HTML + SWF + Custom chrome

Hello all,
I'm constructing an HTML based AIR application and I would
like to use a few SWF elements in it (in the normal way that you
use flash files on a web-site). However, I would also like to use a
custom chrome (i.e. not the system one) - is this possible with
AIR? Whenever I try it the swf is simply invisible - there is space
for the element on the page (using the introspector we can see
that). I have put a bug report in about this, but is there a work
around, or an imminent update which will fix it?
Thanks
Allan

This is a known limitation of AIR. You can use custom chrome,
it is transparency that causes the problem with SWF and PDF content
displayed in HTML.
Depending on what you are doing, you might still be able to
use transparency by adding the SWF elements directly to the window
stage rather than adding them to the DOM in the HTML page. This is
fairly easy if the SWF elements are in a fixed position. It becomes
harder to manage if they need to scroll with the page, however.
See "Adding SWF content as an overlay on an HTML window" in
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.1/devappshtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7e0a. html

  • HTML5 Logic Failing in Cases in jquery-custom-chrome.html

    Hi All,
Might a member of the team familiar with the logic executed through jquery-custom-chrome.html be able to provide me guidance on how it can be made more robust and reliable?
I have been testing the jquery-custom-chrome.html using the query param favorFlashOverHtml5Video=false here:
    http://osmf.org/dev/1.5gm/jquery-custom-chrome.html?favorFlashOverHtml5Video=false
The logic works fine on Chrome on Windows (version 7.0.517.44).
The logic works fine on Safari on Windows (version 4.0.5 (531.22.7)) but is failing on Safari on Windows (version 5.0.3 (7533.19.4))
The logic also is failing on Firefox on Windows (version 3.5.8), and on Opera on Windows (version 10.63, Build 3516).
For the failing cases, I posted at the following link the exact same file from the SMP 1.5 distribution with a simple HTML5 video tag working alongside:
    http://flexFlashVideo.com/codesamples/2010/Strobe_Media_Playback/v1.5gm_10.1_jquery_HTML5_ logic_failing?favorFlashOverHtml5Video=false
Note:  The link above adds (along to the right) a second, plain-vanilla HTML5 video player (plain-vanilla meaning no JavaScript logic involved). I added the plain-vanilla version to confirm that the media is hosting correctly.  For Firefox and Opera, the plain-vanilla version plays while the jquery-custom-chrome.html fails.
Any hints would be appreciated on how I can adjust the player's logic to get it to working with these additional browsers.
    Thanks,
    g

Thank you guys for your support
My air application descriptor is pointing to the "index.html" of my web application:
    <initialWindow>
    <content>index.html</content>
    <visible>true</visible>
    <width>1024</width>
    <height>786</height>
    </initialWindow>
So I don't even know whether or not I'm using the HTMLLoader but with the help of @wadedwalker's hint, I was able to find the following link:
    http://anirudhsasikumar.net/blog/2007.12.19.html
This is working! However as wadedwalker mentioned, the video is now played in a small box on top of my HTML pages left upper corner. If I understand you guy's correctly, it is not possible to embed this video box into a certain HTML element, right?
Would it be possible to make the video play in full screen, add the player controls and a button to close this pop-up?
It's okay for me to have some AIR specific JavaScript here, I can handle this in a build script and only embed the code when the AIR version for the iPads is build.
    Thanks in advance,
    J.

  • Can't export to AIR with Windows Style as Custom Chrome (transparent)

I can export to AIR with Xcelsius SP1 and FP1 as long as the Windows Style is set to either System Chrome or Custom Chrome (Opaque). However, if I choose Custom Chrome (transparent), it does not generate the AIR file but also does not create an error.
I had the network connectivity issue talked about in other threads so I could not export at all before but resolved that by taking my laptop home and exporting here. Now it works except for exporting to transparent.
    Versions installed with correct paths:
    FLEX SDK: 3.2
    JRE: 1.6.0_07
    AIR: 1.5

    Andy,
I'm also beginning to have this issue but it's new to me as I had to set up a new machine today. It has Xcelsius '08 SP1/FP1, Flex SDK 3.3 and J2RE 1.4.2.19. I've previously been able to export using the Custom chrome (transparent) option but I haven't been able to make a thorough examination of the two machines. One major difference is that the machine having the issue is a VM while the other is not. I did a little digging around and found this post on another forum. By the date on the post, this is a rather old problem.

