will be inserted in the Thunderbolt port.  The other end is dependent upon the connections of the projector which you have not listed.
    Ciao.

  • Logic board for MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011) has broken with no reason

I have MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011), i bought it 2 years ago, and few weeks ago suddenly my mac stop working, so i forced shut down. Then i started to use it again and my mac stop working again (it happende more than 3 times). So, i decided to bring it to the service center. After a week in the assistant diagnose my mac, they said my logic board has broken (failure), but when i asked what's the reason, they only say it had just broken and there's no reason behind that. The only way to fix it is only to replace my logic board with the new one.
Because my macbook doesn't registered in Apple Care protection, I need to pay around $1000 if i want to replace my logic board. It's really expensive and dissapointed with apple because the low quality for the macbook.
They said there's a lot of case like this with the mac book pro. I reaaaaaaaaaaaaally dissapointed . Is it really there's a lot of case like this?

Logic boards can and do fail, it does happen, just as in any other type of device, components break.
Where did you bring it to, a repair shop, or an AppleStore Genius Bar? Are you in the U.S.?
I recently had a LB replaced in the states at an Apple store 2010 15" MBP, I fortunately did have AppleCare so there was no charge. But the work order did have the price it would have cost had I not had AppleCare, it was
    Part Logic Board $487.50
    Labor $39.00
    Plus tax
No where near the $1,000.00 you were quoted, that's why I ask where you brought it to, as well as where you are located. If you are in the States, and it is not an Apple store and some repair shop, run away from them, they are trying to rob you. Try an Apple store if you are in the States, you may also ask about the flat rate repair policy. If you are located elsewhere then I can not speak for the repair price. (Though it does seem high)
