iTunes will only ever install the latest version of iOS for the device, in the case of the 3GS that is 6.1.

We want to make sure that we get your phone up and running. Can you look to see where you have the most stuff stored at. Settings>General>Usage>Storage.
This will tell you what exactly is using everything. Then you can delete things from there.

You can't. Either get your phone fixed at a third-party repair shop, or go to an Apple store & they will replace your phone for US $199.

You need to start iTunes on your computer and connect the iPad to the computer. Tis will allow you to go through the restore process. Be sure to update iTunes to version 11.1 before connecting your iPad.

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

I unfortunately just got my IPhone 4s stolen.I thought I had the find my iPhone enabled but I didn't because I cannot locate the phone when I sign in ICloud.I have a password on the phone but i'm not sure if I turned on the option where the phone resets if you incorrectly put the password more than ten time. I immediately called my phone company (Verizon) and reported the phone stolen.So I know whoever took the phone cannot place calls or use the phone. But can they still access my data on the phone if they manage to unlock the phone? If so how can I erase all data on the phone so the thief can't access my personal information? is there any other way other than Find my IPhone to wipe off the data on the phone? I really don't want my personal information such as pictures, text messages, notes and social networks profile available to a stranger!!? Help please!!!

You are able to activate an old device and process an insurance claim for your iPhone 4s within 60days from the incident date. Keep in mind if the old phone is not a smartphone and you currently have unlimited data that feature will fall off. If you have a tier data plan no changes will be made. My phone was run over. It still works enough to see some of the screen but not the number pad. I cannot unlock the phone because I activated find my iphone. How can I unlock the phone so I can save my photos? Is there a way to unlock it from find my iphone. It was not backed up in iCloud. Now I have a few more questions: If I mail my broken iPhone to Asurion, will I be able to get my data off of my iPhone once Asurion has it? And what will happen to my old iPhone and the data on it if I activate my replacement iPhone? Will my broken iPhone just become de-activated and will the data be erased or lost or something? Could I still sync it (with the computer ir originally synced with) and back up the data?

No action on your part can remove the lock. The previous owner needs to release the lock. They can try to recover their password at http://iforgot.apple.com, or call Apple, provide proof of purchase that they are the original owner, and ask them to remove the lock.

The photos.app does not (yet) have the option to add captions or tags. It is not possible right now. You can however search for the captions you added previously using the search field. You can also search for album names. So, as a work-around, put photos that should have the same caption into an album with a name like the caption.

IPhone software update errored. How can I fix my iPhone without having to do a restore?
I plugged in my iPhone 4 to do a sync this afternoon. I got the message that there was a software update. Sadly, I've updated to the crappy iOS7, so I chose to install the update (which I think is 7.0.2.) The update was downloaded, and was loading to my iPhone. I suddenly received an error that my iPhone couldn't update. I think it had an error code of 411. My iTunes refreshed, and is now not showing that it recognized my phone. Now the only thing I can get to show up on my screen is a graphic of the iTunes icon, and an arrow directing me to plug in my phone. When I do this, a message appears that iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and that I must restore this phone before it can be used with iTunes. I don't want to perform a restore. I will lose all my data. So, why did this error? How can I fix my iPhone without doing a restore?

There is no such error code. No one can tell you why without the correct code.

I purchased Acrobat Pro for Mac on Amazon. When I try to register with the registration code they give me, it doesn't work. (It has letters and the registration boxes won't accept letters.) How do I get this to work?
If you don't have original install disks for your Mac, you can order replacements disks directly from Apple at a nominal cost. The original install DVDs are required to reset the password.
If you have no data on your drive that you want to keep, you can boot up from the OSX Snow Leopard disk and install OSX SL.
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and hold the C key during startup. The Mac should boot from the CD/DVD drive into the installer.
Follow the prompts, erase the disk and install OSX Snow Leopard. -
After opening my yahoo mail window, I keep getting a very short and narrow dialogue box with the words "log into Xmarks" I cannot ... when it pops up, always upper left of my laptop screen and I try to get into my yahoo mail web page, I get a DING sound and cannot enter it ... everything is frozen. I have to hit CNTRL + ALT + ESC to get rid of it - and then reload my Firefox browser to get back to my yahoo e-mail page ... fortunately for me, Firefox re-stores a previous session ... Try resetting your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
On a separate point, you may wish to consider updating your iPhone if you're still on iOS 5.0.1 as your post says.
