I have just purchased a new ipad2 to replace my old ipad. How do i sync all the data in my apps I am worried about losing my data?

iPad settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party party app along with app settings are included with the iPad's backup along with other data.
If you are syncing your iPad direct with iTunes on your computer via USB, the iPad's backup is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
The first time you connect a new iPad or iOS device to iTunes that is used to sync with another iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iOS device to the new device. This is followed by a sync to transfer the same content from your computer that is on the old iPad to the new iPad such as music, movies, tv shows, 3rd party apps, photos, audio and print books, etc.

I'm new to the MAC world. I turned my computer on from 'sleep' mode, and a window was up stating that the IOS disk was full; asked me to force quit, then it just froze. It's been 2 hours. Help! I'm worried about losing photos/videos of my children. Im not sure if there's something special I need to do once I turn it back on; in the meantime, its still on... which I'm afraid the picture on the screen will burn into the screen. Does that happen on iMac's? Thx!

Try a hard reset. ( holding Power til it restarts)
Once to your desktop. Click the Apple icon >> About this mac >> More info>> Storage
Once you see what you have the most of. Try to see what you can delete.
Open up any folder>>all files>> or buy an external to store more data.
Once deleting make sure you empty your trash.
If you are new and its a new computer, you might need to bring it to a store for further assistence.

I recently replaced the hard drive in my computer.  I am afraid to download and reinstall itunes again because I worry about losing all the music I had on my iPod Nano.  Any suggestions for solutions?

    The dragging does not work:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you will need a third-party program like one of those discused here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to your compouter and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Nothe that the backup that iTunees makes does not include synced media like apps nd music.

  • Moving all my stuff to a new Macbook Pro

Is there an easy way to do this, I have an old (2007)Macbook Pro with Leopard OS, can I use Time Machine to copy everything from it onto a new machine or do I have to copy everything off and reload all the software etc on the new unit?

You cannot use time machine to restore to your new Pro as this will cause problems on your new machine as the hardware is different. The best option is to use the migration assistant, this will copy user accounts and all files across to your new machine.

  • HT1725 I purchased a rental movie from iTunes.... But it got inturpted. Now it says it is processing, but has not moved all day. Eventually I deleted it from my video file in the hope of starting again. It still says its processing but has now disappeared

  • Moving all my stuff to external hard drive. Please help!

I just bought a western digital external hard drive with 500 gb since my g4 only has about 14gb left. Ive been noticing my computer has been slower when ive been using certain programs. How can I take off all my music and move it to the external hard drive safely? I have about 20+gb of music and I just thought it would help if I moved it.
Can someone please explain how I do this?

Assuming your music is in iTunes, this Apple note should explain it.

  • New PC, worried about losing songs/pics with new iTunes library

    NEED HELP!
I have the SAME PC - I changed from Windows Vista to Windows XP.
While I had Windows Vista, I put songs I had on my PC into iTunes to then add to my iPhone 4. I also have the iTunes purchased songs on my iPhone. One day I accidentally deleted my purchased songs from my phone, on my phone and just had the list of songs from my PC on my phone to listen to. At this point I was beating myself up because I thought I lost all the songs I paid for. I changed the Windows version on my PC. Downloaded iTunes, signed in, connected my iPhone and was able to get all my purchased songs back on my phone, whew...awesome!
Now, I am wanting to sync items from my phone to the iTunes library on the Windows XP version. I have already did the "authorize this computer" and got a message that I can only authorize 5 computers and now that I have authorized 2, I have 3 left...funny cause I only have 1 computer. But I still can't get my iTunes to reflect all the songs from my phone to my library on the PC. iPhone seems to sync to new PC, but when I try to upgrade to iOS 5.0, I get a question box that says I;m trying to upgrade to another library and if I agree to this it will erase everythign on my iPhone....sure don't want to do that. I don't want to loose the songs I have already purchased. I don't care if I loose the songs not purchased from iTunes that I had placed on my phone from my music files PC when it had the Windows Vista.
I just want to be able to use my iTunes the way I did before I changed from Windows Vista to Windows XP and not erase everything...I dont want to loose my contacts/pictures/apps/purchased songs from my phone. Please help!

How can i do this on a new pc without losing all the music, photos, contacts and apps etc from my phone.
First, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
    Then follow the instructions here.

