Whoever thought this new search box GUI was a good idea was mistaken IMHO.
I've used the method shown above to return it to the old constant icon/text display with instantly available drop down of my alternative chosen search engines. All back to how it was in the previous version. Yay!
Displaying the chosen default search engine icon/text in the search box just seems a better and more sensible GUI feature to me than needing to hover over the box to show the same information (minus icon) . As for having to start entering search terms before the other search engine options become available - that is just plain ill conceived design.
The old design is more user friendly and should be the default setting but if some users want the new GUI for the search box why not include that under Tools > Options? -
I am trying to connect a second monitor on my system so that I have one to work on and the other that I am projecting. Any ideas on how to do that?
connect, then in SystemPreferences/Displays you can set the two as you want.

You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.I believe that feature was added in order to reduce wasted costs to the Podcaster.
Podcasts incur costs - that have to be paid for, by someone. That cost will be the cost of hosting the Podcast on a server somewhere and more crucially (with regard to your point), the cost of the Podcast being downloaded to your computer. Every download costs the Podcaster money (typically, charged by bytes downloaded).
If that Podcaster pays for the whole thing personally, obviously they want to keep down any unnecessary cost to themselves. If the Podcaster is earning money for his or her Podcast (typically from advertising within the programme) then obviously, the advertiser only wants to pay for advertisements heard by listeners. So a download, not heard by the downloader, is waste of the Podcaster's money or no payment from the advertiser.
My own experience is that I only have to resume downloading once per programme. I'm usually several episodes behind on two different Podcasts that I follow, but I do not recall having to repeat the resume Podcast after that first time. -
I took video in the format (AVCHD) 60i/60p and it does not download into iphoto. Any way to get this video into MP4 format so it will download?

I had backed-up my iPhone and when I try to restore it it says that the back-up is corrupt or the iPhone is not compatible. I had a bunch of pictures that I need from that restore. Is there any way to get them back? I did the back-up to my Macbook
If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done.
For what reason did you choose to not copy the pictures off the device to a computer prior to attemping an update or whatever caused the need to restore? iPhones are not intended as sole storage of any media. -
I recently updated my ipad and then I connected with my computer for sync, not realising that I had a new version of itunes with none of my apps. Now I have lost all of the apps and books etc, that I had prurchased. How do I get them back?

My little sister restore my ipod 5th generation and i want to restore from my last back up. It says, "Enter the password to unlock ipod touch back up". I forgot the password. Is their a way of reseting the password or taking it off?? Please help. (im doing this form my imac)
Either:
- Do not restore form that backup
- Copy the backup file to PC and "crack" the password. and then use that password to restor on your Mac.

After updating to FCPX 10.1.1 my shape mask starts waaaay off screen. Too far for me even to grab the center fully zoomed out. My friends mac had the same problem after the update. Anyone have an idea on what to do? Thanks

Since selecting the prompt to upgrade my iphone4s, I have experienced significant problems. The "old" Siri disappeared and the new one is slow, ineffective and unavailable much too frequently. The faded colors on my iphone screen are also troublesome. I wish that I could revert back to the default settings
on my iphone4s. Has anyone else experienced the above problems?Apple does not support downgrading to a previous iOS.
You might first try a reboot:
press and hold the home and power buttons until the Apple icon is displayed, then let go.
If it doesn't help, try
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settiings. -
The display screen on my Ipad is coming up all blurred with blue background mixed with pink and purple lines. It's difficult to see icons but apps are still accessible. Colors are off and images are very unclear on apps and home screen.

Thanks.First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
But it could also be a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
