HTML background matching flash background
Hey, I have a flash website that opens as a pop up, the pop
auto fullscreens. The background in the flash document is a
gradient, and I have a gradient in the background of the html. My
question is how would I get the background of the HTML to always
match up with the flash background using a percentage?
www.flippingsweet.net/index2.html
Yes that's what I understood; I was also wondering after
reading your
replies if if a getURL couldn't do the job f;i;:
on (release) {
getURL("javascript:document.body.background='new_bg_pic.jpg'");
what would be the disadvantage of this compared to
exterrnalinterface class?

Vertically centered file background matching
How can I have a vertically centered files background match
the background of the html file? I have seen it work, like for
example here:
http://www.aidlindarlingdesign.com/
You can see mine here which does not have the background
working yet:
http://www.agilitygraphics.com/clients/sams
Looks fine, if the browser window is only 600 or close to
that high. But if you open it further, the gradient of the file and
the page background don't match anymore. How would I fix this? Can
I have a transparent background to the file?
Thanks a lot for any help with this!the aidlindarlingdesign site is using a transparent swf to

How to fade html background behind flash?
I was wondering if someone knows of a tutorial or an easy to follow example of flash being popped up over an html page and the background of the page fade to a slightly darker colour so that the flash is more prominent.
I've seen it done and would like to know how its done. An example of what i'm speaking of is here:
http://www.tcpipelineslp.com/
(click on the map)Looks too complicated. It sounds like using this method to fill the browser window would scale my swf to fill the screen when all i want is to keep my project the size i built it at but scale the background.

Flash background is white in browsers
For some reason, flash 2.0 files are now showing with a white
background on my browsers, ie7 and firefox.... this is only
happening on my local machine, other machines are showing the files
as I intended them to be.
I've reinstalled the adobe players, I've reinstalled the
browsers and I've reinstalled javascript... I'm not sure what is
causing this problem. Does anyone have an idea of what I should be
troubleshooting.
You can check out the headers at this location... be aware
that you'll most likely see the headers with white text and a black
background... this is what was intended... however on my local
machine... it shows as white on white...
it seems like a javascript issue?
please help!
thanks,In your html file on Flash you can set a parameter to hide
the background. I do this on all my Flash pieces I insert into a
html document. The parameter is wmode and transparent. -

</object>I have to agree with Ken. Even if you manage to get Flash into the page background (no small feat) people won't be able to interact with it. That's usability problem #1.
#2 Flash is a dead web technology because the world's most popular mobile & tablet devices cannot see Flash content. So you're alienating a lot of people before you've even begun.
Depending on what your Flash file contains, you might want to switch to a responsive jQuery image slider like the ones below.
ResponsiveSlides

Cycle 2
http://www.malsup.com/jquery/cycle2/
Or, use Adobe Edge Animate instead of Flash. Edge Animate outputs to HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript which are supported by all modern devices except IE8 and earlier. For tips on making Edge Animations adapt to screen size, see the following link.

Best way to put flash background on website?
Hello,
I am very new to both after effects and flash and need some help with a few things.
I am trying to put a flash background on my website that will loop over and over.
I created the file in after effects but understand that it is best to export to flash to keep file size down.
I have tried exporting from after affects using F4L, FLV, and XFL and always seem to get a file size of 2-4 MB.
My video is only 8 seconds long and I exported at half resolution so I am unsure why it is so large.
How can I reduce the file size?
When I import F4L and FLV to flash and then export as an SWF file, the file does not work on my website(nothing shows). It seems to only work when I import as an XFL and then export as an SWF.
Also, how do I get the video to loop? Do I do this in flash or in the object tags in my website?
If anyone could please help me out that would be much appreciated.
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.Don`t export to flv from after effects, instead choose png.
You will end up with having your pictures rendered as file001.png....file200.png.
Create a new fla press ctrl+F8 (on PC) and then import the first of the files (file001.png) to the stage. Flash will ask you if you want to import the rest of the animation as well.
Now from the Library you can drag your new created symbol (with the png loop) on stage. Publish it as swf.

