HTTP Response Code 401
Hi,
I need to connect to a HTTP Page where Authorization is required.
The following is my fraction of codes:
String namePwd = getUserKey () + ":" + getPassword ();
String encodedAuth = new sun.misc.BASE64Encoder().encode( namePwd.getBytes() );
huc.setRequestProperty ( "Authorization", "Basic " + namePwd );
Eventhough I have the above codes, I still received 401,
Please help, what do i do wrongly?
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
"fraction of codes"? I think you mean "sample" or "snippet" or something.
Anyway, here are some other possibilities:
1) the encoder isn't working
2) the name and password aren't correct (maybe they're just wrong, or not being loaded correctly)
3) the server isn't configured properly (maybe it isn't configured with the names/passwords you think it is)

Error Transmitting the message to endpoint -Received HTTP response code 401
Hello Experts,
I am having a SOAP to Proxy scenario. We are using HTTPS without client Authentication.
Everything is running fine and well set on DEV system. After transporting to Test system, i am getting error as :
Error Transmitting the message to endpoint http://host:port/sap/xi/engine?type=entry using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Received HTTP response code 401 : Unauthorized.
I get HTTP 200 Ok response in my soap client but the message is not reaching to Integration Engine. It is failing with above error. On CC monitoring for SOAP adapter it shows call completed successfully. But when I use the mesage ID from CC monitoring in Message monitoring i get the error as shown above in Audit log.
I have checked for Roles attached to my user on DEV and Test systems , I have same roles on both systems.
Any inputs to solve this problem will be very helpful to me. Let me know which service users i need to check for this issue?
Thanks in Advance,
XI Queries.Hi Pinang,
Thanks for input.
1) Check Role -SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER is there in XIAPPLUSER or not.
->Done. Its Ok.
2) check tyour port entry is like J2EE port 5<System no> or not.
->Done. Its Ok.
3) If the error in Adapter Engine
then have a look into SAP note- 821026, Delete the Adapter Engine cache in transaction SXI_CACHE Goto --> Cache.
->This note refers in case it happens with high load. I am just sending a small request and no one else is using / testing this interface. So no high load.
4) Check password for user XIISUSER
-> Basis team said they checked for all Xi users and they are not locked.
5) Check password for user XIAFUSER
-> Basis team said they checked for all Xi users and they are not locked.
Any other hints will be helpful.

HTTP response code 401 when trying to import webservice
Hi,
I've created a Webservice how descripted in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/de/24/186440bdd39a0ae10000000a155106/content.htm. Now I try to import it in NWDS. I followed the step by step guide "81 Using a Web Service as External Service (Service)".
My WDSL file of my webservice is available over http://server:8000/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/Z_MPO_XRFC_CAFTESTBO_GETBYNAME?wsdl
When I try to use this url in step 4 (page 13) I get the following message:
Cannot Load WebService WSDL from URI: http://server:8000/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/Z_MPO_XRFC_CAFTESTBO_GETBYNAME?wsdl reason: IO Exception occurred while parsing file:Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL:
http://server:8000/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/Z_MPO_XRFC_CAFTESTBO_GETBYNAME?wsdl
The HTTP errorcode means "no authorisation". But why does the NWDS don't ask for user and password?
Any ideas?
Best regards from cologne
MartinHello Martin,
step 4 of page 13 is only for loading the WSDL and generating the external service model. The user and password that you give here is not used for exectuting the web service. The runtime configuration for your web service is done on page 23 of the tutorial. Here is where you set the user and password for the execution of the web service. You can choose either basic authentication or SSO with login ticket which will not send any text login information.

Austin. -

thanks,

Many thanks in advance
HolgerHi Ravi,
it's the Java stack's port.
Hi Venkata,
1. Check whether service user maintained in the SM59 destination is with Roles of std. user PIAPPLUSER, PIISUSER
The Problem is, that the message is not processed in the PI. I don't see them at SXMB_MONI.
Today I see them on the RWB at the message-monitoring, but only because they are set after the 3rd try to send them to NDLV.
I can see the messages, after they are triggered, in the comm-channel-monitoring by selecting the appropriate channel.
2. Check XIAPPLUSER is having this Role -SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER
Checked the PIAPPLUSER is having this Role -SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER
3.May be wrong password for user PIISUSER.
There was a pwd-change in january, but the passwords are all correctly replaced.
Thank you for your help!

