Huge IE7-Flash/Shockwave Player Problem

i just installed IE7 (7.0.5730.11) and wanted to try it out
on some demanding pages, like those with flash animations,
shockwave games and integrated media players. everything worked
fine until i went to www.miniclip.com and started the robot rage
game (
http://www.miniclip.com/games/robot-rage/en/).
signing in was successful and also the choose robot page had no
problems, but after i chose a robot and got to the workshop every
single click caused an "iexplore.exe - Application Error" - The
instruction at [eg.] "0x77ec3593" referenced memory at
"0x00000010". The memory could not be "read". OK>terminate,
CANCEL>debug!
i tried it several times, set all possible IE security and
advanced settings to lowest possible, everywhere "enable" where
possible, ran ccleaner (cleaned temp, cookies etc.), restarted my
notebook and the problem still occurs. sometimes it just hapens
when i get to the first page where the shockwave application starts
(there the "send error report" window comes up and the MS crash
analysis tells me that Macromedia has published a new version of
the flash player (i definitely have the most recent one), but
mostly i manage to sign in, choose a robot and then when i'm on the
workshop page every single click anywhere leads to the application
error.
since the latest flash player/shockwave player issues are
from july 21, i supose the problem is indeed caused by the flash
player, not IE7, since it's not been updated after the end-user
version of IE7 had been released.
if anyhow possible, this issue should be reported to Adobe (i
am not a commercial Adobe customer, so i cannot do that) so they
can fix that and release a new version of flash/shockwave
player

i apologize, i didn't see that i posted it in the wrong
forum; should be in the flash/shockwave player forum

    Could you try steps:
    (1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.
    (2) Disable Flash using hardware acceleration. See this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable the protected mode feature. This involves creating or editing a settings file. You can disable that by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different ways to do that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

  • Shockwave player problem

I uploaded shockwave player to my webspace. When I go to my
url the shockwave player does not run automatically, instead the
index of/ page appears. only when I double click on NAME does it
    run.
can anyone let me know how to fix this?

Unfortunately this is another welcom surprise from our
friends at microsoft. They disabled object, embed and applet by
default which disables all activex controls which relies on those
HTML commands. This really sucks big time, but it is not some
setting you can alter or disable. Not by code and not in any
    browsersetting.
We are in the business of building flashgames, and we think
this is pretty anoying. Not only for us, but for our customers who
buy our games and the visitors who plays them as well.
Think of webdesign agencies who love to build interactive
flash menus etc. This could be very hazardous for users and
    developers of flash.

  • How should I fix this one Flash mp3 player problem?

First of all, I'm just learning Flash, so bear with me. To deliver music content on a little website, I'm using the original Fabricio Zuard XSPF_player from Sourceforge.net. The version of the player that plays more than one song is supposed to also display the relevant album cover on the left. This works fine with FireFox 3.6, IE 8, and Opera 11 (all on Windows XP Pro sp3).
But on Google Chrome, the song links go all the way to the left including the space where the cover image should be. Can someone more experienced help me diagnose this? One person has suggested a Javascript problem, but the only Javascript I'm using is SWFObject, which appears to have a good reputation, and doesn't have anything to do with the player's internal appearance.
    http://www.keithpurtell.com/kthings/bruce.htm

As you suggested, I used Flash (CS5) to publish an html. Tested in Firefox the cover is shown, but tested in Google I still get only the links to the songs. Can you suggest my next step?

I have tried uninstalling and re installing flash player 8

If everything here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html  doesn't help, you'll need to turn to Microsoft. Since Windows 8 and IE 10, they embed and maintain Flash Player. It's THEIR baby, now.

  • Shockwave Player vs. Shockwave Flash (Flash Player)

For historic/legacy reasons there are two free Adobe browser add-ons with somewhat similar names

    usage problems: http://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer/using_flashplayer

Hi stevewriter122 and welcome to our community
Hmmm, your mention of eHelp indicates a bit of time has
elapsed. As a result, I'm going to crawl way out here on this shaky
little limb and say that maybe that was the case at one point in
time, but it probably changed. Or, maybe it was just voodoo all
along. I'm simply not sure. Maybe Catbandit has some good stuff
about all that, as he is another one that also combined RoboDemo
    with RoboHelp.
However, I'm another person that now combines RoboHelp with
Captivate. (I never could warm up to RoboDemo, but Captivate rocked
my world) Anyway, I'm happy to report that I've been combining
Captivate movies with both .CHM and WebHelp output for a long time
with no issues. And with my laptop being pretty new, I'm doubtful
Shockwave player is even on the system. But I'll counter that with
the open admittance that I'm not sure how I would even go about
testing to see if it was present.
Hopefully others will happily chime in here and offer other
    insights on this.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Adobe Flash/Shockwave Problems

for some reason Adobe Flash is Crashing Every day for the last 2 weeks with Firefox i'v reinstalled it and it didn't help one bit and not sure whats going on. my system is a Win 8 (64bit) Firefox version is 25.0

Download the following files (Right click and "Save Link as"):
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    Shockwave Player Uninstaller
    Flash Player Uninstaller
    Shockwave Player 12 FULL Installer
    Reboot.
Run the Uninstallers from your Downloads folder, to remove BOTH Flash Player and Shockwave.
Go to: C/Windows/System32 and delete the Macromed folder.
Go to: C/Windows/SysWOW64 and delete the Macromed folder.
Open your Windows Registry Editor (Start>Run or press the Windows key+r. Tpye "regedit" [minus the quotes] and click OK.
In the Registry Editor, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and delete the Macromedia folder.
Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder.
Close the Registry Editor and empty your Recycle bin.
Run the Shockwave FULL Installer first, and THEN the Flash Player Installer. These are offline installers and will require no connection during the process.
If problems persist, try disbaling other plugins and extensions for Firefox, to determine if one or more is conflicting with Flash and Shockwave.

