HTML of image into JEditorPane

I was wondering is it possible put HTML text into JEditorPane which contains image so that image can be viewed into JEditorPane.
This is my code:
JEditorPane jep = new JEditorPane();
          jep.setContentType("text/html");
          jep.setText("<html><img src=\"SomeImage.bmp\"/></html>");
          jep.setEditable(false);Did I write wrong HTML code into setText() method?
How to put image with HTML code into JEditorPane?

Works for me -- maybe you are having path problems:
import java.io.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class Test {
public static void main(String[] args) throws
IOException {
String text = "<html><body><img
src=\"http://today.java.net/jag/bio/JagHeadshot.jpg\"
</img></body></html>";
JEditorPane editorpane = new
JEditorPane("text/html", text);
JFrame f = new JFrame();
f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
f.getContentPane().add(new
JScrollPane(editorpane));
f.setSize(800,600);
f.setVisible(true);
}Also: why the requirement to use JEditorPane? There
are simplier ways to display an image!Your String text variable uses as image source URL link. I use local file.
Well, it's not strict requirement for me to use JEditorPane for displaying image. In fact, you could tell me some simpler ways?

  • Html files, images and JEditorPane

    Hello all,
    I've got some HTML file that need be displayed in a JEditorPane. Those HTMLs contain image references and I'm using relative paths to those jpegs, for example:
    <img src="image.GIF">
    ...where image.gif is in the same folder as the HTML file that contains the reference. Now I'm displaying this HTML file inside a JEditorPane and I get only a placeholder instead of the image; only text gets displayed properly.
    Here's how I'm constructing the JEditorPane instance:
              pane = new JEditorPane();
              pane.setEditable(false);
              pane.setContentType("text/html");
              HTMLEditorKit kit = new HTMLEditorKit();
              kit.createDefaultDocument();
              pane.setEditorKit(kit);and later...
          try {
              URL u = new URL("file", "localhost", ivHelpPath);
              pane.setPage(u);
            } catch (IOException iox) {
            }I saw on some other thread that I should be setting the document's base URL for the reference I get from getDocument(), but that does not seem to work when I use "http://localhost/" to make my URL object.
    So... help! :)
    Thanks much.

    Not sure what you're trying to do with new URL( "file" "localhost", ...
    Try this code and see if it helps you - display a page that already exists though - perhaps that's the diff?
        JTextPane() jtp = new JTextPane(); //JEditorPane();
        jtp.setEditable( false );
        JScrollPane jsp = new JScrollPane( jtp,
                                     JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED,
                                     JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED );
        ( ( HTMLEditorKit ) ( jtp.getEditorKit() ) ).setLinkCursor( new Cursor( Cursor.HAND_CURSOR ) );
        jtp.addHyperlinkListener( new HyperlinkListener() {
          public void hyperlinkUpdate( HyperlinkEvent hle ) {
            try {
              if ( hle.getEventType() == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ACTIVATED )
                jtp.setPage( hle.getURL() );
            } catch( Exception e ) {
              // do something;
        });... There's also code here that will activate hyperlinks which you may or may not want. But this will display embedded .gif files.

  • Using HTML component Images within a tilelist

    I have a very complicated problem and I'm not sure it's even within my ability to achieve if at all but basically in my AIR application I currently have a tilelist populated by a data provider of images which are essentially thumbnail snapshots I've made of websites. When each of these images is clicked within the tilelist they take the user to that specific site. I now however want these images to be live i.e. they change as the site changes.
    I've decided to use html components for all of these sites to get these images but I now want these images to be set up as a dataprovider for a tilelist. It's hard to explain so to show what I mean I've made the following code. Basically I want the 2 images/displays that are displayed within the 2 html components to be static i.e. the user can't interact with the sites through them but can simply click on them to go to the site and to be put within a dataprovider somehow that will act as the dataprovider for the imageDisplay tilelist Complicated I know but the guy I'm making the app for wants the images of sites to update themselves and this is the easiest way to do it I've heard :-
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:WindowedApplication
    xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
    <mx:Canvas width="100%" height="100%">
    <mx:HTML id="content1" location="http://www.adobe.com/" width="300" height="300"/>
    <mx:HTML id="content2" location="http://www.google.com/" x="308" width="300" height="300"/>
    <mx:TileList x="0" y="308" width="772" height="300" id="imageDisplay"></mx:TileList>
    </mx:Canvas>
    </mx:WindowedApplication>

