Can Windows 7 be installed on my new MacBook Pro, through my network connection?  The disc would be in my Windows desktop.

I wouldn't recommend installing through a network connection.
For a Virtual Machine:
If you have the Win 7 media (DVD), use an app like PowerISO or MagicISO to make an ISO file of the install disc and use that.
For BootCamp:
Use the original install media and BootCamp Assistant, to install from your DVD Drive.

  • Install windows 7 or 8 on new macbook pro?

If you can find a copy of Windows 7 that is what I would install.

  • I wand to install Windows 7 on my band new Macbook Pro 13 inch. Do I need to buy a specific Mac version of Windows 7 or do I install a standard Windows 7 OS on the Mac

I want to install Windows 7 on my band new Macbook Pro 13 inch and use Parallel Desktop 6 torun it alongside my Mac OS. Do I need to buy a specific Mac version of Windows 7 or do I install a standard Windows 7 OS on the Mac using boot camp.

As vazandrew said, Boot Camp will work with any standard copy of Win 7.
The only exception would be if you want to run it in a virtual environment, such as with Parallels or WMware.
I personally recommend Boot Camp, however, since it only uses the resources for one OS at a time.

  • How can I use pages on my new macbook pro after having used it on my old macbook pro?

I have pages installed on my old macbook pro and I just bought the newest model pro.  I thought I was transfering all of my programs using migration assistant, but after trying to start Pages on my new computer, this window asking me to buy or try iWork '09 keeps coming up.  How can i get rid of this window and start using pages normally again?  Maybe I have to run migration assistant again...

Do you have any other Apple IDs? I would just try signing in with other ID's, and checking the "Purchased" tab in the Mac App Store to see if Pages appears.

  • Windows 7 OEM and a new MacBook Pro

Ok, I guess this is a common question.
Basically can I use an OEM version of Windows 7 x64 on my new MacBook Pro (that I just got). I only intend to install it and use it on this computer.
    http://www.elive.co.nz/microsoft-windows7-home-premium-64bit-sy1813.php
I was going to buy this one, would this work. I basically want windows just for a couple of programs that aren't mac compatible.
I am mainly double checking so I don't mess anything up and I also was checking about the product I was going to buy from that website because I read somethings about system builders OEM's vs standard and I wasn't sure what would apply.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists

Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists follow link: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111. Have installed Bridge 5.0.2.4; Raw Ref Version 7.0.0.308; DNG converter_8_7_1.dmg; Bridge 5.0.2 Update 2. Also same problem with Lightroom which I don't normally use. Lightroom_3_LS11_mac_3_6.dmg installed.

In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it.

I can´t download skype to my new macbook pro, I can´t find it in the App Store, do you know why?

There are a number of developers who have chosen for various reasons not to offer their software through the Mac App Store, so don't assume that if an application is not in the App Store that the application is not available. It may well be available directly from the developer or some other download site. MacUpdate is a good resource for looking for applications:

  • How do I remove old applications from my new Macbook Pro that came over when the data on my iMac was migrated to the new computer.

How do I remove old applications from my new Macbook Pro that were part of the data that was migrated over from my older iMac?
    Thanks

If the applications were originally drag and drop installations you can simply drag them to the trash and empty. If they were installed by an installer there should be an uninstaller included. If you're not sure you should check with the software developer for instructions. In this case Google can be your friend.

  • Registering my new Macbook Pro through Apple?

How could I go about registering my new Macbook Pro through Apple. Is there any special way to do so because the first day I turned it on I remember typing in some sort of information but was not sure if it was to register it, thanks so much; cheers !

    Go to:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do?newid=y
    Enter your serial #.
(To get serial # Apple Menu>About this Mac. Click on 'Version 10.6.x' twice. Window stays on top while you enter serial. Copy/Paste doesn't work. Sorry if you knew that bit...)
You'll then get a page confirming your model etc and there'll be a warning that your 'product is unregistered'. Follow it on from there.
Edit: Having just been through this myself, (for an MBP) that's the path I followed. I can't remember how I got there. Presumably if yours is registered you'll get a confirmation rather than a warning
    Good luck.

  • I'm looking to buy a new Macbook Pro, and have questions about the Applecare extended warranty?

I'm looking to buy a new Macbook Pro, and have questions about the Applecare extended warranty? I want to know if the 3 year extended warranty covers what damage. Like water damage, accidental damage, lost or stolen macbook, manufactory defects, or any other kind of damage, maybe be even cosmetic damage. Can anyone help me?

If you are talking about features of the MBP itself, as long as you are not looking at  the Retina models, then the memory you can upgrade yourself for a lot less than Apple charges, and that does not affect the warranty as Apple considers memory a user permitted upgrade.  Great sources are Crucial and OWC, both are Mac specialists and have on-line videos on how to do the install.
If the 15" is what you are looking at, a good upgrade is the 7200 rpm hard drive, gives a little better performance over the standard 5400 rpm drive.
The Hi Res screen is good if you do a lot of graphics work.
Comparing the 13" amd 15" you will notice the 15" has a second, discrete graphic processor...helps when you get into heavy duty videos, games, graphics...but keep in mind that kicking in the second processor uses a lot of power and will run the battery down faster.
If you are looking at the Retina models, then keep in mind there are no post-purchase upgrade options...you have to buy with everything you want at the start.
    Just some thoughts.