  • Firefox Plugins lists Shockwave Flash 12.0.0.70 but Adobe lists this as Adobe Flash Player, and Version 12.0.9.149 as Adobe Shockwave Player, so wtf is going on

Flash causes us all immense confusion, and Firefox is adding to the problem.
My Firefox Add-ons page lists (under Plugins -- isn't there a difference?) that I have:
Shockwave Flash 12.0.0.70 which is set to "Always Activate".
    Adobe websites list:
    Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70
    Adobe Shockwave Player 12.0.9.149
-- so what on earth is the Firefox-listed "Shockwave Flash"?
This simply adds to the utter confusion already surrounding Flash Player -- which I cannot find anywhere amongst my Programs -- but which I can find under "Uninstall or change a Program" where it is listed as "Adobe Flash Player 12 Plugin".
There is also the thorny issue of FlashPlayer vs. FlashPlayerDownloader......
I need a flash of inspiration to get me out of shock -- I'm not waving, I'm drowning!

In the internals of the plugin it is still referenced as Shockwave Flash. That hasn't changed as it would break websites that check for a specific plugin name. You can see that on the about:plugins page and in the properties of the Flash plugins file.
You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) and paste this JavaScript code in the command line to see how the Adobe Flash Player plugin identifies itself:
    <pre><nowiki>console.log(navigator.plugins["Shockwave Flash"].name);
    console.log(navigator.plugins["Shockwave Flash"].description);
    </nowiki></pre>
    *https://developer.mozilla.org/Tools/Web_Console
On disk you will also see Macromedia for folder names used by the plugin.
    *32 bit Windows: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
    *64 bit Windows: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\
    * C:\Users\&lt;user&gt;\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\

  • When did these flash player problems begin?

So, I had a computer running Win98 and IE6, which worked
great until Flash Player 8 autodownloaded about 4 months ago,
causing the beginning of an extreme headache. Several
communications with Adobe support (they eventually stopped
responding) over several weeks went nowhere None of the fixes
suggested by them, nor the ones here worked. Countless manhours led
me to think it was time to bite the bullet, buy a new computer. So,
as of two months ago I have a new computer running XP and IE6 with
SP2. I didn't know it until today, when I started having crashes,
but I have Flash Player 7.0.19.0. When i go to Adobe's Test page,
both Shockwave and Player windows show the animations (and no
    crash).
On certain pages, which I believe have flash content, I get
the "IE has experienced a problem and must close" message. It
specifically mentions the flash.ocx file as the offender. It is
    repeatable when visiting certain pages.
So, before I jump into the abyss of attempting to fix this, I
am wondering when these types of problems began. I have been using
Windows and IE since 1998 with no trouble until this year. I hoped
moving to a new computer would solve my Flash compatibility
problems. Could the root problem be new types of spyware, etc that
change something in the registry? Some of the fixes suggested by
Adobe were regarding keys changed in the registry. Unfortunately
those fixes didn't work (in Win98).
Finally, does anyone know if attempting to fix flash player
under XP is any easier than 98? Also, I will admit I may have
visited some sites recently that downloaded some adware, etc. Any
suggestions on cleaning that may solve the flash player problem? I
know this post is all over the map - I don't know where to begin...
    Thanks in advance, Don

  • Shockwave Player 10.3.181.26/Firefox 5 problem?

I recently downloaded Firefox 5 (Gateway laptop with windows 7, if that makes a difference) and when I tried to watch a youtube video, it said I had to download the latest flash player, which gave me Shockwave Player 10.3.181.26 in my plugins. Now since I've done that, I've experienced this problem where sometimes the whole computer will freeze for a couple seconds and then just cut to a black screen, while the cpu is still on and I can still see the light shinging from below the screen on too.
Im wondering if this is the pflash player itself, or the problem with firefox 5. It happens every so often now and I have to turn off my computer manually each time because it won't go away. What's the problem? Please help

I use the latest Flash Player with Firefox 5 (on Windows 7), and I do not see any such problem.
    Try to
    update your display adapter drivers
disable Hardware Acceleration (Flash Player Settings)

  • Flash player and shockwave player "not installed"

I recently downloaded the most current shockwave player and
flash player, but when I go to a website that requires the program
it tells me that I need to install the shockwave player/flash
player. I download each again and have even shut down and rebooted
to see if that helps but it doesn't, it keeps telling me that the
shockwave player/flash player is not installed and that I need to
install it again. Can anyone help me find out if there are any
settings that might need to be changed on my computer to let them
run? Customer support was no help what so ever and just told me to
    reinstall.
    Operating System: Windows XP
    Browser: Microsoft IE version 7
    Thank you very much

I am having the exact same problem. All are Windows XP SP2
machines. Funny thing is, it seems only to be occurring on a
certain 'block' of newer computers. anything more than about 8-10
months old, and the app runs fine. Brand new machines <1 month
old are fine. I have a number of machines in that 1-8 month-old
range that are exhibiting the problem. I found this
    here
but it does not seem to work. Anyone else with this issue?
