Hyperlink in flash

I have a flash navigation bar in my website and the
hyperlinks have stopped working for it. The navigation bar itself
is working fine, just the hyperlinks are broke. As you can see in
the code below each link is named "Study Help", "Tips and Tricks",
etc. Each of the web pages in my site are named after those links:
"studyhelp.htm", "tipsandtricks.htm".
This is the error message I get:
Cannot find
'file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Desktop/Online%20Journalism2/studyhelp'.
Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
Any ideas why they may not be working?

That sure is a lot of code to scrub through without having
actual symbols to test it. It would be easier to troubleshoot if I
had the flash file particularly because variables are set, they
equaled to something else, then equaled to even something else, so
seeing the actual flash file would help me trace what's going
on.

    Hi I would like to know, how do I add a Hyperlink on Flash, that opens a PDF in adobe reader and not the web browser.

    Yoh, what is FSCCommanr ? sorry man I am an absolute beginner in Flash. I tried the code:
    /* Click to Go to Web Page
    Clicking on the specified symbol instance loads the URL in a new browser window.
    Instructions:
    1. Replace http://www.adobe.com with the desired URL address.
       Keep the quotation marks ("").
    instance_name_here.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage);
    function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage(event:MouseEvent):void {
      navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com"), "_blank");
    this is the same code I used before and it opens a pdf file in a web browser, and it doesn't open an AutoCAD file.

  • Putting Hyperlinks into Flash Button Symbols

    Hi there,
    I just wanted to know how to put Hyperlinks into Flash Button
    symbols
    For example;
    I have a button which is named Home, and i have the UP, OVER,
    DOWN and HIT stages and wanted to put a
    Hyperlink to lets say Google so www.google.com.au and wanted
    it to open in the same page not a new tab.
    And if possible would like to know how to put multiple
    Buttons as one Flash File and have them all Hyperlinked to
    DIFFERENT Pages.
    I know very little Actionscript, but know what it is and
    other basics on it.
    I am using Adobe CS3 Flash 9 and would prefer a simple
    answer, Thank You

    Hi,
    There is a video tutorial for this on my website below.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hyperlinks with Flash

    I am making a CD ROM with Flash 8 and I need to have
    hyperlinks that will go directly to a site if the user is

  • "Last slide viewed" hyperlink in Flash export

    Just trying out using Keynote as a change from Microsoft PPT, particularly for the Flash export feature (as well as the lovely design features of course).
    I am going to get around the lack of a Play Audio "Action Setting" by having the audio segment on a separate, self-contained slide at the end of a document. On this self-contained slide I have put a "back" button hyperlinked to "Last slide viewed". However upon export to Flash, this function doesn't work, and hangs the entire presentation.
    Can anyone confirm if this is a known bug?

    I wouldn't call it a bug, more like something Apple just didn't implement. I mean, I have to wonder how hard it would have been to write a flash file that itself (not Keynote) tracks where the viewer is and remembers their last "slide"
    Personally, I think the flash export on Keynote should NOT be one of its selling points. If you need a serious flash movie, it's best to just use flash.

  • PDF with Hyperlinks to Flash/Flex

    My company is looking for a solution to put our print catalog
    online, with links from each part number. Here is a sample of
    this...
    http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/nimco/redribbonweek07/
    Our catalog has approx. 30,000 part numbers in its 280 pages.
    I have a PDF that contains hyperlinks to each part number on our
    site. I would like to be able to merge the incredible flexbook
    found at
    http://www.quietlyscheming.com/
    with our own catalog and keep the hyperlinks.
    NXTbook was able to take our hyperlinked PDF and create a
    flash-based catalog complete with hyperlinks intact, but my company
    wants to host it on our own servers for shopping cart reasons. So,
    I know this can be done.
    Are there any Flex/Flash gurus out there who can point me in
    the right direction?
    Thanks in advance.
    Randy

    hi
    flash.net is the package you need on flex, inside it you
    several methods that can help you, 2 of them are:
    URLVariables and navigateToURL
    look at them and if you can't do it, just hire me, i'll be
    glad to do it :D

  • Hyperlinks in flash working conditionally

    Hello,
    I'm currently having a problem with hyperlinks in menu done in flash.
    Menu button hyperlinks work when www is added to browser address bar and do not work, when www is not added.
    http://www.dione.ee
    and
    http://dione.ee
    I'm using following actionscript:
    on (release) {
        getURL("http://www.dione.ee/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=11&Itemid=12", "_self");
    I'm out of ideas, why it is so, therefore your feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Roland

    With all respect, then this all hasn't brought me closer to solving the problem at all.
    Maybe I expressed myself badly.
    Try to access
    http://dione.ee
    and
    http://www.dione.ee
    When on page, clicking menu buttons works with 2nd case, with first, they don't..nothing happens
    What I originally wanted to know is that maybe someone has experienced same weird behaviour or can share some thoughts about what might be wrong.
    Cheers,
    Roland

  • Adding hyperlinks to Flash Executable files

    I'm using a demo version of Flash 5 to see if I'd like to
    invest in a copy of Flash. I added hyperlinked text to to a flash
    movie I produced, and when I uploaded the html added to a webpage,
    when I click on the hyperlink it successfully takes me to the
    correct website. However, when I try clicking on the executable
    file version of the same flash movie, published at the same time,
    although I get the usual little hand when the put the cursor over
    the hyperlink I'm not taken to any webpage.
    Can anyone tell me what's going wrong?

