Html tetxt in Pdf report.

I integrated an HTML editor in my form application in order to store text formatted.
Now I need to print such formatted text in my pdf report.
Is it possible ?
How?

If you have a item in the layout with a source where the datasource is character, there is a property "Contains HTML Tags". If you set this to "Yes", the content is parsed for HTML-Tags and should be formatted properly. But i don't know if this also works with pdf-output. You may have to give it a try.

  • Report Logo - Displays on HTML, not on PDF report

    Hello once again Gurus.
    We have a system environment setup where we have BI Publisher Enterprise and Apex 3.1.2 talking together to create PDF reports on a Oracle 10g database (R2 I think, I'm uncertain). As part of a business requirement, depending on what project you are looking at within our apex application, when printing a report you see a logo specific to the project. We have already developed this using a RTF template with a dummy image embedded, and +url:{concat(.//URL,.//PROJECT_ID)}+ in the Alternative Text field of the Web tab of the Format Picture dialogue.
    This worked fine when using the RTF templates as Report Layouts within Apex and as templates within a BI Publisher report.
    However, now logos aren't appearing.
    I am not sure if we have upgraded the version of BI Publisher, but we are running Apex 3.1.2.00.02 on Dev and Apex 3.1.1.00.09 on test and prod, however none of these environments are outputting logos in the PDF reports.
    Curiously, if I go into the BI Publisher interface and ask for the report to be outputted as HTML, the image shows. Running the HTML version of the report from Apex also shows the logo -- but the logo isn't showing in the PDF reports.
    As I continue trouble shooting, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Edit: We are on BIP 10.1.3.2

    If anyone could give us any insight on this, it would be appriciated.
    I'm unsure if its a permissions problem with the PDF seeing the image, or something related to server setup. We currently have a redirect in place to production that doesn't include the :7777 in the URL, and for some reason, if the G_URL for the image is changed to this portless URL, the image is embedded. However, this redirect was in place for another application, and will soon be locked down, so is not available for a long term solution to this problem

  • PDF Report Output

    Hi,
    In relation to thread: PLPDF experience / references
    has anyone tried using the XML/PDF Access API for Java (XPAAJ) (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/downloads/xpaaj.html) to generate PDF Reports from Apex?
    Having had a look at PL/PDF, I'm worried that the examples on the website are mainly tabular, which wouldn't give us enough flexibility of layout.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike
    I would be very keen to see any complex reports produced in PL/PDF. I have had a little look and am convinced that it might be up to the job but without investing a fair bit of time, I cannot provide a definitive yes or no.
    I understand the Apex 3.0 may well provide the answer and am loathed to implement a solution now when it may be very simple in a few months time.
    I will let you know how I get on and publish any examples that you may find useful.

  • Error only in PDF report generation not HTML

    The same report exports fine in HTML. This only happens when exporting a PDF report:
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException: 26---- Error code:-2147467259 Error code name:failed
    The application was developed by our developer team and it is hosted in a Windows Server 2008 R2.
    Does someone had the same problem ?
    Thank you.

    We solved but not so sure about the cause.
    It had something to do with character encoding in PDF reports.
    Thank you for all that read the question.

  • JasperReportIntegration tool - Report coming back as HTML instead of PDF

    Using:
    * Apex 4.1.1 (using EPG)
    * 11G SE
    * Apache FOP as print Server
    * Dietmar Aust's free tool on integrating JasperReports
    I've recently created a second APEX instance locally (from externally hosted instance) and copied the application (via application export) and parsing schema (using exp/imp). Everything works fine except when I try to print reports (for JasperReports) it comes up as garbled HTML instead of PDF.
    In my hosted instance it all works fine.
    Since the necessary packages to integrate with Jasper reports goes into the parsing schema for application, all necessary objects are imported as well during the exp/imp.
    The only thing different about the hosted and my local instance is that the hosted one is XE where as my local one is SE but I don't think this is a factor at all.
    The other difference is the hosted instance uses Apex Listener while mine doesn't. Again don't think this a factor as well.
    My print server is enabled and working and I can print tables as PDF reports.
    I am not sure if I need to enable something or missed a step needed so the reports come up as expected as is the case in hosted instance. Any hints or suggestions welcome.
    Cheers.