Green Screen Background Matching Problem
I have been working on trying to match a background plate to a camera move with green screen elements. I need some help. Looking for someone who might be able to look at the project and give some advice (paid advice).
have spent a bit of time trying different ways of tracking this and none of them were spot on to be honest....
I have emailed to the contact link on your website the best I could get on my tracking programme - it is in a mulitplane node as I mentioned in a previous post.
Take a look - I only did a rough key - so basically what you should do is pull your key - switchmatte it with the original plate and plumb it in to the multiplane through the same input.
If you want to move the position of the BG plate inside the comp then the easiest way is with the move 2d node before multiplane - (you can do it inside but that can be a bit tricky)
BTW - for some reason PFHOE wouldnt accept the dimensions of your origial FG plate so I had to letterbox it to make it 1920x1080 - if you do the same then the track should match
I know its not a perfect result but it is by far the best I could get after trying Stabilizers and smoothcam. If you need better I would suggest trying to find someone with a full copy of PFrack or Bojou who may know a few more little tricks.
hope it helps -
Real People but Flash background
Hi, I have a question but really don't know if it related to
Actionscript tho, hope you guys can help me anyway. I created an
office background in flash by using the drawing tool in flash, now
I have a video with a real person working in an office, I wanted to
import the video to my flash office but only the person without the
real office background. I'm not sure if you know know what I mean
but if you've seen some crazy flash site b4 you may see real ppl
working in a hand drawn background and such. I really wanted to
know how to import such video.
thanksYou will need to shoot your video on a Chroma Key back
ground, either solid Green or Blue. Then in a video editor, you
must remove the Green or Blue backgrouind using the Chroma Key
feature of the video editor. What you have left then is the people.
Then in Flash export your office background (that you developed) as
an image. Import this image into your video editor, then import the
video into the video editor and set it as an overlay, you will have
people with your office background behind them. Save the video!
I hope this helps...

HTML form over Flash bkd in Safari
Hi, I've got a site which uses an animated Flash background
element which is overlayed with a div containing an HTML form. It
works fine in every browser I have, except Safari. In Safari, as
soon as I click in the form, the entire HTML content of the page
disappears. The form and links will still function, but are
invisible.
Does anyone know about this problem? Is there a workaround,
or am I doing something wrong?
The page is
here.
Please note that the site is in a pretty early stage of
development, and not a lot of it works, but at least it
demonstrates the Safari problem.
Thanks!
Michaeli got someone to check on safari if their browser needed
updating for the flash plug-in but it didnt, still no luck with
this... I think I will try a few things and see what happens, any
other ideas though, I really can't explain why its doing
this? -
Showing HTML behind a flash movie
Hi,
I have a div layer containing a flash file which sits on top of some HTML. When the flash file is clicked, an animation is played. After this animation i want the flash file to disapear and the HTML behind the flash file to become clickable.
The flash is an animation of a door opening, to reveal the HTML below it.
I can make a flash file with a transparent background but the HTML below the flash layer is unclickable.
Any ideas how i can make this clickable without refreshing the page? I have attached an example of my situation.
Thanks,
Tony>> P.S. Someone mentioned the "SWFObject method" but I
was curious if there
>> was
another way to do this. Remember the main concern here is
that search
engines
can pick up the text.
That's the way to go if you want search engines to spider a
Flash site.
SWFObject writes the Flash content to a <DIV> on your
page. Inside that div
element, you place your HTML page... you can do dynamic stuff
with PHP,
whatever. If your user doesn't have Flash, or if a spider
hits the page,
they will see the HTML content within the div. If they do
have Flash, then
SWFObject overwrites the div with the Flash, and your user
sees the Flash.
Works a treat...
If you want an example: www.arandell.com
Turn off JavaScript and refresh, and you'll see the HTML
version. Google
spiders this site perfectly.

AOJust let CS5 publish an html file and either build into that page or copy from that page into another. I do not have CS5, so I don't know what it is producing for embedding code. With the newer versions of code, you might need to include javascript files and possibly other lines of code in the html file. Your best bet is to have a working version of the page that Flash produces and just copy any unique stuff from it until your other pages displays what you want.

HTML generated by Flash failed validation test
Hello guys,
I have created a simple Flash website:
http://www.icebergfilms.com
It's HTML was also created in Flash using Publish Settings. However, when I tried to validate this HTML using online validator, it failed the test:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.icebergfilms.com%2F&charset=%28detect+a utomatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0&No200=1&verbose=1&user-agent=W3C_Validator%2F1.654
I am a complete novice in Flash and in HTML, so could please anyone give me some advise how to fix this?
Thank you so much for your help.Thank you so much for your response.
I actually did try (with help of some guys from html forum) to use text editor to generate HTML and simply just embed that swf file onto that HTML document.
It works well, but there is one little problem. Very first thing viewer see (after clicking on URL to upload my site) is black background with
white rectangle which is the space where swf movie will appear. It last around 2-3 seconds. Then preloader appears and everything goes normal. But this white empty space before preloader shows up is very weird.
here is that code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">

