Http vs "http tunneling" using visual c++ as client

Is there any performance benefit of using "http tunneling" vs http?
Our client application is a visual c++ app.

HTTP tunneling, in the WebLogic sense, means tunneling our RMI wire
protocol (i.e., T3) over HTTP. You won't be able to do that from a
Visual C++ client without a lot of nasty JNI code (since you would have
to use our java classes on the client to be able to accomplish that).
You might want to consider using IIOP, WebServices, or jCOM to integrate
the client...
Hope this helps,

  • What is the correct way to set a web application to use HTTP or HTTPS?

In the past I've always created an HTTP web application as the default zone. Then extended the web app, creating a new IIS website on port 443 and enabled SSL. This seems to have worked fine, but I recently read an article stating that it is not good to
extend a web app unless absolutely necessary. So can someone tell me what the proper way is to configure a single web application to work with HTTP and HTTPS?

Extending the web application to support both HTTP and HTTPS is a perfectly good method and in fact is the only way to have a web application support both so what you've done is fine.
If the web application will only use HTTPS, you can set this up when you first create the web application. Specify port 443 and the SSL option (and ensure the URL has an https://) when creating the web application. You'll need to install the certificate
in IIS once the web application has been created.

  • Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind

I installed J2ee version of Oracle9iAS R2 for windows. When I start my application server, I always get the error "Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind". In the previous version, if I met this message, I can change the port number in "http-web-site.xml", but now, no matter what port number I changed, I always get this error message.
Could anybody please help me with this issue?
Can Oracle provides a tool that can automatically free the port?
    Thanks, Jessie

If you are getting this error while starting the Oracle9iAS by using the NT services or using command line (dcmctl) then there is a port conflict for the HTTP Server. You can go the EM Website and select HTTP Server ->Server properties and select the port# for the HTTP Server.
OC4J is configured to listen for AJP requests only and the ports are dynamically assigned. The port ranges can be specified : OC4J Instance -> Server Properties

Thats nonsense, create_by_url does not need an rfc connection. TA SICF is correct.

    Hello,
Basically what's happening is that the secure services aren't

    2. Can I change something in the Flex Compiler to allow for

This works perfect in FireFox and Safari and retrieves data

  • Both http and https on struts in tomcat using SSL

I want to apply both http and https as need, on a single web application on struts. My server is tomcat. I need a complete documentation. Some help me please.

If you are terminating SSL on ACE then there is no way to do it with one policy because of ssl-proxy command. However it is possible to use same serverfarms with two VIP like this:
access-list ACL line 10 extended permit ip any any
    rserver host TEST
      ip address 20.20.2.11
      inservice
    serverfarm host TEST
      rserver TEST
        inservice
    ssl-proxy service SSL_SERVER
      key KEY12.PEM
      cert CERT12.PEM
    class-map match-any SSL
      2 match virtual-address 10.10.2.101 tcp eq https
    class-map match-any HTTP
      2 match virtual-address 10.10.2.101 tcp eq http
    policy-map type loadbalance first-match L7_POL
       class class-default
         serverfarm TEST
    policy-map multi-match L7
       class SSL
         loadbalance vip inservice
         loadbalance policy L7_POL
         loadbalance vip icmp-reply
         ssl-proxy server SSL_SERVER
        class HTTP
        loadbalance vip inservice
        loadbalance policy L7_POL
        loadbalance vip icmp-reply
    interface vlan 210
       ip address 10.10.2.1 255.255.255.0
       service-policy input L7
       access-group input ACL
       no shutdown
    interface vlan 220
       ip address 20.20.2.1 255.255.255.0
       no shutdown
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.90.15.1
However, if you are not doing SSL termination on ACE and you are just doing L4 load-balancing, you will most likely need to configure SSL stickiness, which again leads to having separate policies because of the sticky serverfarms which need separate loadbalance policy lines.

  • When we Use HTTPS and HTTP

    Hi Frnds,
when we Use HTTP's and HTTP.
    Can anyone explain...
    Regards,
    Raj

    Hi
A general defination of HTTP and HTTPS would be :
    HTTP
HTTP is the protocol that a web browser such as Internet Explorer uses to request a web page from a web server.
It can be "implemented on top of any other protocol on the Internet, or on other networks. HTTP only presumes a reliable transport; any protocol that provides such guarantees can be used."
    HTTPS
HTTPS is an encrypted form of HTTP used for sending sensitive data like credit card numbers between the browser and the web server. This is also sometimes called Secure HTTP or SSL (which stands for Secure Sockets Layer).
All XI runtime components using the HTTP protocol support the encryption of the HTTP data stream by means of the SSL protocol, also known as HTTPS. HTTPS data streams are completely transparent to the Exchange Infrastructure.
To enable an HTTPS connection, two steps are required:
           1.      Both parties of an HTTP connection (that is, the HTTPS client and the HTTPS server) must be technically enabled.
           2.      The internal XI communications and the messaging communications must be configured in XI to use these HTTP connections.
In addition, for certain adapters you can enforce HTTP security for incoming messages.
    Technically Enabling SSL
Whenever a hardware or software component is to be enabled for SSL, the client and the server part of an HTTP connection have to be enabled differently. Moreover, the technical configuration for HTTPS is different for XI ABAP and J2EE components. For more information, see Transport Layer Security.
HTTPS comes in two flavors, both ensuring the confidentiality of data sent over the network
    ●      Server authentication
Only the HTTP server identifies itself with a certificate that is to be verified by the client.
    ●      Client authentication
Additionally, the HTTP client identifies itself with a certificate that is to be verified by the server.
    Hope this clears your doubts

  • ArchiveLink with SAP HTTP Content Server configuration using SAPdb  MaxDB

We have configured SAP 4.7 to use ArchiveLink to store outgoing PO’s.   The PO’s are in PDF format and are to be stored on an SAP HTTP content server using MaxDB.    We believe everything is setup but when we go to retrieve a stored file, using and HTTP link we do not see the document.   Here is  a sample HTTP link:
    http://company-sap20.company200-sap.com:1090//ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?get&pVersion=0046&contRep=ZT&docId=47E9C60A28145211E10000000A0126F3
Can anybody give me a few pointers?
What table in the MaxDB shall I look at?  Where is the docID being passed to?

I'm sorry to say that I don't know.
AFAIK, the report gets documents from the document store. The Contentserver itself runs embedded in the Web-Server.
Besides the trial to write a trace file with the Contentserver (see Contentserver.ini somewhere on your Web-Server) I strongly recommend to open a customer message.
