HT5622 Password rejected after successful log-in

Why is my password accepted when I log in to my Apple account, but rejected when I try to download a free App?

After changing the PW did you go to Settings>iTunes and App stores and sign out and sign back in?
What error message are you getting?

    What "new system" did you reinstall?
    Are you upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard?
    Or did you reinstall Leopard?  If so, why and how (that may provide a clue)?
    How is your Mac connected to the Time Capsule (use Ethernet for best results)?
    You may need to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • Account password rejected after system restore

    I bought a replacement MacBook Pro tonite and just finished loading in my full backup from Time Machine. Now when I go to log in to my account, the Mac is rejecting my account password. The hint is still correct and I know the password is correct so I have no idea how to make it work. Anyone have this issue?

    Still not sure why this occurred but remembered you can reset password with utility on system install disk. I suspect it had something to do with the new Mac running 10.5.0 and the restore being of my updated 10.5.2 system. The reset worked and all is well again. Downloading 14 software update files now... yikes! Sounding like Winblowz!!!

  • Password Rejected after Archive Install

    Recently, I messed up my mac while playing round with system theme settings, so after browsing the net for a bit I found the only option to be an Archive Install, as I didn't want to lose my data. Once this had finished, all seemed to be fine. The login screen came up with my icon, and it took me to the password screen. All normal. Then I tried entering my password, and it was rejected.
    So I'm currently locked out of my repaired computer. Any solutions or links, please post! I've seen several instances of problems when upgrading to leopard from early versions of OSX, but none of when it's been simply reinstalled to fix errors.

  • 404 Error After Successfully Logging in to OWA/ECP in Exchange 2013

    Hello,
    My apologies first if this would be better asked in another forum but this one seems to fit best.  I am running Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard and am experiencing an issue after logging in to ECP and OWA.  After entering my credentials
    (all credentials experience the same issue) I am redirected to a 404 error for both \ecp  and \owa.  The odd thing is that Re-entering the url completes the login.  How do I fix the appearent lack of the login.aspx?  If my description isn't
    sufficient please let me know.
    Thanks.

    What if you want to use FBA?  We are using FBA and on first logon on any computer the 404 page is displayed.  You can click the "Refresh the page" button and it takes you into OWA.  When you log out and close IE, the next time you logon on
    that same computer it takes you right in.  If you clear your temp files (cookies etc. included), you get the same 404 page.  I've attached an image below-

  • Password rejected after screen lock

    I have a MBP 6.2 running mac os x 10.6.8 and I've just recently starting seeing this problem.
    When I go away from my Mac, I always lock the screen. When I come back and put in my password, the mac will randomly decide that my password is incorrect. This usually happens in the afternoon with the machine having been on all day.
    There seems to be no pattern to this, but once it happens, I have no choice but to power the mac off and start again. The mac accepts my password for login. It will also accept it if I lock the screen most of the time, except that one time.
    Any help with this? I'm afraid of losing unsaved, not yet backed up data. So far, I've been in remote desktop sessions to PCs and on web-based apps and no local apps.
    Thanks...Michael

    It was successful.But soon after change of my password, I could not log in App store.
    It says always incorrect user name or password. But I input correct ! Because just I successfully changed my password through secret question.
    Third time when I tried to change password, the page did not open!
    So I checked my connection by netstat , and I trace the IP address ; 17.154.66.17 this is apple IP, but when I trace , it did not show the route. I will copy

    To post this question, I tried thierd time to change password, and before I tried to log in to App store, I logged in this community, and I could !
    Then I could finally log in App store also.
    But still I feel something is wrong with my connection.
    Why the trace route does not show to the apple site ?