Post subject: XCelsius 2008 - Exporting to AIR Hi, I just wanted to share a problem we've experienced when exporting our Xcelsius dashboards to Adobe AIR.
These are the symptoms: when exporting to air format, Xcelsius doesn't generate the .air package. We can see that Xcelsius generates some temporary files (swf, xml, tmp) but then deletes the files and does nothing.
To validate if the problem was on Xcelsius or on the AIR SDK we tried to manually generate the .air package by using the AIR SDK and the adt command, and received this error message:
"Could not generate timestamp: Connection timed out: connect"
One of the steps AIR SDK follows when generating an .air package is to contact a time-stamp server. If the AIR SDK fails to contact the tsa, no package will be generated and an error message similar to this one will be sent.
To validate if this was the cause of the problem, we executed adt and added the -tsa none (to skip the time-stamp validation) and everything seems to work. Unfortunately we can't add this setting when exporting from Xcelsius 2008.
We are connecting to the internet using a proxy server.
If we try to export while connected to another network (no proxy) the export is executed with no problems.
Although we've changed our JRE settings to use the company's proxy we still can't Export to AIR while connected to this network.
Any ideas of how we could fix this?
It would be nice if Xcelsius could display an error message when experiencing problems with the AIR SDK instead of doing nothing at all.
I have not yet been able to verify the above information but maybe it will help you guys. If you need more information from me, let me know. I'm going to do some more testing tomorrow and will post any results I find. I really really need this option to work.

  • HTML/SWF publish from captivate 8

I had created an project and published it for HTML/SWF, it is working fine in all the browsers and only in Firefox it gives the below error:
    Adobe Captivate
This browser does not support some of the content in the file you are trying to view. Use one of the following browsers:
    Internet Explorer 9 or later
    Safari 5.1 or later
    Google Chrome 17 or later
can some one give me solution on this.

Check this post. The message usually is because Firefox doesn't support mp3, hence the message from CP.
You need to make .ogg files and redirect CP to use them if in Firefox, else use the .mp3

  • How to test and develop the HTML/Backbone custom content viewer on IPad?

    Hi
I have been tasked with developing and amending the HTML/Backbone custom content viewer as nicely detailed and explained by Derek Lu here:
    https://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/html-default-library.html#
I can see that by removing the reference to libs/AdobeLibraryAPI.js in Index.html i am able to "test" on the desktop.
    <!--
        The DPS library/store API.
The include below should be commented out when testing on the desktop.
    <script src="libs/AdobeLibraryAPI.js"></script>-->
and that data is bought in via the fulfilment XML feed and the parse method is called on Librarycollection.
I have made the changes to hook up the viewer to bring in some folios that we are developing.
However, although this provides the ability to test and develop on the desktop in one form since we are using JS and Backbone, there are various checks within the provided code to see if ADOBE.isAPIAvailable.
If it is, then the behaviour is different than on the desktop, so once the viewer is packaged up and put on the IPad there is disparity between what you were able to check and test on the desktop version against what is shown on the IPad.
The question therefore is... is there a quick way to develop and test on the Ipad ... it doesnt seem like a viable option to develop blindly on the desktop and then package up the content viewer within Adobe DPS to check how those changes behave on the IPad?
To re-iterate the viewer is to make use of backbone / js example to provide greater functionality and options for customisation.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Dave

Thankyou for taking the time to respond and for providing such detailed articles on adobe dps development, it is much appreciated.
I had completely missed that article and was struggling to find anything useful from googling!

  • Custom chrome in Air

    Hi
I used to make some utilities with custom chrome in Air by setting Chrome=none, TransparentWindow=true in Air configuration file and add showFlexChrome="false" to my .mxml page in order to have a transparent background and use a custom component as application background. This last parameter is not any longer available. How to do it now?
    Thanks

It's not currently planned, no. If you'd like to see this
feature, you should request it via www.adobe.com/go/wish.

  • Server won't display flash html/swf files

I have a set of html/swf files that are "set" exacly like a dozen other nearly identical files that are served correctly by a hosting site but this set only displays a Flash Player upgrade icon on Foxpro and a blank page on IE.  My client Flash Player is the latest and works fine for the other dozen nearly identical files.  Of course the initiating fla file displays correctly with CS5.5 Flash itself.
I've run out of ideas about what causes the problem and how to fix it.  Any ideas please?

Thanks for your response.  I've resolved the problem.  This one troublesome file was not "set exactly".  The Publish Settings "output file" field designated a non-existent folder that was a remnant of a deleted folder.  Flash did it's best to sensibly respond.