    To show you what I mean better here is a partial bit of my code from my existing app in which I've just used static images in the tilelists. The real app is much more advanced but this is to just give you an idea. Users can drag site icons displayed in a tilelist into their own tilelist and then click the save button so these icons will still be in their tilelist when they restart the app. I used the shared object method for this to get it to save these details. As you can see in my code starting at around line 33 I've used an array collection for this. What I need is to somehow get these html live images into that array collection as opposed to the static jpgs I have at the moment.

  • How the heck do i display an image in jeditorpane???

    Ive search the site and i still cant find any info on how to enter an image into jeditorpane, i know its possible cause i can display web pages in it without a hitch
    cheers-

    earljavadev's answer was pretty straightforward.
    it's only one way to do it, but just follow his directions to get the code at the bottom. there are other insert*** methods that you can call to get content into the document as well.
    // *** code folows ***
    Document doc = myJEditorPane.getDocument();
    String imageFile = "myImage.png"; // get the image from a filechooser if you want
    Style style = doc.addStyle("StyleName", null); // ignored
    StyleConstants.setIcon(style, new ImageIcon(imageFile));
    try
    doc.insertString(doc.getLength(),
    "ignored text", style);
    catch (BadLocationException ble)
    System.err.println("BadLocationException: " + ble);

  • Problem to display Animated Gif from HTML into JEditorPane

    I have a problem displaying animated gif that comes from URL (HTML) into JEditorPane.

    package test.advertserver;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.io.IOException;
    public class Test {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              JFrame frame = new JFrame();
              JEditorPane ed = new JEditorPane();
              try {
                   ed.setPage("http://localhost:8200/servlet?key=value");
              } catch (IOException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              JPanel panel = new JPanel();
              panel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(500, 500));
              panel.add(ed);
              frame.getContentPane().add(panel);
              frame.pack();
              frame.setVisible(true);
    }Part of the returned from servlet HTML includes an img tag:
    <img src="/images/MyAnimatedGif.gif" alt="animated gif comment" width="480" height="50"  border="0">Let us assume that MyAnimatedGif.gif has 10 frames and gif is looped - when the 10th is dipslayed it has to display the 1st and so on.
    JEditorPane displays frames from 1 to 10 correctly but does not start from the first again. Instead JEditorPane displays a broken image.
    I locate where the problem arise:
    JEditorPane has an HTMLEditorKit that creates javax.swing.text.html.ImageView instance for every IMG tag.
    And here is the problem:
    ImageView has an ImageObserver necessary for the asynchronous image download. ImageObserver has the imageUpdate method. But this imageUpdate method is never called with ALLBITS flag raised up. Instead, after the last frame of MyAnimatedGif.gif is downloaded the imageUpdate method is called with flag ERROR raised up. Obviously this is a bug of Sun's implementation. Finaly the flag ALLBITS has to be received for normal end of image observing. But ALLBITS flag does not come.
    So, can anybody help me how to load an animated gif within JEditorPane completely.
    Thank You in advance,
    Dobromir Gospodinov
    P.S. If somebody of you wants to debbug what happens within ImageView will have to implement it (and related classes too, because of the limited package visability) borrowing the source from Sun's ImageView.

    I'm also having this problem with java 1.4.1 I discovered that some animated gifs work fine, while others stop animating. Running with java 1.3.1 fixed the problem. I'm going to report this as a bug

    hi srikkant,
    ur html code is inside the source code..? are you working on applets..? if ur html file can be read as a file and the file stream can converted to a string and put into a Jeditor pane using the setText() method. for editing HTML text a editor called javax.swing.text.html.HTMLEditorKit can be used.
    Refer to JAVA API for further clarifiactions and examples.

            editorPane.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(640, 700));
            frame.add(editorPane);
            frame.pack();
            frame.setVisible(true);
    }Then the HTML file displays correctly to the screen.
    How could I get it to give me an array of pixel colors or something else that I can take as an image and input into a PDF Generator like iText or PDFBox.
    Also, could we get a better resolution or anti aliasing in order to make the it look better for printing?

