HT4254 I cannot connect my magic trackpad to my macbook

My macbook is not detecting the new magic trackpad.

Which OS are you on?  The trackpad requires 10.6.4 or later.  If you are later versions of Snow Leopard or Lion, go to System Preferences > Trackpad > turn off the trackpad by holding the power button on the right side for 5 seconds, then tap the button once to turn on.  The green light should flash and be detected.

  • Cannot pair my magic trackpad to my iMac

    It looks like a simple problem;
I own a 27" iMac [late 2013]. Since a few weeks I have serious problems with pairing my Magic Trackpad.
It is no longer possible to connect to my iMac.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
    Kind regards,

  • Whenever I connected my Magic Mouse to my Macbook pro retina, the Internet doesn't right away...

Whenever I connected my Magic Mouse to my Macbook Pro Retina, the Internet does't work right away,
and while I disconnected the Mouse, it works immediately......
Does anyone has the same prob. or know why it happens?
Please help me out and thanks for your kindness!

But I tested, I clicked a link and it started loading, and when I got the Mouse connected, it stops the process and got stuck...
And I clicked a link again, now with the mouse connected, it stuck forever, and when disconnected the mouse, it immediately works!

If you can get them paired again try making them "favorites" from the Bluetooth system preferences.
Try smc and pram reset too.  May gave to do this before you can get them paired.

I just migrated from MacBook 13' OSX 10.6.8 to MacBook Pro 15' Retina OSX 10.8.2 with the use of Migration Assistant. When attempting to install my Magic Trackpad, the Bluetooth Assistant mentions "name not available" so that the device cannot be detected.  In have disconnected the firewall. Thanks for assistance.

  • I cannot connect my apple trackpad to my iMac using Mavericks.

Ok, I am reading A LOT of issues with Mavericks. I am tempted toi go back to lion or snow leapord. This is shameful on Apple's part. Safari is unuseable. hard drives drop on setstart
And now I cannot connect my apple track pad. No matter what I do, It will not connect. I have read re-installing the OS will work, which means I have to re-install everytghing. Not happy. At this rate I might as well run windows 8.

um... having to update most of the system software is still incredibly time consuming, and I already did it once. Problem persists. Mavericks is fail. Period. The ONLY thing that made paying the premium for a mac WAS the OS. Now? Taking this heap back tomorrow and getting a PC. If I have to trouble shoot this much it would be better if I save money and can play games. Apparently with the death of Jobs so to does the OS die.

  • Anyone else with a Magic Trackpad and a MacBook Pro?

So I just got the Magic Trackpad thinking I would have the same experience as my internal trackpad, only on my desktop. But I was wrong...and was wondering if anyone else noticed this...
I love the multitouch gestures, but it just feels so weird. Maybe the pad is too large?
The main problem I have with it is the click. it does not seem to "click" very much. I was bummed to see that the clicking is done all my the little two feet.
If you compare the click to the internal trackpad compared to the external Magic Trackpad, there is a big difference. The MBP click is more "clicky" and easy to do. The Magic Trackpad is more harder to click. Almost mushy. It is quieter though. But I almost prefer the loud CLICK sound from my MBP.
I also found there are two things you can do to change the performance of this click issue. You can either put things under the two feet (like I used two coins) and that kind of helps it clicker deeper, but then it slides around on your desk. (I'm going to look for those little stick-on rubber stoppers like you put on your kitchen cabinet doors to see if that helps any) The other thing I've tried is just using the tap to click and raising the trackpad up so the feet don't even touch the table. Now there is no "click" at all. The touch to click works fine, but then when it comes to cretin things when you are used to clicking, it just doesn't work out.
So my question is, has anyone else noticed this? Maybe I got a defective pad and that is why I am having such a hard time clicking?
I welcome any comments, reviews, etc. relating to this Magic Pad click issue.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I recently got a Magic Trackpad. The click pressure was too much so I set it to tap to click and liked it, although it was a little too sensitive for me and I don't know how to set the sensitivity.
Now I went on a trip with only my older MBP and I find it is extremely sensitive, I constantly find I seem to have clicked where I didn't intend to. The system preference doesn't have the option to turn the tap to click off without the trackpad connected.
    I consider this a bug!
    Am I wrong?
When your Magic Trackpad is on and connected to your MBP the settings for it will appear in system preferences.
If you turn off your Magic Trackpad to disconnect it from your MBP, the the settings that show up in System Prefs are for the INTERNAL trackpad.
Kinda confusing. They should just have two tabs at the top where you can set different settings for each trackpad.

  • Making Magic Trackpad like my Macbook trackpad

I have a Macbook Pro and an iMac using a Magic Trackpad. I find it irritating and unproductive (as I have to think each time I use multi-touch which "language" I have to speak) that they have different multi-touch gestures and I'd like to make them the same. I've looked but I can't find any Magic Trackpad making the gestures the same as the Macbook. Any suggestions?