  • HTML / SWF

I have a html/swf - is there a way to have it automatically
resize or stay 800 x 650 Pixels no matter what a persons screen
    resolution is set to?
I do not like how it looks when it is blown up becuase of a

Is there a code or way to do this - I would imagine so - Can
    anyone help?

I would guess you are specifying percentage values for the

dimensions in the object embed tags? If so, try using pixel

  • Unable to load swf from different domain through html wrapper in Chrom

    Hi All,
I am trying a embed a swf from different domain. My html wrapper was in one domain and swf was in another domain. I have embedded the swf into the html wrapper. When i run the html file it is loading the swf in firefox and working fine. But when i try to run the same html in chrom or IE the swf is aborted. I have crossdomain.xml file in both the servers which is also allowing both the domains. I was not able to figure out the issue. Can anybody help on this.
    regards,
    Jayagopal.

Are you getting any errors or warnings?

  • Blank browser page when viewing html/swf exported from Indesign

We've created a 'flip book' in Indesign and exported it as a swf and html docs. These docs both view correctly locally, but when uploaded into the same directory on our server and viewed via safari or chrome, they both appear as blank browser pages.
    html page is here: http://www.thinktankcd.com/SmartsquareBrochure_030215_test.html
Any idea what we've done wrong?
    Indesign CC 2014  OSX10.9.2

Thanks Sumit, but ID didn't create any other resources to go along with the swf and html files. Besides, it doesn't need to; there are no other resources but it still works locally. The swf is a stand alone file, the html just gives access to that file when accessed via a browser.

  • Trying to open local files(gif, html, swf etc) with Firefox only opens a blank window.

    Currently on FF33.0.2
I used to open gif and swf files(also doesn't work on saved html files) on my local hard drive with Firefox just fine before by just manually double clicking the file and FF would automatically run it just fine.
Now it only opens up a new window in the startup page.
Any other browser(Chrome, IE) that I use to open them works.
Also, I can manually force FF to run the files by dragging or using the [Open] command in the menu bar but then it's much more convenient if it runs them automatically by clicking the files themself.

Try to redo the default browser setting and temporarily set another browser as the default browser.

  • Customized chrome works when running, but not when compiling ?

    Dear webmates :
I have customized my chrome in Flex : it does not show the window container  (transparent) , etc... and works great when I run it... however, when I compile it in order to have the standalone file... it simply works displaying again the window ! what do I have to do ? thanks in advance...

    Hello,
When you built your installer, did you include all of the dynamically called VIs?  The application builder does not know about dynamically called VIs unless you specifically tell it about them (which of course makes sense, as they are dynamic).  Other potential issues might be the change in behavior of the Current VI's Path constant, or a lack of other dynamically called objects such as dlls or drivers.  Make sure that the dynamically called VIs have been properly installed on your target computer in the desired paths.  If that doesn't solve the problem then make sure that your application has good error handling capabilities (i.e. handles all error wires and eventually passes them to an error handler) so that you can use the error to determine which files are missing or in the wrong location.

But at the moment I would just like to see my Flash page working in a browser.
I have inserted my Flash page in to Dreamweaver, and new code has been automatically added. But still the navigation button doesn't work.

Hi, My customized paypal buttons that i but on my iweb site using html snippets are not displaying correctly. They work in Opera but not in firefox or safari. Please take a look and tell me what you think might be wrong. (all the links are working it's just not showing the graphics correctly (apart from in Opera)
    http://www.alisonbrent.com/ShopTableLamps.html
Also I've just noticed that when i return to my iweb application (after closing in down) the Html snippets aren't there anymore just an outline, just like they appear in safari?
    Many thanks,
    Ali
    P.S

    Bonjour
You inserted an image inside the ShopTable_Lampsfiles folder but it's is deleted every time you publish your page
    1) Create an new folder named Paypal in your root folder:
FTP: With a FTP software (like Cyberduck) create a new folder in your server root folder
MobileMe: just make an new folder inside the Folder Sites (iDisk > Web > Sites)
    Name this Folder "paypal"
    2) insert your image "addtocartbutton.png" inside this paypal folder
Get the new URL of your image , something like
    http://www.alisonbrent.com/paypal/addtocartbutton.png
    3) Paste this URL in your codes, replace
    src="http://www.alisonbrent.com/ShopTable_Lampsfiles/addtocartbutton.png"
    by
    src="http://the/new/URL/of/addtocartbutton.png"
