Hyper Link Exported to Excel - Unable to open in New window

Hello Every1,
My Greetings for the day!!!
I have created a SSRS Report in SQL Server 2012.
There are many columns in the report. But the last column is a hyperlink.
I have applied the following in code in Action properties -
="javascript:void(window.open('" & Fields!DataURL.Value & "','_blank'))"
The above code is working fine, when I deploy the report in Sharepoint and click on the link. The link gets open in new window.
However, When I export the same report to EXCEL and then click the link. It is not getting redirected.
Please provide some solution.
Regards,
Hiren Parikh

Hi,
I have got the solution.
Please see the below code :-
=IIf(Globals!RenderFormat.IsInteractive,"javascript:void(window.open('" & Fields!URL.Value & "','_blank'))",Fields!URL.Value)
It really worked. Now, When I export to excel and click on the link. It opens in a new window.

  • I am unable to open a new window / open link in a new window

    In the previous Firefox versions we are able to open a new window & open link in a new window. The feature is there when you "right click" on the tab or click on the "open a new window" but it simply not functioning

    Link context method works for me, there have been many complaints that the first two items were switched, and that can be easily modified with the "'''Menu Editor'''" extension.
    If it does not work for you an extension might be involved.
    There is also the mouse shortcut '''Shift+click''' on the link. Called mouse shortcut because it involves the mouse.

  • In Firefox 5 links with target="_blank" don't open in new window or tab. Is there a way to make them do that?

    I've search some info about this and it seems like there's a lot of people that are annoyed by links opening in new window/tab and that the 'target="_blank"' is not valid in strict XHTML. I'm guessing this could be reasons why Firefox 5 ignores the 'target="_blank"'. But in some cases you really want to open a new widow, in my case I'm using a flash application and want to open links in new windows from there and then the ctrl-click doesn't work. When opening the link in the same page and then go back the application is reloaded and it's state is lost. Probably should try to find out if there's some other way to open links from a flash application, but I'm wondering if there's a way to make Firefox 5 open 'target="_blank"' links in new tabs.

    I don't know how to delete my question, anyway I'm not having this problem anymore. In our organisation the IT department deploy Firefox updates with certain settings and limitations, in the tap-options the checkbox for opening new windows in new tabs where checked but disabled. They made some changes to make this checkbox enabled and now it works as expected if it's check new windows open i new tabs and if it's not in new windows. They never opens in the same tab as they did before.

  • Unable to open a new window you must first close exsisting firefox process or restart your system. There is no firefox process running why should I receive this error msg?

    I closed a Firefox process. Then clicked the FF icon to restart my browser. I received an error message. " Firefox is already running, but not responding. To open a new window you must first close existing Firefox process, or restart your system. However there is no Firefox process running to begin with. I checked the task manager.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

    It takes Firefox 5-15 seconds to completely close and for the OS to release the processes; it may take longer if you have a Flash animation/video running in one of the tabs. If not waiting long enough is not the problem, you can try the following to determine if an Extension or Plugin might be causing Firefox to hang at exit.
    <u>'''Kill Application'''</u>
    In Task Manager, does firefox.exe show in the <u>'''Processes'''</u> tab?
    See: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application Kill Application]
    '''<u>Causes and solutions for Firefox hanging at exit:</u>'''
    [[Firefox hangs]]
    [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Hang_at_exit Firefox hangs at exit]
    [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]
    <u>'''Safe Mode'''</u>
    You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes <u>'''before'''</u> starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
    See:
    '''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''
    '''[[Troubleshooting plugins]]'''
    '''[[Basic Troubleshooting]]'''
    If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling <u>'''one at a time'''</u> until the problem reappears. <u>'''You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change'''</u> via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

  • Links in Mail (Mac) no longer open a new window in Firefox.

    When I click on a link in a Mail (Version 4.4 (1082)) message, it simply defaults to the existing open tab in Firefox, rather than opening a new tab and the page indicated by the link. This just started today and I don't know of anything I changed, other than upgrading to Snow Leopard (Version 10.6.6) a few weeks ago. I searched preferences in Mail and Firefox but did not see options.

    Hi Barbara,
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    Also, Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.

  • When i click a link on any web page mozilla opens a new window instead of opening the link on the opened window?

    when clicking on any link on any webpage a new window opens.
    Eg. On the bbc home page if you click "news" a new window opens instead of going to the news page of the web.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />

    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />

  • Portal 10.1.4 seeded Page link Item type - Getting it to open in new window

    I've been working on creating a new portal and am having some difficulty with Page Links. I am using version 10.1.4 out of the box. When I create a page link to another page and click on it, the page always takes over the current window.
    Under normal items, you can select the option to display item in new browser window. I do not see this option when using a Page Link.
    My questions are :
    Is this option to display somewhere else vs. Page Properties?
    Has anyone created a custom item type to achieve this function?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Something you could try is changing the way the item is displayed using a HTML Content Layout, this is a great feature of portal 10.1.4 and allows you to customise the region where the items are displayed.
    Try this:
    1) Create a new HTML Template
    2) Select HTML Content Layout from the list
    3) insert this code:
    <oracle>
    if '#ITEM.TYPE#' in ('baseportletinstance', 'portlet_instance') then
    htp.p('#ITEM.PORTLETCONTENT#');
    else
    htp.p('#ITEM.TITLE#');
    end if;
    </oracle>
    4) go to your page and edit your region properties
    5) On the attributes tab chose the Html template you created.
    the items should be displayed now as links that open in a new browser window.
    Hope this helps..
    Regards,
    Juan

  • Created a button to link to URL, need it to open a new window

    I created a PDF with several buttons. When the reader clicks the button it opens a URL. I need that URL to open in a separate window but I can't figure out how to do it.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You might get more help in the Acrobat Forum.