    This has been moved to the Swing forum under the title "High Resolution HTML to Image Conversion"

  • Problem in uploading an image into a CM repository!!

    Hi All,
         I am trying to use the Fileupload element in JSP dynpage.
         My screen has the Fileupload element and a button.
         <b>I want to upload an image into a CM repository.</b>
         I have put <hbj:form id="myFormId" encodingType="multipart/form-data" > in my jsp page.
         The <b>'onClick'</b> method is <b>'onLoadFile'</b>.
         <i><b>The following is my code:</b></i>
    public void onLoadFile(Event event)
                   FileUpload fu =
                        (FileUpload) this.getComponentByName("myfileupload");
                   if (fu != null) {
                        //    Get file parameters
                        IFileParam fileParam = fu.getFile();
                        //    Get the temporary file name
                        File f = fileParam.getFile();
                        String fileName = fileParam.getFileName();
                        //    Get the selected file name
                        String ivSelectedFileName = fu.getFile().getSelectedFileName();
                        try {
                             int len = (int) f.length();
                             byte a[] = new byte[len];
                             FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream(f);
                             fin.read(a);
                             String FileContent = a.toString();
                             IPortalComponentRequest request =
                                  (IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
                             com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser user =
                                  (com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser) request.getUser().getUser();
                             IResourceFactory factory = ResourceFactory.getInstance();
                             IResourceContext context = new ResourceContext(user);
                             RID rid = RID.getRID("/documents/test");
                             IResource resource = factory.getResource(rid, context);
                             if (resource != null) {
                                  ICollection parent =
                                       (ICollection) ResourceFactory
                                            .getInstance()
                                            .getResource(
                                            rid,
                                            context);
                                  String out = new String(FileContent);
                                  ByteArrayInputStream data =
                                       new ByteArrayInputStream(out.getBytes());
                                  IContent content =
                                       new Content(data, "text/html", data.available());
                                  IResource fileResource =
                                       parent.createResource(fileName, null, content);
                        } catch (Exception e) {
                   <b>..... REMAINING CODE...</b>
    I uploaded <b>abc.jpg (<i>size: 2KB</i>)</b>, then, an image file with the same-name is being created in the <b>/documents/test</b> folder but the size is <b>10Bytes</b> only. <b>I am not able to see the image</b> too.
    Can any1 help me plzzzz??? Would appreciate any kind of help.
    Thanks in advance.
    <b>

    Sai Krishna.</b>

    I would guess that this is because of the way you try to read the file contents. Maybe you should add some debug statements to find out what you're realling setting as content. It's certainly not KM's fault.
    The following sequence of statements looks wrong:
    nt len = (int) f.length();
    byte a[] = new byte[len];
    FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream(f);
    fin.read(a);
    String FileContent = a.toString();
    IPortalComponentRequest request =
    (IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
    com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser user =
    (com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser) request.getUser().getUser();
    IResourceFactory factory = ResourceFactory.getInstance();
    IResourceContext context = new ResourceContext(user);
    RID rid = RID.getRID("/documents/test");
    IResource resource = factory.getResource(rid, context);
    if (resource != null) {
    ICollection parent =
    (ICollection) ResourceFactory
    .getInstance()
    .getResource(
    rid,
    context);
    String out = new String(FileContent);
    ByteArrayInputStream data =
    new ByteArrayInputStream(out.getBytes());
    IContent content =
    new Content(data, "text/html", data.available());
    Why don't you just pass the FileInputStream into the Content object's constructor???
    Best regards, Julian

  • How do I add multiple images into one file?

