  • HT4489 Importing .vcf vCard to iCloud problems

I am trying to copy my contacts list onto iCloud from Hotmail.  I exported it from Hotmail as .csv, converted it to vCard .vcf and tried to upload to iCloud, but got an error message saying I was exceeding size limits.  My contacts list is only 750 entries, and just email addresses and names, really, so cannot be exceeding the limit of size.
Any ideas what else could be going wrong, please?
    Many thanks

    Hi Brandon
Thanks for the speedy reply.  No, they are not on any iDevice - that is really what I am trying to do - to get the contacts onto iCloud so that I can see them on my iPad.  I can see them via Hotmail, but Hotmail is so clunky, I want to be able to set up groups and things easier.   Will probably have to give up and buy Outlook at this rate....
    Thanks anyway.

  • C1-01 import vcf files

    Hi,
I have from my previous phone a backup vof my data in the form of vcf files. one per contact...
I can't find a way to import them on my C1-01 brand new phone.
the PC suite does not allow vcf copy or import.... old sofware did allow that.

    yes, of course.
That was the way I used to backup the contacts in the past: just select then & drag&drop on the directory where you want to have them.
About one month ago I hade to chnage my PC with IR connection.... So I made a last back-up of my 5140i.
all contacts have been copied on the new PC (as vcf files)
    I installed Nokia suite 3.2.100
Openned easily a bluetooth connection to my new C1-01 (v05-40)
    the PC has been reboted.
I can synchronise contact between PC & C1-01...(where are they? what format?)
    I see 3  possibles solutions
-enable the drag&drop solution (hidden setting?)
-import ".vcf" files using the Nokia suite
-import a ".CSV" / ".WAB" file ( Eventualy I can use windows adress book to bring all vcf files into one CSV or WAB file... but how to import then? )

  • Importing vcf files into Outlook issue

I have exported some PALM contacts as .vcf files and now I am trying to import them into Outlook. In PALM, I have the business number listed as Main so Outlook doesn't import the number into the business field.
How do I configure Outlook so that it recognizes this as the business number?
    Thanks.
    Post relates to: Palm IIIx

I suspect you will need to edit the files, because Outlook's import function does not let you map custom fields when you choose .vcf import. (If the following is too much of a pain, consider exporting in a tabular format such as comma-separated or tab-separated. You can open that file in Excel or a text editor to remove the records you do not want to import into Outlook.)
Can you open one of the .vcf files in Notepad or Wordpad and confirm that the "Main" number is on a line that starts with the following:
    TEL;PREF:
If so, then you can use a VBScript to change that to:
    TEL;WORK:
so that Outlook will interpret it as a Business number.
I have posted the script file at the following address:
    http://jeffersonscher.com/res/MainToBusiness_vbs.txt
The one-time setup is as follows: After inspecting the file to confirm that it doesn't do anything dangerous, you will need to save it to your hard drive with a .vbs extension. Once it is saved in a convenient location, right-click it and create a shortcut. Then move that shortcut into your Send To folder:
    c:\documents and settings\username\SendTo
Setup is done. You now can edit the Palm .vcf files by right-clicking, choosing Send To, then the name of your SendTo shortcut. The edited file will appear in the same folder as your .vcf file, with "_edited" added into the original name.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT4489 Import csv file

I need to import a csv file into my icloud contacts.  I went to help and it instructs me to "choose File > Import".  However, I cannot find "File" to choose it.  Where is it?

It has to be converted to a compatible vCard file first (and Outlook can't export a compatible one, if that's what you're using).  Easiest thing to do is create a Gmail account, then import your CSV file to Gmail (see https://support.google.com/a/answer/14024?hl=en), then export the contacts from Gmail as a vCard (see https://support.google.com/mail/answer/24911?hl=en) and import it to iCloud (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605).

  • HT4489 Not able to import vcf in icloud contact

Not able to import vcf file in icloud contact

Are you trying to import from icloud.com in a web browser?

  • Unable to import vcard files

I am attempting to import my contacts as vcards (.vcf) files and iCloud keeps telling me the card is invalid.
I even exported a card from my iPad, emailed it to myself and then tried importing. Same message.  Is this a larger issue with iCloud.
Very frustrating as when I had MobileMe, the contacts all synchronized automatically but iCloud won't sync anything that's synced with something else.

This seems to have resolved itself.  Went into iCloud a few days ago and the contacts were all there.  I guess the message was a lie.
    Not impressed with iCloud yet.

    Hi Nick,
Have you successfully set up an enterprise CA?
If yes, is the enterprise CA’s certificate located under the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store?

  • Contacts will not import vcard/.vcf file

I upgraded to Mountain Lion when it first came out.
I am now trying to import a .vcf file into Contacts and it keeps telling me "no importable cards found."
However, if I go to iCloud and try to import that same card, it imports just fine.
Seems that there is something wrong with the Contacts program.
    Anyone else experiencing this issue?
    Thanks,
    Duffy

If you haven't already done so, go to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Contacts, restart your Mac, then go back and check Contacts again.
If you've tried that already, or if it didn't resolve the problem, go to System Prefences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in.  (This deletes the account and iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud.  Your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in, after a brief delay as it redownloads.)
