Hyperion Planning form timeout via Open Form under SV Data Source Manager

Power User can't open one particular big Planning form in Excel. Takes about 30 secs and gets net retry intverval timeout error. The same user can ad-hoc (one menu option up in the SV Data Source Manager) the form in question and can open the other (smaller) forms sucessfully. Logged into the users machine I can open the form in question. Logged into my machine the user can open the form in question.
Already increased the timeouts in user's browser to 2 mins and reinstalled his smartview client.
Seems like if I can do it on his machine - not his machine
AND if he can do it on my machine - not his rights/provisioning
AND if he can get at the same data one menu option up still using smartview - again not his rights or an error in his smartview

We had some timeout issues in Smart View in the initial stages of our deployment (although running 11.1.2.1), which sound similar to those you are experiencing.
Adding the following reg settings to client machines sorted the issues for us, it cant hurt trying these with your user if not applied already.
Path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings
Three ‘DWORD Values’ to add:
•     KeepAliveTimeout
•     ServerInfoTimeout
•     ReceiveTimeout
Value for each as 900000, with a Base setting of ‘Decimal’.

Can Oracle Form Builder 10g open forms created with Developer 11g?

Hi,
Two different groups of developers developed forms in both Forms versions 10g and 11g. There will be call_forms between both versions and both will run under the same portal. Production is 10g. Is it possible to open 11g forms in 10g Form Builder? Suggestion/ solutions are appreciated.

It is likely you will run into issues, so I would say best not to. I have done it a couple of times by accident during migration of Forms 10g to 11g. You can still open and view the 11g forms code in the Forms 10g builder, but will likely see some objects appear as incorrect types. Saving the 11g form in such a state from the 10g Forms Builder may result in corruption.

Hyperion Planning application is not opening

my question is related to Hyperion Planning application.
I'm trying to open the planning application thruogh workspace/planning but it's not opening.

Planning data sources management

Hi Everyone
I'm using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.3.0.26. I've faced problem when tried to configure data source for EPM Planning Application. Data source creation wizard is always finish with failed status. Using the same parameters I'm able to create data source for classic application with no problems. I stuck and don't know what to do next.
I'd be greatful for any kind of help.

"Open sql" report no data sourced defined in windows

when I want to import data from sql database, the Open sql window report error
"There are no data sourced defined. Please create one to continue",
but I have defined the odbc data source using windows 's odbc administrator, why the error?

A couple of possibilities.
First are you licensed for Sql interface? If not, you might get that message.
Second, where did you create the ODBC connection on your computer or the server. It has to be on the server.
Third, did you create the odbc as a system driver? it needs to be so
Fourth, what operating system? If it's unix or AIX there is a hole bunch more you need to do to get odbc connections working. If it's windows, it's pretty easy.
Fifth, did you test the connection before trying it in Essbase?

Can SQL*Plus connect via ODBC to NON-Oracle data source?????

I am struggling to understand something. I downloaded Oracle instance client, SQL*Plus and ODBC components with the hopes of being able to connect via SQL*Plus to a non-Oracle/ODBC compliant database.
Is this possible? Or is SQL*Plus ability to connect via ODBC only to an Oracle data source??

sqlplus only connects to oracle. you can use the odbc driver from instant client to allow other applications to access oracle via odbc (e.g. excel). if you need to connect to non-oracle odbc database (ms-access, foxpro, etc.) you need odbc driver for those sources.
you can use sqldeveloper to connect to oracle and non-oracle databases. check otn product info for sqldeveloper for more details.

Hyperion Planning - Link a web analysis report in a data form

Hi all,
is actually possible to link a web analysis report in a planning data form? I tried from a custom menu but discovered that isn't possible. Any other way?

Indeed, it is possible to link a web analysis report in a planning custom menu.
Follow this procedure :
- From the explorer :
-> Go to the folder where your web analysis report is stored
-> Right click on the document and left click on "properties"
-> Copy the "smartCut" link
- From your planning application :
-> Edit the menu where you want to link your webanalysis report :
-> Create a URL item and past the link in the input field

Incremental number assigned to adobe form field upon opening form

I have a form posted on the web that clients fill out and submit when they hire a new employee.
Is there a way to have a number populate in a field incrementally that does not repeat. For instance if the form is opened by user 1, it gets Form 1, then later user 2 gets Form 2. The number would not repeat.