    Hi Dietmar, I couldn't do it as I couldn't find that line I needed to modify. The XLIB_HTTP package goes upto line 45 and those lines referred in that post goes upto 89,90.
    But then I was due to change from EPG to Web Server + Apex Listener (for other reasons) which in turn solved my issue anyway.
    create or replace PACKAGE "XLIB_HTTP"

    Hi,

    Plz let me know how to solve this problem.
    Thnks
    Leon John.

    Hi Leon
    I guess you are working with Reports 9i. You can create such PDFs without any problem.
    Please refer:

  • Open a PDF report from a PDF report

    I would like to open a PDF report from a PDF report, but in a new IE window.
    I have the following code attached to an item in the report:-
    function F_RECONFormatTrigger return boolean is
    begin
    IF trim(:btch_ref) = 'PL' and trim(:recon) is not null and trim(:recon) <> ' ' then
    srw.set_font_weight(srw.bold_weight);
    srw.set_font_style(srw.underline_style);
    srw.set_text_color('blue');
    srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('onMouseover "window.status="Click here to see what is in your shopping basket"; return true"'||'onMouseout ="window.status=" "; return true"');
    srw.set_hyperlink('/reports/rwservlet?cmdkey=famis+desformat=pdf+report=FAMREP011+p_orderno='||trim(:recon));
    srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('target=_blank');
    -- srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('target="_blank"');
    END IF;
    return (TRUE);
    end;
    All of the commands work except for the 2 srw.set_hyperlink_attrs commands. The "onMouseover" and the "target" seem to have no effect. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

    The built in srw.set_hyperlink_attrs does not work , if the report format is PDF. There is no way to open another PDF report from a PDF report in a seperate window. Also think there is no way to hide URL which apperars when the mouse pointer moves over the hyperlink.
    In other report formats like HTML, the built in srw.set_hyperlink_attrs works.

  • Dynamic Images in PDF Report

    Hi,
    I want to create Badges from employee table (ID, NAME, JOB_TITLE, PHOTO). I downloaded and installed a demo application "USING DYNAMIC IMAGES IN PDF REPORT". It works fine with smale images < 20K. I'm getting the following error for images > 20K :
    "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: raw variable length too long"
    it seems like a buffer problem.
    could you pls help to solve this problem
    Thanks,
    Ribhi

    Hi Carsten
    That was exactly* I was looking for. Maybe I should Google more in German ;-)
    The main problem was that I defined my image outside the first repeating group (that doesn't repeat, it's always just one object) - the first group is followed by 7 more.
    Just like the "Name" (that's positioned outside the group in the document header), I positioned the image above the table representing the group.
    Doing that, the "Name" is filled correctly, the Image only when the Output Format is Excel or HTML - not Word or PDF ... makes no sense but that's tje way it is.
    After moving the image inside the group....it works great!
    (One more thing...the image size is fixed to the image you use as "dummy". Is there any way to make that more flexible, because now some scaling happens...)???
    @Trent: That was the way we initially did it, but when the size of the row exceeds 32K...you know what happens.. And even with a small image the 32K limit is hit easily
    The way I use it now (very similar to Carsten's description) there is no limit....
    Thank you all!

  • Storing oracle-reports generated pdf-report onto a blob

    Hey ppl,
    I have this requirement:
    I basically generate a report from Jdev using a remote servlet call to oracle reports, which very neatly generates the pdf document for me and stores it locally. The problem is immediately storing this onto the DB as a blob once the report is generated. I know how to store the pdf as a blob onto the DB. I know how to make the call to oracle-reports and generate my pdf. What I don't know is to sequentially first generate the local pdf report and only once that has been generated proceed to store it onto my DB.
    I want it to be done within the scope of a single request. As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle. I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
    As soon as the report has been requested by the user, I want the pdf file(which is generated by the reports) to also be stored onto the DB.
    My problem (which i apologize has been repeated already 2wice above) is that I basically lose control once redirected through the servlet to the report call. There is no way i can instruct Jdev, from the reports side, that the pdf has been generated and now has to be stored onto the DB, as i have lost the session context by redirecting to a different servlet.
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Cheers
    K

