HT5038 OS X version 10.6.8 how to access Macintosh HD
How to find your Macintosh HD on my computer to make a change?
"Macintosh HD" is the default name for the OS X hard disk volume, but it's far from the only name used for that.
That disk volume name can be changed, in other words.
On various systems, you'll find your mounted disk volumes shown on the Desktop. This includes Macintosh HD, or whatever it's been called on the local system. Alternatively, open Finder and look for the devices in the left column; in what's called the Finder sidebar. Alternatively, Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility can be used to show the devices present.
If you don't see the disks on the Desktop or in Finder, then you can enable and show various devices in the sidebar using Finder's Preferences > Sidebar, and you can also display the devices on the desktop using Finder's Preferences > General.
Though this is the OS X Server forum, I'm going to guess you're not using that software here. If you're really on OS X Server and not on OS X client, then things here can potentially work a little differently. OS X Server brings a number of capabilities to OS X client including AFP and SMB file servers, a mail server, DNS, iChat server and a variety of other services, and is managed through Server Admin.app tool, and can set up various shares that other OS X client systems access.

Goodreader FTP Sharing, How to Access Macintosh HD
I have enabled ftp file sharing on my mac and i have connected to my ip address in the Goodreader FTP connection but it only shows the user directory but i want to view the Macintosh HD from the app, what am i doing wrong?
ThanksIt is working as designed. If FTP access to your Mac allowed access to your whole HD that would be a HUGE security issue.
What exactly are you trying to do?
Methods for transferring files to Goodreader are detailed here:

Hi, when ever I'm using 3G, on my Iphone4 sim stops working and network is lost, this started after I updated my phone with 6.0.1(10A523)version. Please help how to solve this problem. Thanks.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not synced. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not touched with the iTunes sync process. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer which is not handled by iTunes. Most importing software includes an option to delete the photos/videos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete. If is my understanding that some Windows import software supports importing photos from the Camera Roll, but not videos. Regardless, the import software should not delete the photos/videos from the Camera Roll unless you set the app to do so.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup. If you synced your iPhone with iTunes before the videos on the Camera Roll went missing and you haven't synced your iPhone with iTunes since they went missing, you can try restoring the iPhone with iTunes from the iPhone's backup. Don't sync the iPhone with iTunes again and decline the prompt to update the iPhone's backup after selecting Restore. -
On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture. How can I access the Aperture Library on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup? I can only access the application but not the library..
Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it. -
cannot open iTunes. I get the message" the file--iTunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. How do I proceed?
Had same problem and solved it without having to reinstore any music or movies:
1. Delete old Library file
2. Go to the 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder and copy one of the earlier files - note, they have a date extension, e.g. 'iTunes Library 2011-11-01'.
3. Paste this file in your iTuners folder and rename file by removing the date extension - 'iTunes Library'
You should have all your music and paylists in tact, unless it was a really old previous file. -

I have installed a new windows 7 computer (Dell) and downloaded the latest version of ITunes. How can I populate my music into ITunes from my I-pod classic?
Hey AppleMacParker,
Thanks for the question. The following article may assist you in setting up syncing with your iPod:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12313
Select items to sync automatically
1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device.
2. Select the type of media you want to sync.
The types of media you can sync depends on your device. For more information, see Sync and organize iOS apps and Add photos to iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
3. Select the Sync checkbox, and select the items you want to sync automatically each time you connect your device.
Click a button to select the kind of content you want to sync, then select the sync checkbox and select the items you want to sync automatically
The bar at the bottom of the window shows how much space will remain on your device after you sync.
Thanks,

Will a program mention for MAC OSX be allowed to download on the newest iPad version. If so, how do I get past the "safari" can not download this file?
No, because iPads do not run Mac OS X. They run iOS.