Ah, now I understand the issue,
Look below each of the options and you can select 3 or 4 fingers.  Just click the down arrow next to the description for other options.  If you set 3 finger drag on the Point & Click tab, all the other 3 finger gestures will change to 4 finger automatically.  If you want to turn off or on the double tap and drag function, it's in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > Trackpad options.. button > Dragging.

  • Cannot connect (or very, very slow) to MacBook pro (1,1) as registered user

I have a Macbook Pro running Lion and a Mac Pro running lion - as well as a Macbook Pro (1,1) running Snow Leopard (although the problem also occurred in Leopard too, as I updated the OS to see if that would resolve it).
The problem is that I can connect from the SL MBP to the other computers on my network as a registered user (and see all of the files there), but when I try to connect from either of the other machines running Lion (10.7.5), I can connect as a Guest, but not as any of the registered users.
I get the connect as a registered user dialog, enter the valid info...and then the wheel of death appears in the box and nothing happens for a few minutes...then presto, I'm connected as the registered user.
Why is it not instanteous (as it is in reverse or between the Lion machines)?
What can I do to make it faster?
    Thanks
    Scott

    Hi robfromkinglake west,
Try and isolate the issue.  Check if it's only with this drive.
Check the drive with Disk Utility

I've never seen a drive take 20 minutes to mount.

  • Cannot connect my powerbook G4 with my MacBook Pro for filesharing

I was wondering if anyone knew the problem was if when i used MIGRATION ASSISTANT between the two computers and the G4 was not reading on the MacBook Pro. Is there something wrong with my computer or is there some way to fix this?
When I held down the T button to restart and connect the two, nothing happened.

    Hi peawok
Can you clarify what it is that you're doing?
Are you rebooting the Powerbook, holding down T from the moment the screen goes black until (and if) you see the Firewire symbol on its screen? Do you see the symbol?
Or are you doing the above for the Macbook?
If you do see the symbol, and you've connected the two with a Firewire cable, do you see the drive of one computer appear on the other's desktop? If not, have you tried a different cable?
If you're just doing this for filesharing purposes, is there a reason why you can't use an ethernet/wireless network (and use Personal File Sharing under System Preferences - Sharing)?

  • HT1338 cannot connect Bose Sound Link speakers to macbook pro retina

I'm trying to use my Bose Sound Link Bluetooth speaker with my Mac Book Pro Retina.  Bluetooth says linked, but will not connect.
Bose Web site says consult Mac documentation and try again.

Look what I found in another post. It worked!

Re: I am having problems pairing my Bose soundlink with my macbook pro

I talked with a Bose rep about problems pairing with Lion, and got this answer, which has since worked every time.
    1. Turn on the Bose
    2. Tap the Bluetooth button the Bose (not holding it for 3 seconds), and it should start a slow blink.
    3. On your computer, click on the Bluetooth icon, hover over the Bose Soundlink name, and select that you'd like to "Use As Audio Device"
    4. Press Play on whatever audio or video you're trying to listen to. It will take a second, but should connect.
It has also worked when I've tried to switch from pairing with my iPhone to pairing with my laptop...in that case, hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds on the Bose to make it discoverable, and then go through the same steps. The Bose rep also said they're hoping to have software update, but that it involves getting Apple's help, so he's not sure when it will happen.
    Good Luck!

  • Magic TrackPad wont connect in bootcamp 4. Windows asks for a pairing pin

I am running bootcamp 4 and using a 32 bit version of Windows 7. Every time I try to connect the Magic Trackpad it loads the the drivers but when I go to use the pad it says a bluetooth device is trying to connect and asks for a pairing pin. Is there an updated driver for BootCamp 4?. Magic Trackpad connected and worked flawlessly (as usual) in Mac OS X Maverick.

UPDATE: I installed Vista on Bootcamp and tried the Magic TrackPad driver. It has the same problem. I can get the device to work as advertised on the initial install and reboots in the same OS. But when you switch from Windows to Mac OS X (or vice-versa) the device will not work: in Windows is listed as paired and connected, but does not work. In Mac OS X, it will not connect automatically and does not work. If you manually try to connect the Bluetooth icon briefly shows connected and then disconnects.
I sent a bug report to Apple as a "developer" and they state that it is a known issue. I guess we simply wait for them to get around fixing the drivers at some point in the distant future. Clearly they ignore these forums altogether. The experience has left me disappointed with Apple and their slow and inadequate response to problems. I would rather they devote some resources to getting their existing products to work instead of wasting resources to add iPhone-style displays to Mac OS X. If I wanted buggy drivers and no support I should have just stayed with Windows.

  • Magic trackpad being identified as a magic mouse

I bought both my my mac mini and magic trackpad back in september. I was using the magic trackpad for a while, but I switched to a regular usb plug-in bluetooth mouse.
Now when I try to connect my magic trackpad it's coming up, but as a magic mouse instead of a magic trackpad.
    What gives?

That's a strange one.  I'd try deleting and repairing it in System Preferences > Bluetooth.