HTTP response code: 401 for URL suddenly
I was using 1.4.2_01 and went back to 1.4.1_05 in order to get JACOB to work. (Java Com Bridge) -- to control Microsoft excel, word etc.
Switching back to 1.4.1 is giving me errors with my URL connections now. I was originally using an authenticator class but now it doesn't work. I even tried to set the connection manually and still no success. Any insight into this one? I reset my classpath and path variables. Hmmmm.... Was there something I had to set to use java.net stuff?
Connection code:
Authenticator.setDefault(new TestAuthenticator());
URL testUrl = new URL(urlString);
URLConnection yc = testUrl.openConnection();
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(yc.getInputStream()));blah blah blah... Returns error code 401 because I'm not 'authentic' But I have authenticator code:
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;
class TestAuthenticator extends Authenticator {
private static String username = "userName";
private static String password = "passWord";
public TestAuthenticator() {}
public PasswordAuthentication getPasswordAuthentication(){
return new PasswordAuthentication(username,(password.toCharArray()));
}I just went back and recompiled in 1.4.2 and it works! Why not in 1.4.1?
Thanks!
TomHi,
Has anyone come up with an answer for this?
I would also like to ask what would happen if I need to go through a proxy that also requires authentication in the first instance before connecting to the server which needs to autenticate me? Can you use the same autenticator subclass? What if the username/password are different on the proxy and webserver?
Thanks. -
Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL
i am trying to execute the following piece of code from a remote client:
URL url = new URL("www.abc.com/servlet/someservlet");
URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
but i am getting a server returned 401 error, i did some research and i think my client needs a some kind of authentication to call that servlet. Can somebody send me a code snippet on how to do this?
thxAssuming that your user ID is in a variable called "userName", password is in "password", and your URL connection is "urlC", try something like this:
// Construct the user name/password string and base64 encode it
String userPassword = this.userName + ":" + this.password;
String encoding =
new sun.misc.BASE64Encoder().encode(userPassword.getBytes());
// Set the authorization request property - use basic authentication
urlC.setRequestProperty ("Authorization", "Basic " + encoding);
// connect to the URL
InputStream content = (InputStream)urlC.getInputStream();HTH

Reset the HTTP response code in OSB for proxy service
Hi,
I created a HTTP proxy service in ALSB with any XML message option. There are some business scnearios for which i need to send a custom error message in the HTTP body. I am replacing the $body variable with the error message and sending reply with success.As i am using reply with success it sends a HTTP response status code as 200 Ok.
However based on different error conditions i want to send appropraite http response code. How can this be achieved?I would like to share the solution so that it would be useful to all the users of the forum.
There is a http:http-response-code element in the $inbound variable which is optional element. You need to insert this element to the $inbound using the insert action. Here is the extract of the code:
Insert [<http:http-response-code>401</http:http-response-code>] [ as last child of ] [./con:transport/con:response] in [inbound]
Please note namespace con belongs to "http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/context".

Adobe Print Form Error - Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized
Hi, I've just configured ADS on Netweaver 2004s. I've run through the config guide and everything works ok including the form generation test report FP_TEST_00 which outputs PDF without issue. I have two problems:
-When I run a "test connection" on the RFC destination 'ADS' using the ADSUSER for the login details, I get a 403 not authorized error. Changing this user to J2EE_ADMIN resolves the issue and I get a 302 redirect. I've tried adding other permissions to the ADSUSER without any luck.
-Running a report on the Portal under e.g. Executive Reporting and attempting to just right-click and hit "Print Version" results in a 401 error for request "http://hostXX:portXX/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document" exactly as per this thread: Re: Adobe Form Creation Error - Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. However, I've double-checked all user details in Visual Administrator (ADS_AGENT) and on the ABAP stack side in su01 and sm59. I also tried changing the users to dialog with no effect. If I go directly to that URL and log in with ADSUSER I get a 403 not authorised error (using J2EE_ADMIN is again successful). I've noticed that in the http access log the HTTP protocol used is 1.1 when using the web browser and 1.0 when using the sm59 connection test. I've heard of problems with using HTTP/1.1, but when I change the options on IE8 to use HTTP/1.0, it changes for all other requests except the request for "http://hostXX:portXX/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document", which is still submitted as HTTP/1.1. Conversely, in sm59 if I specify that it should use HTTP/1.1 under Special Options, I can see from the access log that it is in fact still using HTTP/1.0. Could this be related to the 401 error code that I'm seeing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
JohnI think I've ruled out the HTTP protocol version as being an issue here. However I may have found more useful information on the actual issue.
In the security log under usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\system I see a different message for the unsuccessful report PDF generation attempt to that of a direct query to the same URL with the same web browser, as below. The unsuccessful attempt appears to forget the ADSUSER credentials and resort to the default J2EE_GUEST which has no authorisations and therefore fails. The direct query doesn't lose the ADSUSER credentials and I think this is because it prompts for the user/password when needed. Does anyone know why this happens for a direct query to this URL but not for the PDF generation attempt?
Resulting logs from unsuccessful PDF generation attempt:

When trying to run an Adobe Form webdynpro app, I am receiving the following error:
<b>Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. The requested URL was:"http://localhost:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document"</b>
I have checked the ADS test at <server:port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config; the test did return the version number.
<i><b>Does anyone have any other ideas of what I should check?</b></i>
Also, why is it running a url with "localhost" in it? If this is running on the java was server, then I guess that could make sense. But if the url request is requesting something from localhost, isn't that my computer? I guess it depends on if this is a server request or a client request. I hope this is a server request.Sumit -
First, I think config is okay. I can run the web service under my id okay.
Second, I am not sure what the impact is having the build done locally.
I am building and deploying locally in NWDS to my local portal. But then I am sending the EAR file to the system admin to deploy to my dev server (I am doing this because they will not give out the SDM password. And, I am waiting on the NWDI setup to be complete; when that is complete I will let NWDI deploy to the dev portal.)
Incidentally, I am receiving this error on the dev server, not my local portal. (I have tried running on my local portal, but I am getting a socket timeout error. But this is interesting, because I <i>can</i> run other webdynpro non-Adobe apps. I am not tracking down this error at this point because I am really just interested in the dev server. If I get past the 401 error on the dev server, and then get the socket timout issue...then I will worry about it.) -

While testing the demoszenario "Service-Enabled Procurement Scenario" from the SAP discovery system the following error arises:
Error: RemoteException: Service call exception; nested exception is:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. The requested URL was:http://iwdfvm2160:51080/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:WebService:SO_WS_SOAP_SENDER
The error appears in the first step when a salesorder should be created via a soap-adapter from an adobe offline form.
The portal user = proc_sales
Is there anybody who can answer the following questions?
1. Is there any configuration necessary to make the scenario running?
If yes, where is the documentation?
2. which user is authorized to call the webservice for creating the sales order and where has this user to be configured?
Thanks for a soon answer.
Regards MarliesI found the solution on my own. Here it is
Goto VisualAdmin:
Select Cluster/Services/Destinations
Select Webservice
Select sap.com/XApps_XI_SO_WS_Proxy/com.sap.esadiscovery.so.wsproxy.XApps_XI_SO_WS_ProxyName/ESA_MI_SO_CREATE_WS_INPort
Change the Hostname in the following Custom URL to the right hostname: http://iwdfvm1127.wdf.sap.corp:51080/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:WebService:GM_WS_SOAP_SENDER
In our case the correct hostname is iwdfvm2160.
Further set the authentication to basic and fill username with PIAPPLUSER and Password with the approriate password -
Exception while calling ADS Inappropriate WSIL Invalid Response Code: (401)
Hi Experts,
Our ADS configuration was done on XCE a long time back and even reader credentials were installed and everything is working fine.
Couple of days back, we enabled SSL configuration on the system. Even got the certificates signed by CA and HTTPS is also working without any problems.
Then, problems are happening when we configured WebService SSL connection for ADS following the steps from
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce72/helpdata/en/90/71d273fa724cc9bb644ab00405e6f8/content.htm and also the SAP How to guide from: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d02262d8-7814-2c10-5c97-d855d38e9923?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true.
Among other steps, I have created a View in Key Storage called "ADSCerts" and created an entry "ADSUser" as per the document, generated CSR request, imported CSR response and also the CA's root certificate.
I exported the ADSUser-cert certificate from here and imported into Identity Management for the User ADSUser under its Certificates tab.
Also updated SecureConfigPort_Document (in Destination Template Management under SOA Administration) security settings to X.509 Client Certificate and in Details, I have chosen the View ADSCerts and entry ADSUser.
Even after all the steps as per the document and the help.sap.com link provided above, when I try to test this through a test URL
(https://host:https-port/webdynpro/resources/company.com/test~wd/TestAdobeApp) that our developers have given me for this, I get a (401)
Unauthorized error:
500 Internal Server Error is returned for HTTP request
[https://host:https-port/webdynpro/resources/company.com/test~wd/TestAdobeApp]
com.sap.tc.adobe.pdfobject.base.core.PDFObjectRuntimeException:

com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (401) Unauthorized. The requested
URL was:"Connect to https://host:https-port/inspection.wsil/"
I have checked the security log file and it shows:
LOGIN.FAILED
User: N/A
IP Address: 192.165.90.102
Authentication Stack: sap.com/tcesiesp~wsil*inspection.wsil
Also, ran Security Troubleshooting Wizard from NWA and reproduced the problem while collecting these traces. There were some entries like:
Login failed!
[EXCEPTION]
java.security.PrivilegedActionException:
com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Cannot
authenticate the user.
Caused by: com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.DetailedLoginException:
Received no SAP Authentication Assertion Ticket.
Received no SAPLogonTicket. Authentication stack:
[sap.com/tcesiesp~wsil*inspection.wsil].
Any idea how I can solve this? Anybody got this error?
Thanks,
ShitijOpened an OSS message with SAP and they told me that the certificates being generated from NWA are in a different format from what is accepted in user store.
So, generated new certificates from OS level using sapgenpse and now it worked.
