HTTPService - using FlashVars for URL?

Hi,
New Flex user, so please forgive me if this sounds stupid.
I'm fiddling around with a modified version of the dashboard sample
application, and am using the FlashVars param tag to pass in a
bunch of variables into the application. They all work fine, except
the variable I'm using for the URL in HTTPService, which is the
name of an XML file that another application I've written has
generated. It returns this error:

But I'm absolutely positive the URL value is correct. I've
tested and displayed the value that comes through, and when I
manually paste that value into the URL, it works fine. Tried
relative and absolute URLs, tried just passing the partial filename
through (so the FlashVars variable just has alphanumeric
characters) and hard-coding the rest of the URL. Same result.
Does HTTPservice just not allow this value to be passed via
FlashVars, or is there something I'm completely missing (maybe I
need to convert the value somehow)? Or, is there another solution
to this problem?

How are you asigning the url value to the HTTPService
property? Binding or via actionscript?

and I'm having to matches returned at all. Its actually pulling a full text file and running the pattern on a CharBuffer, but I dont think thats the issue. I have 2 other patterns being run the same way in the same file and theres no problem with them. I know the pattern is not optimized at all, Ive gone through about 15 different iterations of trying different combinations to try and get a match, and this is the last one I tried. the numbers in the url such as this one being 3533 change so that cant be static. And the text such as "Heres my text" changes and thats what I want to capture. If anyone could lend any assistance I would appreciate it.

How to set up use of relative URLs for a BSP application

Dear all,
I need to access a BSP application through our external portal.
This is failing because generated URLs are absolute URLs (they mention physical server name, not known of course on the internet) where they should be relative URLs (they use external portal URL as prefix).
How to set this up?
I'm logged on http://myportal.com/irj/portal and want to call a BSP application. To build this page, my internet client (Internet Explorer) tries to get elements from the server. Looking at HTTP trace, I can see that my IE is trying to reach the physical server, not known on internet of course, then page loading fails.
Ex absolute URL : http://myservername.domain.com/sap/bw/[...]/image1.gif
This is the behavior I can see at the moment.
Relative URL : http://myportal.com/sap/bw/[...]/image1.gif
This is what I'd like to see.

I have been putting in a URL and yahoo snags it parses it to several words then gives me a search page... I use Google for search andf I want to go to the specific URL I entered... How do I block Yahoo from doing this crap?

I use google for my search engine. I do not have any reference to Yahoo in my plugins or extensions on Firefox. Every time I enter a specific URL in the Firefox box, Yahoo comes up, has the full URL I entered to go directly to. It has the URL in the Yahoo search entry field and it parses the name to several words that make up the entire URL. Asks me if I only want the name I entered and lists every site that contains the words it parses... Yahoo is really screw up if it hijacks the browser. How do I prevent them from doing this...

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.

Migrating to Sharepoint 2013 from 2010 - Can you use the same URL for the Web Application without affecting the 2010 environment?

I am currently trying to migrate our SharePoint 2010 environment to SharePoint 2013. The first thing I'm doing is creating a 2013 development environment to verify that this migration goes smoothly. I'm also doing this so that we will have a testing environment
after the upgrade to 2013 is complete.
So here is my question: I have a 3 tier farm including; 1 app server, 1 wfe, and 1 sql server. I have made a copy of our SharePoint 2010 database and installed that on our sql server 2012 sever (This new environment is on 3 completely separate servers from
our 2010 environment). I have also installed the prereqs and configured SharePoint 2013 on the App server and wfe servers, as well as configuring the necessary service applications (I have created a completely new 2013 database where I will migrate my 2010
database content when I'm ready).
I am now at the point where I need to create a new web application on the 2013 app server, where I will be migrating the copied 2010 database. (Also note that we have a 2010 development site called https://[email protected])
When I go to create a new web application in our 2013 dev environment, can I use the same url (https://[email protected]) to create this web app, or will this screw up our current 2010 dev environment?
I'm new to SharePoint migrations, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.