  • When I open a new tab and type in a URL, a new window opens, rather than the link appearing in the tab. Also, when opening links embedded in pages, these always open in new windows rather than tabs. I want to use tabs!

    I was cleaning my keyboard, I wonder if some button got pushed that altered the settings. But when I look at firefox's settings, nothing is obvious.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • ITunes Store "open in new window"

    Whatever I do I cannot make iTunes Store open in a new window. I want to see if I already have a version of the music I am about to order, but the selection "open in new window" is not selectable - iTunes Store opens on top of iTunes start page.. Solution anyone?

    Hi:
    I had the same problem and, while I'm sure there is an easier way, this is the only thing I was able to come up with after messing around for a while and convincing myself I was using the wrong search strings on Google.
    In iTunes:
    • go to iTunes/Preferences/Store,
    • uncheck the last selection that says "Use full window for iTunes Store,"
    • click OK,
    • click the "iTunes Store" link,
    • right click the same link after the store appears,
    • select "Open in New Window,"
    • return to the original window and your Music Library should be displayed,
    • now you can switch back and forth and save money, and
    • hope someone can post an easier way to do this.

  • First link always opens a new window

    I'm using Tomcat 3.2.3 and I have been unable to determine why the first link always opens a new window. From that point on, each hyperlink displays the page in the same window, as they should.
    For example, my index.jsp page has a hyper link to the logon.jsp page. The logon.jsp page always comes up in a new window - even though the achor <a> tag is not setting any 'target'. It also doesn't matter if the first page is index.htm
    I don't know if this is relevant, but Tomcat is running inside of Apache using the mod_jserv module. (at least I think it is.. I'm not sure how to tell... I followed the instructions at the Tomcat site and everything seems to load fine)
    Thanks for any help....
    E-

    try by explicitly setting the target of the form to the same window.
    I think it should work.

  • IWeb • How Do I Make Links in an Embedded PDF Document Open in New Page?

    On this page http://ostyn-newman.com/Gov_Downloads.html I have a PDF document that is embedded.  I tried an IFrame, but everything seemed to work better for me with the "Embed" code.  I am open to changing this if it would be better.  Here's my problem.  I can get the PDF document to display fine, but when I click on the links in the PDF document, the destination page opens in the embedded window.  I want the links to open the destination in a new window.
    I created the part of the document with most of the links (Pages 8.5 - 56) in Numbers and cut and pasted the table into a Pages document to create the completed document on our site.  I exported the docuemnt from Pages as a PDF file which is what you see.  There is also a link to download the file on the same page which works just fine.
    I have tried to insert the target="_blank" code but have not been able to get it to open the destination pages in a new window.  I am inserting the code by using the Insert/Widget/HTML Snippet Feature in IWeb.  Here is the code I am using.
    <embed src=
    "http://ostyn-newman.com/Media/GS27F0026XTextfile.pdf"
    style="width:850px; height:1000px;
    border-width:0px;
    border-color:#FFCC66;
    border-style:solid;"
    scrolling="auto" >
    </embed>
    I am not a coder and have just used Google to find the code to cut and paste and have played around with it to get to the place I am.  If anybody can tweak the code I have or offer some totally new code for me to insert that will get this to work would be greatly appreciated.
    Please keep in mind that most of the people who visit and use this page are government employees and are almost exclusivey using Explorer.

    Thank you Jeff,
    I tried your original suggestion and now my inserted html widget reads
    <embed src=
    "http://ostyn-newman.com/Media/GS27F0026XTextfile.pdf"
    style="width:850px; height:1000px;
    border-width:0px;
    border-color:#FFCC66;
    border-style:solid;"
    scrolling="auto" target="_blank">
    </embed>
    It is live on my site.  You can see that the embedded document still opens the destination links in the embedded window.
    As for your other two suggestions, thank you as well.  I am aware of those techniques and did not use them because that is not how I want the other PDF links on the page to behave.  The catalog and autocad blocks downloads in the box at the top should simply download (or behave however the client's browser is configured to handle downloaded PDF documents or zip files.)  I don't intend to force those to open a new window.  I could also have our client click on a link to the PDF document and open it in a new page (like in your second suggestion) but I was hoping to embed the PDF and have it automatically viewable on our Download • Terms • Prices Page with all of the PDF search functions intact as well as the links be active.  My only complaint at this point is that the links in the embedded PDF document open the destination page in the embed window instead of a new window.  I only want to force a new window because the destination window doesn't behave properly when it opens in my embed window and it is difficult to figure out how to go back to the my PDF document when a destination window gets opened in the embed window.  The code you sent didn't do the trick.  Or maybe I didn't get it exactly right.  That is why I included it above.  Thanks for trying though.  I appreciate the effort.
    I would be willing to bypass the imbed/iFrame route altogether if I could just somehow drop the Pages document into the IWeb page and retain the search and link features, but I've not been able to figure out how to do that.  When I was exploring how to directly drop a Pages document into an IWeb page is when I stumbled on the method of embedding a PDF document into an IWeb page to retain the important search and link features.