Form fields can't directly-communicate with a webserver except during the submit process, so you can't use the same counter tools that websites use. There are some options to allow PDF forms to pull data from remote servers (using Flash) when the document opens, but again it will require some code on the server to send the correct information, and creates problems if the person filling in the form is offline at the time (or denies the network connection dialog). Using a timestamp field solves the problem of your users being offline, but it's only going to give you a pseudo-unique code (there's a tiny chance two forms could get the same value if they were opened at the same time) and of course the value you get is huge - not the sort of thing you'd want as an employee number.
Setting up something in PHP or ASP to run the type of XFDF/FDF workflow I show in the video isn't difficult, and the code will run on any web host which supports those languages. You don't need a special type of server.

EXEC_SQL - OPEN-FORM & the Primary Developer Connection

EXEC_SQL uses connection handles that are defaulted to what is considered the "Primary Developer Connection". In a multi form application environment in which each form is started up via OPEN-FORM, a newly opened form creates its own database connection so that each form operates under their own session and own logical transaction for COMMIT or ROLLBACK purposes. If EXEC_SQL were used in these forms, would that dynamic SQL operate within the same database connection established by the host form or would the "Primary Developer Connection" (EXEC_SQL default) override the OPEN-FORM database connection?
We have some forms utilizing DBMS_SQL (migrating to EXEC_SQL) that rely upon operating within the host form's database connection so that the queries see uncommitted data that has been created under that form's connection.

Brian - Sometimes whitespace at the end of the block causes this. Be sure to trim everything after the last semicolon including tabs and newlines.

Payments Inquiry form is not opening for a user

Dear All,
In AP, when a user trying to open the Payments Inquiry form, entire Oracle applications is freezing and have to kill the browser. But when tried in Test environment the form is opening normally for the same user. Did anyone encountered this problem?

Opening forms builder 11g in linux

i installed 11g in a linux computer. I can easily use frmplsqlconv.sh to convert my old forms and frmcmp.sh to compile but if i try to open forms builder i get an error: "FRM-91129: fatal error: no value specified for required environment variable FORMS_BUILDER_CLASSPATH".
What do i have to do?

I'm Working with redhat Linux 5.0. and oracle 11g database and oracle 11g forms.We could open form builder easily but today it shows error saying "forms builder is only supported on x86..."
Can anyone help me please.

COMMIT FROM OPEN FORM

I'm using Developer suite 9i and i've created a form on which I have several buttons that when pressed it "Open_forms, activate) a particular form that selects and inserts data into the form based on a global variable. This Opened form goes against a separate table but the inserted data is mostly inserted into the form from the original form that is still open. The problem is, when I use "commit_form" on the "Open form", it says saved, but then when I exit the form, it says it couldn't insert into the table. It appears to be trying to insert data from the original form into it's tables also. This I don't want or need to happen. Any clue???

can u more clearly explain ur problem. whati understand is that u are opening a form from another form. on the opened form u r saving some data. But, after that u r not able to put ur problem properly. So, plz mention more clearly.
One thing u keep in mind that when u commit through the opened form by using OPEN_FORM Built in then commit will take place in both forms i.e. the form which is being called and the form which is calling other form. To avoide this functionality u should use NEW_SESSION parameter in OPEN_FORM or use CALL_FORM instead.

Commit during Call form,open form?

If i open another form using call/open form command and exit out of the form which is over the base form with some code, what will happen to the data in the base form.
How can i commit from the call /open form the base form.
is there any property that needs to set up.

Close a form and before open a new form

Hi,
I open a new form(form B) from a form (from A), can I close "form A" before opening "form B" ?
Moreover, can I re-open a form itself ?

Use one of following
CALL_FORM
This builds a stack of forms; exiting the current form
returns you to the previous form.
Performing a call_form('b') from FORM A will do the following:
Deactivate FORM A.
FORM A becomes MODAL.
Focus is now on FORM B.
Must Exit FORM B to return focus to FORM A.
OPEN_FORM
This allows you to have two forms open and active at the same time,
and to work on both forms at the same time.
Performing an open_form('b') from FORM A will do the following:
Both FORM A and FORM B remain open and you can use the mouse
to switch back and forth between the forms.
NEW_FORM
. This replaces the current form with a new form.
Performing a new_form('b') from FORM A will do the following:
Closes FORM A and Opens FORM B.