  • Password rejected immediately after Leopard upgrade

    This problem has a solution posted WAAAAAY far down in the list of Leopard problems posted here in the Discussions, and the solution I'm giving here is easier than that one. So I hope it helps someone, since this seems to be a common (and completely avoidable) problem judging from discussions on other sites.
    The problem is that Leopard refuses to recognize a valid Admin password immediately after upgrading. The problem is solved by installing the Keychain update, but how can you install that if it rejects your Admin password when you try to install using a password stored in... you guessed it... the Keychain?
    The problem is solved in Apple Knowledge Base article #306840. It is very intricate and detailed, but not fundamentally difficult. In some other web discussions of the problem it supposedly affects passwords longer than 8 characters, but mine was exactly 8 characters, and the AKB 306840 says that it affects those 8 CHARACTERS OR MORE, not MORE THAN 8 CHARACTERS.
    It only affects a password CREATED IN JAGUAR. My password was created in Jaguar on an iBook which was upgraded to Panther and then to Tiger. I then bought a Macbook Pro (with Tiger) and used the standard procedure to transfer all my settings to the Macbook. When I upgraded the Macbook to Leopard, I got the problem -- even though the Macbook had never touched a Jaguar in its entire life! (And probably wouldn't even RUN Jaguar, right?)
    So I guess I had a "classic case" of this problem.
    I called AppleCare and apparently got a fellow in India who took an hour and a half to solve the problem (after almost 30 minutes holding on the phone). After a few routine attempts which didn't work (including trying to reset the password using a boot from the installation CD), he finally started stepping me through the procedures outlined in the AKB #306840 (which I had printed out but hadn't tried yet; it was next on my list).
    Oh and by the way before you do what 306840 tells you to do, make sure you know the Short Name by which you are secretly known in Unixland. My user name in AppleLand is "Jim W", which turns out to be "jimw" in Unixland. That's easy enough, but it's not "jim-w" or "jim_w" or "Jim+W" or jim%20w or some such. Look it up in your System Preferences (I forget which pane) before you proceed. The guy in India seemed to expect me to know what mine was and wasn't able to tell me what to use. Because I had printed out 306840 beforehand I was ready, but didn't tell him; I wanted to see if he would see the problem coming (he didn't). If I hadn't known the right thing to do, it would probably have extended the call another half hour, then gotten me referred to Level 2 support, another half hour with someone talking from Cupertino... Maybe.
    It seems from other postings that this is a bug Apple knew about before releasing Leopard. It could have been prevented if Apple had simply told everyone with an 8-character (or longer) password to shorten it before updating, right? Then change it back (if you wish) after the installation? They would have saved having to pay their AppleCare person for 90 wasted minutes, and their telephone provider for 30 minutes of hold time on an 800 number.

    No, your problem sounds very different. The light blue screen is something I get for a few moments during the reboot process. If your password worked the second time, then what probably was happening (I'm no expert; this is just a guess) can happen in almost ANY update or install process. Understand, updating is a tricky thing; you have a new system to install and you need to be sure there is something to come back to if the power is interrupted at a crucial point, or whatever. I've been told that in very sensitive circumstances, what happens is that the new stuff is installed, the old stuff left behind (in case there's a power outage, etc.), and when you reboot to use the new stuff, the first thing that happens is that the system checks that there was no power outage. If everything is OK then it wipes the old stuff (it's safe now; the new stuff checks out) AND THEN REBOOTS AGAIN, since it has verified that the new installation will be able to handle things.
    So my (unexpert) guess is that you logged in with your password, it was happy, it got rid of the old, and then it rebooted, giving you the Blue Screen Of Rebirth and leading to another (hopefully successful) login.

  • Disable AD user after first successful login (after password change) after x amount of days regardless of activity

    I've been searching for over a week high and low now trying to find a way to do this via PS.
    We'd like to lockout certain users (we can put them in a group/OU) 30 days after their first successful log in - the one requiring
    password change by them.
    And we'd like to disable it REGARDLESS of their activity.
    All the tips and scripts I've found look for 'inactivity', date created etc.
    Only parameters I need are 30 days AFTER the first log in. Accounts might be created 60 days before actual use, but still need to be disabled 30 days after their first successful log in.
    Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated!

    I don't think you're going to get the kind of solution you want via scripting. As jrv noted, usually this kind of issue is managed by using account expiration and password expiration. If that won't work for you, then I would recommend looking into supported
    third party tools that can help you get where you need to go.
    -- Bill Stewart [Bill_Stewart]
    As Bill points out you  need to look into third party tools.  If there is any legitimate legal or industry need for this then there wil be third party tools.  Having worked in medical software systems \I can tell you there is not. There are
    old systems that use now-obsolete mechanisms that do things similar to what you are asking.  They are no longer usable.
    I think if you sat down with those asking you to do this and had them get the actual industry and government rules on the table you would see that this is not what they are asking you to do.  It aslo doesn't make much sense from a technical standpoint.
    Just set the password expiration.  That is what it is designed for. To force reauth just set the account so the user cannot set the password.  Use the reauth web page to allow the user to set a new password.  Use the corporate disclaimer
    or a desktop link to notify users what to do when the password expires.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Hi mmonsiegneur,
    If you've recently changed or reset your Apple ID password and are having issues logging in, you may want to try manually signing out and signing back in on your device. You may find the following article helpful:

  • Authentication Rejected after password change.

