Do I have to buy the OS X Mountain Lion in order to update my software, or i can update my software without having to but that app in the app store in my mac? Since the directions says: 1)Click on "About this mac" 2)Click on Software Updates 3)Download OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.
So Im scared that I update my software and then it says that I have to have to download the OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store in order to finish my update.

What Russa is saying is that if you don't save "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" before you install you'll need to download it again each time. It's important to save it before you install because it self-destructs after restart.

I no longer have the Snow leopard disks so I can't just reload the OS but I told the person I sold the MBP to that it has SL on it so I don't want to wipe it off. Is there a way to remove my personal info without resorting to reloading the software again?
Open Accounts preferences. Click on the lock icon to authenticate. Click on the Add [-] to create a new user account. Give the new account admin status. Set the account for auto-login then restart the computer. The computer should boot into the new user account. Open Accounts preferences, click on the lock icon to authenticate. Select your old account and click on the Delete [-] button. Select the third option to remove the user folder and also check the option to securely erase. If given the option to select the number of passes select one pass only. This should remove your data from any prying eyes.

updated my mac to mountain lion 10.7.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install saying that I need to see developer. Whenever I try to open my appstore, mail or facetime it says that the programmes need to be installed and might not be compatible with this version of mac operating system. Can anyone help me?
It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.

I'm trying to update my Mac Book Pro to the OS X Mountain Lion but im having a hard time doing so. I keep trying at my school because that is where i get the best wi-fi at. I can usually get to about 2.1 gigs before i have to leave for the day. When i get home and have my mac on standby and try to bring it back the next day, sometimes i have to completely start over.
My main question is that i was wondering if there was a way i could bring my mac book to the apple store and they could update it for me since i have already purchased the update.It'll have to wait till after my classes this afternoon. I get out 1:45 so they should still be open by then

I re-installed Mountain Lion from scratch of a USB stick, and now my Apps in the App store ca not be installed, the App store indicates that they are already installed, but that is not the case. Now what?
Ok, this is somewhat of a better work around I've found:
Starting in the Australian iTunes store, I go through the process of signing into the UK iTunes store up until the point it asks for my credit card information.
I then click the 'X' in the top left of iTunes to exit the store.
Now when I click on my Apps Updates button it shows me what UK Apps I have that are available to update.
You can't download these as at this point I've changed the store I'm viewing, but haven't officially switched accounts. Not to worry.
I write down the names of the UK Apps to update.
Then, use the 'search store' field in the top right of iTunes to search for one of the Apps.
Once you've found it, click to buy it / download it.
iTunes recognises that the App is already in your account and downloads it again for free….
… now I'm HOPING that that App is now fully within my Australian account… unfortunately only time will tell once there is a new update for it.

Then you haven't upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Check inside your /Applications folder for something like "OS X Mountain Lion Installer" and double click it. If the file doesn't exist, you'll have to downloaded/buy it from the app store.
If you did make the purchase already, open the app store (under the apple >> app store) and then click Purchases at the top of the app store window. It will ask for your apple id and password. Do you see Mountain Lion listed? If so, then download it. If not, click on Featured and look for mountain lion in the side bar on the right and you'll have to buy it. -

If I perform a restore from Time Machine, with a date prior to having the hard drive replaced, will it revert back to the old OS?
No, it won't revert to the prior OS X but you you may have third party apps installed that were compatible with Lion that may not be compatible with Mountain Lion.

Problem resizing ITunes Window
Somehow my ITunes window has gotten supersized, adn I can't get to the bottom toresize it. Using the button only gives me an abbreviated ITunes window which can't be resized. What can I do?