    I'm sure this is something that's been covered in another post (or even in the help portal) but I think my wording in my search terms are not correct or... I don't know, because I just can't find what I'm looking for.
    I want to know how to add multiple images into one file/one image, both horizontally and/or vertically. To give you an idea of what I mean, check out :
    http://www.best10apps.com/apps/comic-story,531596060.html
    If you scroll down, you'll see a heading entitled : Screenshots of Comic Story. Notice how there's 3 pictures (divided by borders). 2 of those pictures are side by side, and 1 of them is below the first 2 pictures.
    I want to know how to add different pictures/images and put them into one picture.

    One way is to create template PSD files and populate them with your images using Photoshops scripts.
    Photo Collage Toolkit UPDATED June 12, added Picture Package Support via PasteImageRoll and BatchPicturePackage scripts.
    The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
    There are eleven scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
    TestCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to test a Photo Collage Template while you are making it with Photoshop.
    CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - Can build Templates compatible with this toolkit's scripts.
    LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - Used to convert a Prototype Image Layer stack into a template document.
    InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - Used to interactively populate Any Photo Collage template. Offers most user control inserting pictures and text.
    ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - use to replace a populated collage image Smart Object layer with an other image correctly resized and positioned.
    ChangeTextSize.jsx - This script can be used to change Image stamps text size when the size used by the populating did not work well.
    PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.
    BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Collage templates that only have one image inserted. The Collage or Image may be stamped with text.
    BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
    BatchPicturePackage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with an image in a source image folder
    PasteImageRoll.jsx - Paste Images into a document to be print on roll paper.

  • How to insert a pdf or jpeg image into a blob column of a table

    How to insert a pdf or jpeg image into a blob column of a table

    Hi,
    Try This
    Loading an image into a BLOB column and displaying it via OAS
    The steps are as follows:
    Step 1.
    Create a table to store the blobs:
    create table blobs
    ( id varchar2(255),
    blob_col blob
    Step 2.
    Create a logical directory in the database to the physical file system:
    create or replace directory MY_FILES as 'c:\images';
    Step 3.
    Create a procedure to load the blobs from the file system using the logical
    directory. The gif "aria.gif" must exist in c:\images.
    create or replace procedure insert_img as
    f_lob bfile;
    b_lob blob;
    begin
    insert into blobs values ( 'MyGif', empty_blob() )
    return blob_col into b_lob;
    f_lob := bfilename( 'MY_FILES', 'aria.gif' );
    dbms_lob.fileopen(f_lob, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile( b_lob, f_lob, dbms_lob.getlength(f_lob) );
    dbms_lob.fileclose(f_lob);
    commit;
    end;
    Step 4.
    Create a procedure that is called via Oracle Application Server to display the
    image.
    create or replace procedure get_img as
    vblob blob;
    buffer raw(32000);
    buffer_size integer := 32000;
    offset integer := 1;
    length number;
    begin
    owa_util.mime_header('image/gif');
    select blob_col into vblob from blobs where id = 'MyGif';
    length := dbms_lob.getlength(vblob);
    while offset < length loop
    dbms_lob.read(vblob, buffer_size, offset, buffer);
    htp.prn(utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2(buffer));
    offset := offset + buffer_size;
    end loop;
    exception
    when others then
    htp.p(sqlerrm);
    end;
    Step 5.
    Use the PL/SQL cartridge to call the get_img procedure
    OR
    Create that procedure as a function and invoke it within your PL/SQL code to
    place the images appropriately on your HTML page via the PL/SQL toolkit.
    from a html form
    1. Create an HTML form where the image field will be <input type="file">. You also
    need the file MIME type .
    2. Create a procedure receiving the form parameters. The file field will be a Varchar2
    parameter, because you receive the image path not the image itself.
    3. Insert the image file into table using "Create directory NAME as IMAGE_PATH" and
    then use "Insert into TABLE (consecutive, BLOB_OBJECT, MIME_OBJECT) values (sequence.nextval,
    EMPTY_BLOB(), 'GIF' or 'JPEG') returning BLOB_OBJECT, consecutive into variable_blob,
    variable_consecutive.
    4. Load the file into table using:
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile(variable_blob, variable_file_name, dbms_lob.getlength(variable_file_name));
    dbms_lob.fileclose(variable_file_name);
    commit.