So, what you are recommending is that before I create a web application in my new 2013 environment, I need go into my hosts file on my 2013 app server and alter it to point to my 2013 wfe.
Then after I do that, then I can create my new web application on my 2013 app server with the same url as my 2010 testing environment
(https://[email protected]).
Then after that I should be able to access my new sharepoint 2013 environment at the same URL (https://[email protected])?
I must be missing something.

so I am confused on after I do this, what url would I access my 2010 test environment, and what url would

I am fine with having my test environment as a different URL until I am totally ready to roll everything over and kill the 2010 site. But I want to make sure that when I migrate my database, none of the site links are broken.
I also want to make sure that if I proceed this way, I want to be sure that I will be able to modify the URL to what my 2010 environment is (without a lot of headaches) when I am ready to kill the 2010 site.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

Flex IO error# 2032 when using IE7 for parallel https calls across two servers

Hi,
Weeks back I faced a wierd issue in the behaviour of flashplayer running on IE7 which is invoking parallel https calls. I have two SSL enabled servers one is listening on port 443 and the other is listening on port 8443 but both running in the same domain. I developed a flex client (using httpservice class) which sends parallel https requests to these two servers. When the number of parallel requests increases say more than 5 requests to each server, the fault handler was encountered with the error message:

I used some http tracer tools to check if the request jumps out of the browser but that didnt happen. I am 100% sure that I am using the correct url. I was totally helpless . This worked without any issues in IE8 or Chrome or Firefox. This made me think about increasing the number of concurrent connections for IE7 by modifying the windows registry. But still no difference in the behaviour.
After breaking my head for a long days, I got one solution which would work. This issue is happening only if we are sending https requests to different ports in the same domain. So rather than moving one among the two servers to a new domain, I got a new DNS name for the same destination. So presently I got two DNS names pointing to the same machine in which both the servers are mounted.
After this it really worked cool!!! Now that I am using a separate DNS name for the server listening on port 8443 and the old DNS name is used to hit the server listening on 443. And I am happy that its working fine without any issues .
But can anyone tell me if this is really an IE7 issue or do we have anyother solution to fix this.

I am building a mobile employee directory and for that I am using Flash Builder 4.6/AIR 3.1.0. I am using RESTful web service to get XML results and to display on my mobile application. I am getting the same below error when accessing the webservice from mobile app (Android - Galaxy Tab 7 inch).

Using Applescript for uploading pictures on the Internet

Hello!
I was wondering if there was a way to use Applescript with Firefox (or another browser)...?
We have many many villas on our website, each one with lots of pictures. We are constantly adding new villas to our site and amending old ones.
To add pictures we go to a page in our cms for each villa, located there is a drop down menu - image 1, image 2, 3 etc etc etc
For each one we have to manually browse for and attach the photo. As you can guess this is a time consuming process, we have asked the web designer before for this but he is so busy and we have other more important stuff for him to be working on.
As Applescript is so nifty I was wondering if anybody had an idea on how to use it for this process - i.e. have a folder full of pictures on the desktop and Applescript can add them?
I have no idea if this is possible, any ideas?

Yeah I completely understand, I just wanted to see if anybody knew if it could be done.
Obviously for security reasons I can't let anybody into our CMS, so looks like it's a bit of an impossible task.
Although it would be awesome to simply change the script slightly for each villa and let it do it all, this would be stupidly complicated as there are many menus to navigate to get to the uploading picture area.
It would be great if I could do all that manually then once on that page (or given the page url to Applescript) set Applescript running to upload all the images for me.

Villa Plan
Small Location Map

etc
I could arrange a folder with the pictures in order (i.e. Villa Plan first, then Small location Map, then the picture for 1 etc) so no worries about the Villa Plan and location map.
I've got a feeling I'm just going to have to do it manually (I shall forever be uploading pictures), but I thought I would give it to some of you geniuses to mull over!
For whoever creates a script I'll give you a discounted stay in Paradise... there's an incentive!!