</html>
This white space does not happened when using HTML generated by Flash, however, that one on the other hand misses some basic elements.
Should I then maybe just use the code above , delete this BODY sectiont:
<div>
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="IcebergFilms.swf" width="810" height="600">
<param name="movie" value="IcebergFilms.swf">
<param name="play" value="true">
<param name="loop" value="true">
<param name="quality" value="high">
</object>
</div>
and replace it with BODY section from Flash generated HTML?
I apologize for this chaotic post, but I am trying to create the correct code for about 2 weeks now, and I am starting to lose it
Thanks again for your response .... and for your patience. -
Re-build HTML Form in Flash?
Hi
Wonder if someone can help. Please excuse my incompetence, I am fairly new to Flash / Actionscript
Basically I am trying to re-build this simple HTML form in Flash, I have not shown the actual URL here, but this is a functioning form when the correct URL is in place:
<form action="http://www.customersURLhere/" method="post">
<input type="text" name="vrm"/>
<input type="submit" value="go"/>
<input type="hidden" name="update" value="false"/>
<input type="hidden" name="source" value="aexp"/>
<input type="hidden" name="supplier" value="AEMP" />
</form>
I have attempted to re-build this in flash. I have 1 text input field which I have set the variable name to 'vrm' to match the input field above. I then created a basic flash button and set the following action:
on (release) {update = "false";source = "aexp";
supplier = "AEMP";
getURL ("http://www.customersURLhere", "", "POST");
Can anyone spot any obvious errors???
Any help would really be appreciated.Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately I am still struggling to get this to work.
I have applied your script to the button, is that correct? (The button is on it's own layer and has one keyframe at the start or the movie.)
Do I need to label/name the button 'submitBtn' in some way?
You added a comment '//do whatever'... do I need to add something here?
Sorry, I'm a complete novice!! -
Opening an HTML popup from Flash, not as tab
Hi
I need to open an HTML popup from Flash (using ActionScript in
Flex 4).
Thus far I found a solution, and it does work in Safari - a new
and separate HTML window is popped up (with a new web page).
private function popUpTheHtmlEditor():void {
var url:String = "http://www.adobe.com";
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
try {
navigateToURL(request, '_blank');
} catch (e:Error) {
trace("Error occurred!");
But in (my) Firefox (with my settings), when I click on the Flash
(Flex) button, the page is being opened in a new tab.
I need a solution which pops up the HTML page in a new/separate
window, as far as possible regardless of the browser (and browser
settings).
I found an example where a popup is opened from HTML, and it opens a
separate window (a real popup) in my Firefox:
http://www.gtalbot.org/FirefoxSection/Popup/PopupAndFirefox.html
-> "Open a requested popup"
The JavaScript code seems to be:
OpenRequestedPopup(this.href, this.target); return false;
with this function def:
function OpenRequestedPopup(strUrl, strTarget)
if (WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup == null || WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup.closed)
WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup = window.open(strUrl, strTarget, "top=" + windowTop + ",left=" + windowLeft + ",width=" + windowWidth + ",height=" + windowHeight + ",menubar,toolbar,location,resizable,scrollbars,status");
else
if(WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup.focus)
WindowObjectReferenceOfRequestedPopup.focus();
How could I call such code from ActionScript? Should this work through
ExternalInterface? I couldn't even get this to work:
ExternalInterface.call('alert', 'foo');
Should I use swfobject.js for embedding the .swf in the HTML wrapper?
Any other ideas?
The two files are pasted below.
Here's the compiler command I'm using:
mxmlc -output button.swf -target-player 10.0.0 flash_to_editor.mxml
I'm running the examples locally (as files, not over http). Would it
help to place the files on a server?

</html>Hi,
Here's a solution.
1. Make ExternalInterface work when files are loaded as local files:
Go to
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l
In tab Global Security Settings: Edit Locations -> Add Location ->
browse to the .swf file, add it. Make sure it's in the list (under the
Edit Locations drop down, with a green check mark.)
Now open the HTML wrapper in a browser (eg Firefox).
Now this works (ActionScript):
private function popUpTheHtmlEditor():void {
ExternalInterface.call('alert', 'foo');
On Windows: perhaps:
http://techjig.blogspot.com/2008/03/flash-global-security-settings-windows.html
"In order for external interface functions to be called, you must also
specify the folder/file where the swf file is located."
The above setup isn't necessary when the files are on a server.
Also see:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/external/External Interface.html#call()

"Using the ExternalInterface API to access JavaScript"
2. Open a real popup: Example:
ActionScript:
private function popUpSomething():void {
var editorPathOrUrl:String =
'wrapper.html';
var windowName:String =
"SomeNameSeeDocs";
var windowFeatures:String =
"toolbar=yes,menubar=yes,location=yes,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=500,height=700";
ExternalInterface.call(
'launch',editorPathOrUrl,windowName,windowFeatures
JavaScript:
function launch(editorPathOrUrl,windowName,windowFeatures) {
windowRef = window.open(
editorPathOrUrl,windowName,windowFeatures
Works in all browser I tested except Opera.