  • Syncing Problems - Worried about losing all my data

Wife and I each have an iphone 3GS running latest version of iTunes in 10.5.8. Never had syncing problems previously. We haven't synced for a month. Tonight, I plug my wife's in and it asks to update software. I proceed and then after it tries, it says there was a problem updating software. I don't have time to problem shoot, so I sync hers and then plug mine in.
When I plug mine in, instead of recognizing my phone and all its content, it says an iphone has previously been synced with this computer and asks if I want to restore from back up or format (not the word they use, but can't remember) it as a new iphone. So, if I format it, I lose all my info and if I restore from a back up, I lose all the calendar entries I've made and applications I've purchased since the last sync which was a month ago.
Why is it not recognizing my phone as current? What can I do?
I tried resetting the phone. I don't want to do anything else that's going to make me lose all my updates from the past month. Please help!
    Thanks!

If there is any data left on the phone you didn't back up on your mac, try to do a manual backup. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose "Backup"
See what the backup contains here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way.
If your phone is not recognized, try to connect in recovery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • IPhone 4 - Love the new design, BUT worried about the antenna.

I want an iPhone4, it looks great, and has everything I would want. What worries me is the fact that the antenna is on the outside of the phone, all around the edges. I remember that most radiation from cell phones comes from the antenna, where the signal is received. Does this mean the radiation levels on the new iPhone will be much higher since your hand is fully in contact with stainless steel band?

I don't think Apple will commit such a grave error in phone design to have a device with the antenna touching someone's ear.
I've looked at the pictures located here http://www.apple.com/iphone/gallery/
Looking at the 2'nd pic, in the lower exterior metal band there is a space that separates the lower metal band from the top metal band. The same size and form corresponds with the location of previous Iphone's antenna allocated space.
This can be double checked by going to FCC's test https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits& RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&applicationid=573413&fccid=%27BCG-E2380A%27 and verifying the 11a SAR report file.
At page 27, on the GSM 1900Mhz, having the device parallel and touching the face, the value is 0.73 SAR. Using it in a tilted 15 degrees position (ear touch, lower part about 2 inches away from face), the SAR is 0.30. If the antenna were to be continuous all the way around, the SAR values would not change since the top part is in contact with the ear at all times in both tests.
I hope someone can confirm how the antenna is actually used in the new iPhone, I'm interested too since to me at least, having an antenna emitting so close to the ear means No Buy, antenna away from top = possible buy.

  • I uploaded my pictures to iPhoto, and they were all imported. I then deleted them off of my camera. IPhoto suddenly shut down, and when I reopened it, the pictures were gone, but the album I made was there. Where might the pics be saved?

Just wondering if you guys know if the pictures may have been saved somewhere, or if I can find them in Finder, or anything similar. Any advice?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    TD

  • How do I consolidate all my prior catalogs? Starting with the 1st LR, worried about losing Master image.

I would like to consolidate all my prior catalogs and only deal with the current one in LR5? I do not want to lose any of my prior master images.

    Carefully.
Backup all the catalogues first, so you can always get back to square one. Then open your main catalogue and use File > Import from Another Catalog to bring in the other catalogues.

  • Recently got trial version, worried about losing docs when it expires

I downloaded the 30 day trial version of pages '09 and am not going to purchase it in 30 days. Will the documents that I have created/edited in the new version switch back to pages 08 at the end of the trial?

Will the documents that I have created/edited in the new version switch back to pages 08 at the end of the trial?
Not automatically, but you can save documents in the older format on a document by document basis.

  • Restore - now my phone wont work - not worried about losing content

Tried to change Iphone version from 4.1 to 4.2 on my iPhone 3g,
It starts but requests that I connect to itunes -itunes recognises the iPhone
but says I must use the same sim from mobile service - I have only used 1 sim
Not worried If i lose the data on my iPhone - just want it to run normal again,
    HELP PLEASE!

If Apple did not replace the screen, bring it back to those people who did. Something probably went wrong replacing the screen.
If a 3rd party repair center opened the phone, Apple will not service the unit anymore.

  • I put my music (all my own CDs) from my home computer onto my iPhone.  I would like to upload that music to my office computer.  Not having any luck.  Worried about losing it.

Music from my CDs on my home computer- put that on my iPhone.  Now want to put that on my office computer.  Having trouble, don't want to lose anything.  What should I do?

Best option is to use a secure backup solution on your home computer.  To transfer from iPod to computer you would need to use a 3rd party tool such as TouchCopy (many alternates are available).