Passing a login and password while using JNDI for RT jobs

Why can we not pass a user name and password when using JNDI for Real Time jobs? Can it be passed in the URL line or somewhere else that I'm missing? This is frustrating as we actually have to connect using Anonymous with no password which opens up so many security holes that we simply can't go to production with this. Please advise.

you can set the login using the JNDI properties file and create the file in the classpath, but again the password will be in plain text

How do I remove an unwanted toolbar? I added a radio station to my ibook and it set up its own toolbar so when I go to Safari I have to use it. It involves using Bing for everything as well. It's very annoying and I want to remove it.

Have you looked at Safari's menu bar > view> toolbars to see if it can be unchecked from there,also see if there is a button to collapse the toolbar on the bar itself.

How to remove bullets and spacing for url links in the Related Links iview?

I tried to look for a property that I can edit the look-n-feel of the url links in the Related Link iView using "Theme Editor".
All I need is to remove the bullets and increase some vertical spacing between the links.
Currently, it looks like this:

I go through the whole section of Related Links properties, none of them seems to do what I want.
Here are the list of properties in Related Link section (of Navigation Panel):
Link Color
Text Decoration of Link
Hover Color
Text Decoration of Hovered Link
Initially, I thought "Text Decoration of Link" should be the right property I should look at. But there are a drop-down with 5 options: None, Underline, Blinking, Overline and Line-Through, which really can't achieve what I want.

I checked the Related iView properties (URL Template), I don't see what layoutset it is really using. I am not sure, is that a layout set apply to the Related Link Iview?
For the regular KM iView, I will see what Layout Set I want to apply, then I can go and change the properties (of layout coontroller, collection renderer & resource renderer)you mentioned. But for this Related Link iView, I really don't know. I guess it may be in the code itself.
If there is a layout set for Related Link iView (or the place to apply layout set to it), can you point to me which one is that? (I did a search through the layout set names, I only find the AppQuicklinkExplorer (I used this for Dynamic Nav. Link iView before), if I can aply this layout set to Related Link iView, my problem will be solved.)

How do you create a login page using dashcode for the iPhone's mobile safari that will transfer you to the next page?

     Hey I have created a login page in Dashcode for a mobile safari app (aka iphone web app) and I am having trouble since I can not find any useful info about multiple pages. I don't want to use a stack layout view because it is only a login page and I need to check with a database to make sure the user's login info is correct. Right now I have it set up so that it loads another iphone web app project once it validates the info.
     The only problem with this is I am having a good bit of trouble trying to pass values from my php code to javascript or html. For some reason calling the javascript inside the php code makes the actual code inside the app not be called and same with the echo statment for the html.
So I would like to be able to create the app in this way:
Login page > PHP > MS SQL > PHP > UNKNOWN (if I can't get the javascript or html to output both) > Secure info on the next page
     I believe It would be a lot easier if I had the option for a multiple page but instead I am having to load up an entirely new dashcode project. If anyone knows a better way please let me know. Or if anyone knows a link to good information on passing values from php to javascript, because I couldn't get any of the code I tried to work, I would really appreciate it.

OK. This is weird--but I should be used to that, and just grateful that it seems to work (for now).
What I had done is FTPd some image files to my site using Filezilla, but when I had tried to access them, I was unsuccessful. I am almost sure that I used the same url (and variations of it) as you suggested, namely,  http://mysite.verizon.net/username/filename , and it either did not work, or gave me the "Page under construction", or, in some cases asked me for my username and password.
But, when I did it this time, it worked. So I probably had something off, but I can now do what I want.
By the way, if you'll permit another question, while on the site-builder site, it said that there was a "Web Photo Manager", and said that "To download the Web Photo Manager: Open the Site Builder application and go to the All My Sites page. Click on the Web Photo Manager link (listed under Advanced Building Tools )." I can't find it--would you happen to know where it is?
In any case, thanks a lot for all your help--it solved my problem.
