HT4623 I was updating my iphone 4 and after if showed it ipdated, it has a black screen showing my usb cable and and an arrow pointing to itunes. What do I do?
Any ideas as to what I need to do?
Plug it into your computer running iTunes and restore it. It's in recovery mode.

Do what you are being told. Plug the phone into a computer running iTunes and restore the phone.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Im sorry to hear that. You need to restore like brad said.
But you can restore from a latest backup from itunes after restore. I hope you had a recent backup made.

If you have a backup of your information on your computer, I would suggest putting your phone into recovery mode, by holding down the home key and keeping it held down while you connect it by usb into your computer with itunes running. Keep the home button held down until it indicates recovery mode, and proceed with the restore.

It sounds like your screen is black but otherwise indicates that it is on. I recommend the troubleshooting steps from the article named:

Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

Try:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
Or it could be an Apple problem and you will have to wait.
