HT6020 How do I change my device to activate the keychain because I don't have the phone number anymore so I would like to change it if possible?

I have been looking through all the ipad situations and the iCloud and icloud keychain and the final part was to recieve a veicfication code through a phone number I no longer have

You can changed the phone number to a different number that can receive sms messages as follows:
In iOS 8, tap Settings > iCloud > Keychain > Advanced. In iOS 7, tap Settings > iCloud > Account > Keychain. Make sure the phone number under Verification Number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
In OS X Mavericks v10.9, choose Apple () > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Account Details. Make sure the phone number under Verification number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.

    Hi CJR
I'm not sure how Time Capsule can be replicated onto your external drive but there is a USB port on the back of TC that can be hooked up to any recent external drive.
Another thing to think about , besides a Time Capsule failure, is the theft of your Time Capsule, so it might be a good idea to consider separating any redundant back-up from your Time Capsule or both my be stolen.
TC will back up until full and then begin deleting the oldest back-ups.  Mine is a 2TB Time capsule.
My back-up plan is as follows:
    1.  Macbook Air back-up on Time Capsule though Time Machine backs up everything - I think it's about every 30 min or so.
    2.  Contacts, reminders, appointments, notes, email are backed up through iCloud.
    3.  iTunes and non-itunes purchased music is on iMatch (and no need to back-up) and any non-iTunes music is backed up on an HP external drive (in case Time Capsule dies)
    4.  Photos are on my MacBook Air and are backed up on my HP external drive.
    5.  Office documents (Excel, Powerpoint, Access etc) are stored in a Skydrive app (like iCloud) and Skydrive syncs these docuemnts with the MS  cloud and my old PC and does not alter their native format like storing in iCloud would do.
    Cheers

The backup files for my devices are saved to my internal hard drive. I have a small internal hard drive and would like them to be saved to an external drive. How can I change where iTunes automatically backs up to?

This has nothing to do with iTunes as iTunes provides no way to move or relocate the backup files.
A search of google or the fourms would reveal ways to create a folder link to relocate the physical location where the files are stored.

This explains how to change your ID: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621.  After changing your ID you will need to go to Settings>iCloud, delete the existing account (which only deletes it from your device, not from iCloud), then sign back in with the new ID.  To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll before deleting the existing account.
If you are signed into your account on your Mac, you will need to go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the new ID.

  • How do I change the phone number on my iPad

Somehow my iPad has my daughters phone number on it how do I change it to mine

Only iPhone numbers that are associated with an Apple ID can be used as the number at which you can be reached for FaceTime. I assume that you share an Apple ID with someone that has an iPhone. My wife, daughter and I all have iPhones and we share on Apple ID for purchases. We all use our own respective iPhone numbers for FaceTime and Messages on our iDevices and Macs.
You have to change the number in Settings>FaceTIme>You can be reached by FaceTime at. Select your own phone number in there and uncheck the phone number that is currently showing. If your own number isn't appearing, you will have to sign out of FaceTime on all iPhones and other iDevices associated with the Apple ID and you may have to sign out of Messages as well on all devices. Then you sign in again on the iPhone first in order to make all of the phone numbers accessible in the settings.
This explains how to link your phone number with FaceTime nd Messages.

  • How do I change the phone number in the iPad?

How can change the phone number in my iPad?

If you have an iPhone on the same icloud account as your iPad, you should be able to connect your phone number to your iPad to get all your iMessages and FaceTime calls there.
First, make sure that both devices are on the same iCloud account.
When they are,  open the settings on your iPhone. Scroll down to "messages" Then, scroll down to find "Send and  receive". Make sure your phone number is listed and check off.
Then, on your iPad, go to settings, and messages again. Find "send and receive". Then, make sure your phone number is checked off in both spots.
You should now be able to send and receive iMessages and FaceTime calls on your iPad from your phone number.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do i change the phone number that my keychain is associated with?

How do i change the phone number that my Keychain is associated with?

    Hello Boogie3339,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please see below on how to change your phone number for iCloud Keychain:
Change how new devices can be approved
After setting up iCloud Keychain on your Mac, you can change whether your iCloud Security Code can be used to approve iCloud Keychain on new devices. You can also change the iCloud Security Code or the phone number used to verify your identity after you use the iCloud Security Code.
In iCloud Preferences, make sure Keychain is on, click Account Details, then change your iCloud Security Code settings.

  • My text messages are coming through with ID as the phone number not the name? How do I change this on iPhone 4S?

All of a sudden this happened yesterday. I didn't change anything it just happened. Any advice on how to put it back they way it was?

talkingqueen56 lets get the device running smoothly again! To make sure I'm on the same page, messages are coming in as the phone number instead of the saved contact? If so, is this happening with iMessages and standard text messages?

  • How do you change the phone number in imessages?

my wife and I share an account and her phone number shows up on my new ipad and am wondering how I change the phone number to reflect my phone number?

I use one Apple ID and can use Messages and FaceTime on four different devices by assigning different email addresses to 3 of the devices. As long as both phone numbers are associated with the one Apple ID, it should be possible to do what you want to do. You may have to turn off and sign out of messages on all devices so that you can get the phone number to appear in Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at.
This should be helpful. Take a look.

  • TS3367 How do I change the phone number in FaceTime on my iPad?

Somehow my daughters phone number is in my settings. I need to change to mine so that I can receive messages and FaceTime on my iPad how do you change it?

    Hi Lori284,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  You can correct your phone number for FaceTime and iMessage by following this article:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
First remove the existing phone number:
    Additional Information
    Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
Then, you can use the top of the article to activate iMessage and FaceTime on the iPhone that uses your correct number.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

How do I change the phone number associated with my ipad mini wifi?

    TestArchitect wrote:
Umm, incorrect. My new ipad retina wifi, and my wifes mini wifi both have a phyone number associated with them, in facetime and imessage. It syncs messages with teh iphone of that number, and facetime calls to that number go into BOTH devices... Yes, both devices ring when that number is sent a facetime request.
Again, anyone know how to change the number phone number associated with a ipad wifi only, for facetime and imessage apps?
Uhmm, no, the number does not belong to the iPad. It belongs to the iPhone the Apple Id used on the iPad is associated with.
If you need to change that number, then you need a different Apple ID that is associated with a different iPhone number. Note, the number must belong to an iPhone with an Apple ID, otherwise it won't work.
The iPad itself has no number associated to it. It is linked to an Apple ID which in turn is linked to an iPhone that has a number.