    Hi,
    its quite some time ago that I a looked Oracle Reports, however, I think that the event mechanism is quite complex to achieve
    I want it to be done within the scope of a single request.
    Which means that if Oracle Reports hangs, the user session follows.
    As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle.
    Unfortunately you don't control how long reports run, which means that there is no sense in stopping the page lifecycle for this
    I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
    Fair enough, but as far as I remember there is an eventing in Reports that would allow you to have the Oracle Reports Server triggering the upload
    So I think, the architecture I would go for is:
    - user requests report
    - report generates PDF output
    - reports uploads to DB
    - reports_processing table holds user ID and reports ID plus flag to update when report is done
    - If using JSF, you could use af:poll to check frequently for the report to be finished.
    This here may help: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/reports.html

  • Creating a PDF report within a popup window

    bq. Hi, \\ Within my application i've a page which uses JasperReports to generate a simple PDF report within prerender(): \\ public void prerender() { \\ try { \\ this.planned_bar_tripsDataProvider1.refresh(); \\ if (this.planned_bar_tripsDataProvider1.cursorFirst()) { \\ getApplicationBean1().*jasperReport* \\ ("PlannedBarTripsReport", "application/pdf", \\ getSessionBean1().getPlanned_bar_tripsRowSet1(), null); \\ } \\ } catch (Exception ex) { \\ log("Exception generating report", ex);} \\ } \\ jasperReport() is taken from the Sun PDF tutorial (http://developers.sun.com/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/reports.html) \\ Now, when this page is opened within the application (browser) window the PDF report successfully renders. \\ However, when the page is opened within a popup window, using the (onclick) Javascript function: \\ function generateReport() { \\ window.open('PlannedBarTripsReport.jsp') ; \\ window.event.returnValue = false; \\ } \\ the PDF report fails to render. The result is a brief pause followed by a blank popup. No exception. No Abobe embedded window. No clues as to what's gone wrong. \\ Any advice would be greatly appreciated. \\ Ta.

  • OBE - Creating a PDF Report

    At the above link is a samle demo of how to create a PDF report using Oracle 11g, BI Publisher, BI Publisher Desktop.
    I am stuck at the step # 8:
    Import the Printing Application in Application Builder using the printapp.sql file located in the directory where you unzipped the file in the previous step.
    I have the above referenced file and when I execute it I get the following error:

    The BI publisher is working fine as I can see all the executive reports as well as all the demos work fine.

    At step 5: 5. Installing and Configuring Apache FOP
    I am expected to install the fop.war file using OEM. I have OEM for 11g working but I don't see the application component, just the Database. How do I get the App component working. The BI Publisher was installed using "basic" option as suggested by the OBE I am using.
    Thanks a lot for your help.

  • How to automatically attached multiple PDF reports to an e-mail and send

    Hello.
    I have a requirement to generate multiple PDF reports using Oracle Reports 6i on the web, then automatically attach these PDF reports to an Outlook e-mail and then bring up the Outlook e-mail dialog box so the user can modify the e-mail (such as adding more attachments, adding a CC, BC, change the message text) before sending the e-mail. I want to be able to initiate all these tasks from Oracle webforms 6i in a three-tier environment.
    I have already read various notes and solutions but none of them address all my requirements. Examples:
    1. Using OLE to interface with Outlook - but OLE does now work on the Web
    2. Using Java stored procedure or UTL_SMTP - but this does not bring-up an e-mail dialog box
    3. Using mailto: in HTML and web.show_document - but this does not allow you to attach a PDF file
    Can you please advise on possible solutions to my requirements. Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Armando

    Here is a great resource for sending binaries.
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html
    You'll want to use utl_http to run each report with a destype=file and then have another procedure running to check to see when all of your reports have finished. After they are finished, you would run the stored procedure to get all of the binaries, attach them in an email and then send it.
    If you want to concate all of the PDF files into one large file, you can do this with a Java stored procedure using iText.