    I'm seeing this quite a bit
    Users change their password in AD and then are being rejected trying to log in to both a 3005 concentrator and ASA 5500 using AD/Kerberos authentication.  Wait a couple of days and it works just fine after that.  I even do the test on the VPN device and it still comes back "authentication rejected".    Users can use this same new password to log on to mail, VM, anything else but the VPN devices.

    This is expected behavior.
    Outlook will not prompt immediately because it is not required to do so for Exchange resource access. The cached creds are valid for as long as the existing token in ADFS (and also within orgID
    in our cloud) matched to the old password in credman is valid. The default token life is 10 hours, but that value can be modified. Once that token expires, when Outlook tries to pass the old creds (that are no longer valid), Exchange will refuse them, and
    only then Outlook should prompt. You can use both Outlook ETL data and NETSH data to see when Outlook is prompted and what is passed.
    If you expects an immediate prompt ‘out of box’ when a password is changed, that is simply not correct . If there is a business requirement for an immediate prompt, you could implement a policy
    to never cache creds into cred man (This is windows and not within our Outlook expertise). The downside here is obvious – users would be prompted every time they restart Outlook.
    Hope this helps

  • Where does portal store the username after a successful log in?

    We have an intranet application, we use the portal security and login screen, etc.
    I have written a stored procedure which requires two parameters. One of them we already have at the time we need to call it. The other is username. All we need
    to know is how to get the username at the time we must call it. Where does portal store the username after a successful log in for the particular session this user is logged into?
    I tried using the following syntax,
    When i log in using PORTAL30 then it returns,
    SQL> select portal30.wwctx_api.get_user()
    2 from dual;
    PORTAL30.WWCTX_API.GET_USER()
    PORTAL30
    But when i logged in using some other user i.e.rtemps it returns,
    SQL> connect rtemps@mpdb
    Enter password: *******
    Connected.
    SQL> select portal30.wwctx_api.get_user()
    2 from dual;
    PORTAL30.WWCTX_API.GET_USER()
    PUBLIC
    Why does it return PUBLIC, instead of RTEMPS?
    rtemps is a Database user though.
    How do i test this script for portal users?
    Also my application is a multiple user application.
    So at a given time, there could be more than user logged in, also there could be more than one sessions of the same user logged in.
    what happens in that scenario?
    Thank you,
    Kalpa

    still not working..
    The first page my user goes to log in, is
    http://159.225.218.59/pls/portal30_sso/portal30_sso.draw_custom_login_page
    when i look at this stored procedure, it makes a call to the following procedure,
    PORTAL30_SSO.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login
    and passes a parameter ssousername
    From here my user is directed to the home page, which is built using the portlets, the URL for the same is,
    http://159.225.218.59/servlet/page?_pageid=255,257&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30
    This is where i want to pass the ssousername, so as to keep track of what the user is doing.
    Question 1: where does this page physically reside, or how do i add the parameter ssousername to this page?
    I have 1 HTML PORTLET, on this page, and the code behind this looks like,
    <!-- PL/SQL Language Definition Section -->
    <%@ page language="PL/SQL" %>
    <%@ plsql parameter="i_pagenum" default="1" %>
    <body>
    <table width = 760>
    <tr>
    Link 1
    </tr>
    </table>
    In the above code, when they click on link 1, it calls a database stored procedure(rpt_param_prov), which is also a psp page.
    In here, i want to pass the parameter ssousername.
    e.g. the link should look like,
    Link 1
    Again this is a HTML portlet, so i don't think it will recognize the psp tags.. so that probably might be another issue.
    But this is what i want to accomplish. So i can use the user who logged in, for my audit trail application, which will be inserting a record in a database table, everytime, the user runs reports that are being clicked.. like link 1 in above example.
    I don't understand why this is so hard.
    When i tried
    portal30.WWCTX_API.get_user, it still brings back PUBLIC or PORTAL30_PUBLIC.

    Sounds like they are not getting logged in at all, so they are never getting to the point where they can change the password, but we need to see more detail to give a better answer (an example or copy-paste of a sqlplus session might help)
