Vertically centered file background matching

How can I have a vertically centered files background match
the background of the html file? I have seen it work, like for
example here:

Looks fine, if the browser window is only 600 or close to
that high. But if you open it further, the gradient of the file and
the page background don't match anymore. How would I fix this? Can
I have a transparent background to the file?

the aidlindarlingdesign site is using a transparent swf to
display the soft edges around their content. Google "transparent
swf" and you will find a multitude of competent tutorials on how to
do this.

Vertical Centering of a page in GoLive

The contents are stuck to the top as I resize the window. It seems like I am missing some point. I copy and paste my current code. Could you please give me more advice?

Instead of pointing to local files, re-matched library lists all local files as duplicates

I've got a mess. I moved my matched local music files from my internal drive to a larger external drive. I deleted the iTunes folder on the internal drive, created a new library by changing the location of my music library in iTunes preferences and adding all of the files on the external drive.
When I turned match back on, my cloud-based matched files no longer pointed to my local versions. Instead, match listed everything as a duplicate -- a copy in the cloud and a local copy even though the two copies are exactly the same, previously matched files.
I've added files to my cloud library from numerous computers -- so my cloud library is the most complete -- and I was in the process of creating one local, consolidated library on my new external drive by downloading those files from match. There has to be a way to re-sync both local and match libraries with everything matched as it previously was withouth having to either delete and re-upload or delete and re-download.
Any tips, instruction or help will be greatly apprieciated.

To try to clean this up is going to take some work on your part but it isn't impossible. Start off with one album or artist at a time and delete them from the cloud. Then you should be able to select the corrosponding locally stored tracks, right click them, and choose "add to iCloud." This should re-initiate a scan on those tracks and add them to the cloud.

Why is vertical centering still such a challenge?

Is it really still this tricky to code DW to allow easy vertical centering? Just wondering. Tools for web design have been around long enough, and yet, simply vertically centering an image remains... elusive. Sure - if you know exactly how to do it, or remember it, or figure it out.... sometimes I can get it to work with relative ease; other times, not so much.
Really, though - no vertical center button anywhere? (I may have missed it.)
Now, I admit, I have some homework to do; in the mean time, though, is there any guide someone can recommend?
I'd like to both center divs vertically as well as center their content vertically, and not necessarily both at the same time... preferably using css.

as to why this is this case is presumably because as the width of an element shrinks, margins-top and position-top and height are contingent on that allowed width. But margin-top and margin-bottom by default are set to auto. This may make it seem like vertical alignments should occur naturally, but it does not. This is because behind the scenes auto is converted to 0. Meaning that Height auto is automatically set to 100% of its containers height leaving no room for margin-top or margin-bottom. Vertical formatting of block level normal flow elements, relies on a calculation much like horizontal formatting. margin-top+border-top+padding-top+height+padding-bottom+border-bottom+margin-bottom must equal its parenting elements height. However if you use absolutely positioned elements, then if all three of 'top', 'height', and 'bottom' are not auto: If both 'margin-top' and 'margin-bottom' are 'auto', solve for top+ margin-top+border-top+padding-top+height+padding-bottom+border-bottom+margin-bottom +bottom must equal its parenting elements height. Therefore, margin-top and margin-bottom will be equal values thus vertically centering the element.

After I click yes, the page is blank. The file is about 400kb in size.

Per your post, this problem might be caused by malware on the affected machine.

In order to clean your machine, run Microsoft Safety Scanner (http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx) to kill the malware, and then repair Excel file itself.

i am getting above error while registering RTF template in oracle application e -business suite using XML publisher admistrator responsibility.
My work :
i generated xml output using concurrent program.

In DVDSP3, I wanted to to open the file "Background.mov"

In DVDSP3, I wanted to to open the file "Background.mov" that's part of an Apple template. But the template folder is empty, and a search for the file doesn't find it. However, both the template and the mov file are working. How do I find/open such things?

right click on the dvd app to show "package contents"
remember that it's dicey changing these stock templates.

IPhone: Vertically centering UILabel text

The UILabel permits horizontal centering of its text via the textAlignment property, but there seems to be no way to align the text vertically. I have 3 labels, the last holding from one line to several. It if only has a single line, the text is vertically centered giving a big gap from he previous text. That looks uncool. (and in the Mac world, cool is everything). Is there some secret magical way to get UILabel to vertically center is text as well, or do I need to abandon labels and just drop down to drawRect.

Check out NSString(UIStringDrawing). It has the following method, which you can use to calculate the size of the text as it would be in the label. Then you can set the label height to the minimum necessary for the text, which will solve your vertically centering problem.

FCP giving a vertical stretch to Quicktime file with matching seq. settings

I created a moving background that contains a logo in After Effects and rendered it out as a Quicktime movie with the DV/NTSC 720 x 480 settings. The file looks great when I open it in Quicktime. However, when I import it in to my Final Cut sequence, it's stretching slightly...enough to distort the logo. My FCP sequence setting is the DV/DVCPRO preset. 720 x 480.
Any idea why it's doing this? If I go in to "distort," I can adjust the aspect ratio to look normal, but then I have a black letterbox look.

Sounds like After Effects was set to square pixels (pixel aspect). Look for the 0.9 pixel aspect setting or export as 720x540 square pixels.

Centering a background image [was: How is this done.. what am I doing wrong....]

I am kinda new to DW. I have a .jpg that is 1000pixels wide and 1100 pixies tall which I want to use as the background for my site. I want that image to be centered (not justified left). Next I want two tables on top of that image. The first one will be for my buttons/links and the second will be for any text and images that will appear below the buttons.
I have got this to work in DW and it looks fine when I preview it in a browser. However, after uploading it, my background image disappears and I get a question mark.

Did you upload it to the server? BTW I'm not too keen on using a leading underscore in file or folder names. Why not just name it "images?"
Finally, trying to precisely align images and text over a huge background image is very challenging. It works in Print design but isn't an ideal way to work with web pages. Be sure to test your site often in all browsers and available text sizes. You may be in for some big surprises if you don't.

How can I return all line in a file that matches using regexp

I want to return whole line from a file. This lines must to contains matches for a pattern.
How Can I do this.
I make some samples, but only return the matches segment of the line.
Sample code to look for 00:00
If I put .*00:00.* in the pattern this return whole line, but is to slow in this file about 300,000 lines.
If I put just 00:00 in the pattern only return the 00:00, but so fast.
What can I Do, or I must use indexOf in a sequential read?

Grep is a Bad Idea (TM). It is not java and itties
es the solution to a the operational system.Not necessarily bad. Like you say--we don't know much
about the OP's requirements, so grep may be just
fine.

What if he is using Windows or MacOS? Sure he can use grep on non *nix systems, but that would fore him to install the necessary tools, making his solution even more complex.

Photoshop Elements 10 - 'Save As' text no longer displaying existing file, which matches the text so far entered

Photoshop Elements 10 (On Windows 8.1 64-bit laptop)
Until recently, 'save as' showed any existing file name, which exactly matched the text so far typed.
That's particularly useful when creating multiple photo files, with suffixes of '(1)', '(2)', etc.
Suddenly that great facility has stopped, forcing me to always type the complete file name for each new item.
I assume that a setting has been lost.
How do I get it back?

I held the keys down for at least 15 seconds in my previous attempts.
I’ve just tried the entries, holding the keys for around 30 seconds, with the same results (or lack of same).
Thinking about my thought of copying the Preference settings from the same program on my desktop, I looked on the Internet for Photoshop Elements 10 Preferences file locations. I found a display, which suggested: C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements (9.0\10.0\11.0)\Editor
From that, it appears that mine may be held in:
C:\Users\Fred Niven\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Editor
But I’m reluctant to copy any such file from my Windows 8.1 desktop’s Photoshop Elements 10’s file(s),
to replace the equivalent file(s) on this laptop, until I know that I’m replacing the correct file(s).
I’d create a System Restore Point beforehand anyway, just-in-case.

Question on spry vertical menu bar backgrounds

I have a spry vertical menu bar. The menu branches off to 3 or 4 levels in some cases. When you mouse over the menu structure the menu path that you have selected turns a different color. I acheived this by giving
ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarItemHover, ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarItemSubmenuHover, ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarSubmenuVisible
a different text color and also a different background color using CSS. The thing I want to acheive now is to somehow make listings within my menu structure that are clickable links a slightly different color. This is to signal that a menu selection that is currently being hovered over is indeed clickable (and linked to another page). For example, most of my clickable menu listings are at the end of a menu branches. That is to say the menu listing at the 1st and 2nd level are not clickable (linked to another page) but the listing that falls at the end of the menu branch is clickable.
How can I make the menu listings that link to other pages a different color then the other menu listings that do not link anywhere but are instead just the preceding struture to get you to the end of the menu structure?
Currently menu listings which merely branches off and do not link to a clickable page have a reference of "#" as shown below.

This "#" was put there by Dreamweaver so I just followed the pattern. Clickable menu listings reference another HTML page as you would expect.

Thanks for the reply (it helped me know how to approach it). It looks like editing
ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarItemSubmenuHover
will give me the behavior I was looking for. I don't know if that is what I want to do now that I look at it though. Using different colored backgrounds when hovering over links seems to contrast too much (even though some are clickable and others are not). Perhaps I didn't have the right color choice.
Instead I thought about emphasizing links that are clickable (with some type of visual variation) as opposed to making the hovering background color path to those clickable links different. I experimented with placing a 1 inch border around links in the menu that can be clicked but I am not sure if I like it or not.
I am using a background color of #7D120C for the hover. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Offline Files (Background) Sync makes File Explorer and other programs responding slow

Hi TechNet,
I have a problem with Offline Files and
especially with VPN users.
For VPN users, the slow-link
policy is activated with a background
sync interval of one hour. But, when Offline Files is syncing, their File Explorer is hanging (not responding) by creating new files/folders, deleting files/folder, or rename files/folders. This happens only in their (redirected)UserData
folder or with other DFS shares which are cached locally. In other programs (Outlook or Office 2010) when they save data in the UserData folder exactly the same things happens (not responding).
This problem occurs in both the
internal network and via VPN, so bandwidth is
not the problem. When the sync is finished, everything is working fine again.
I've tested:
- Offline mode with scheduled background sync: problem occurs
- Online mode with manual sync: problem occurs
- Rebuild offline cache database: no effect
- Tested with fresh Windows 8(.1) installations and user profiles: problem occurs
- Monitoring SMB traffic with WireShark: no result
- Montoring Windows 8(.1) clients with procmon: no result
- Tested with full DFS paths: problem occurs
- Disable IPv6: problem occurs
- Disable Windows Search: problem occurs
- Browsing in the Offline Files folder (Sync Center -> Manage Offline Files -> View Offline Files) is very slow (with +- 200 files). This occurs also when Offline Files is not syncing.
Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem?

First, sorry for the late response, I have tested a few things for you:
Offline mode with background sync over a VPN connection: During scheduled sync File Explorer hangs. When bypass the cache by using a UNC path (State: Online) there is also a delay, but this is caused by bandwidth.
Online Mode with Manual Sync over a LAN connection: During sync File Explorer hangs in (redirected)UserData Folders (They are always available offline, maybe this is a problem?). With UNC paths, there is no delay…
The first folder/file is created slowly, but the second is fast.