  • How do I add Hyperlinks to Flash Images?

    I've just begun to dabble in Flash and created a neat little project first up as an experiment, but now want to learn how to take it to the next level.
    I watched this tutorial...
    http://youtu.be/5yjvBDgB0NA
    and am now wondering how I can hyperlink the main images?
    Here's the code I have:
    stop();
    button1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic1);
    button2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic2);
    button3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic3);
    button4.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic4);
    button5.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic5);
    function showpic1(Event:MouseEvent):void{
        gotoAndStop("pic1")
    function showpic2(Event:MouseEvent):void{
        gotoAndStop("pic2")
    function showpic3(Event:MouseEvent):void{
        gotoAndStop("pic3")
    function showpic4(Event:MouseEvent):void{
        gotoAndStop("pic4")
    function showpic5(Event:MouseEvent):void{
        gotoAndStop("pic5")
    I tried adding this:
    On (Release)
    Get URL ("http://www.google.com", window="_blank")
    End On
    ...but it makes the images rotate through in a crazy way and breaks the mouse over function.
    Can anyone teach me how to create hyperlinks for each "pic"?
    Thank you

    OK.
    Prematurely said everything was wonderful...have had a little stumble though.
    The first pic ("pic1") is linking through nicely.
    BUT...
    "pic2" to "pic5" is giving off an error #1009
    Here's the code:
    stop();
    button1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic1);
    button2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic2);
    button3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic3);
    button4.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic4);
    button5.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,showpic5);
    facebook.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoFacebook);
    linkedin.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoLinkedIn);
    youtube.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoYouTube);
    twitter.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoTwitter);
    flickr.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoFlickr);
    function showpic1(Event:MouseEvent):void{
    gotoAndStop("pic1")
    function showpic2(Event:MouseEvent):void{
    gotoAndStop("pic2")
    function showpic3(Event:MouseEvent):void{
    gotoAndStop("pic3")
    function showpic4(Event:MouseEvent):void{
    gotoAndStop("pic4")
    function showpic5(Event:MouseEvent):void{
    gotoAndStop("pic5")
    function gotoFacebook(event:MouseEvent):void {
         var FB:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://facebook.com/");
         navigateToURL(FB);
    function gotoLinkedIn(event:MouseEvent):void {
         var LI:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://linkedin.com/");
         navigateToURL(LI);
    function gotoYouTube(event:MouseEvent):void {
         var YT:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://youtube.com/");
         navigateToURL(YT);
    function gotoTwitter(event:MouseEvent):void {
         var Tw:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://twitter.com/");
         navigateToURL(Tw);
    function gotoFlickr(event:MouseEvent):void {
         var FL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://flickr.com/");
         navigateToURL(FL);
    I don't understand why the first linked picture works but the others dont?

  • Hyperlink to Flash Video Player

    Does anyone know how to push a specific video to a Flash

    player/pplaylist application. Any help would be great!!!

    Without seeing this is a guess, but if you are linking to the
    swf directly
    then that is what happens. Create a new page with the movie
    on it and link
    to it, then it should size correctly.

  • Creating Hyperlink for Flash Movie

    Hi Guys
    I have just created a flash movie. I have inserted the flash
    into dreamweaver and when somebody clicks on the movie I want it to
    take them to a certain page. If possible could I send you the .fla
    file and you can send it back with it all linked up as I have been
    getting annoyed with this all morning.
    Thanks

    Okay.
    > I have inserted the flash into dreamweaver and when

    Easy enough, once you know how to proceed. :)
    > If possible could I send you the .fla file and you can
    > send it back with it all linked up as I have been

    It's possible, sure -- but that goes agains the grain (and
    benefit) of
    why these forums are here. A dozen other people may have a
    question similar
    to yours, and by participating in a public conversation about
    it -- and also
    working it through publicly -- you not only learn a knew
    skill, but
    onlookers can learn it as well.
    If you want the whole Flash movie to respond to a click, you
    can either
    create a so-called invisible button that matches the
    dimensions of the whole
    movie, then set that above all other layers, or you can code
    your movie to
    respond to mouse clicks globally.
    The invisible button approach usually seems easier to
    newcomers, but
    neither techniques is especially difficult. What version of
    the Flash
    Player are you publishing to? (Most importantly, what version
    of
    ActionScript?)

  • Hyperlink in Flash + Skin?

    I recently created a link at the end of a video to take me to a website.  It works brilliantly.  However, since I brought the video into Flash as an embeded video to do so, I know can't create a file that has a Skin as well.  Basically, the client wants both - a video that has a link at the end to their website, but also the ability to have play control during the video.  Can this be done?

    You can implement an FLVPlayback and assign an event listener for its COMPLETE event.  You can use that listener to trigger an event handler function to take whatever action you intend... either make a linked button visible (or something) or automatically link to the intended destination.
    Using the FLVPlayback you will be able to save some file size and can load the video dynamically instead of embedding it.

  • Is Flash the solution for my problem?

    Hello All:
    This is a question about hyperlinks in Flash, but it is not a "how to" question, because I know that hyperlinks can be created in Flash.  More, my question is whether Flash is the right tool for what I'm interested in doing.
    Basically, I'm a video producer and clients occasionally ask me whether I can insert hyperlinks into their videos.  My answer has always been: "Sorry, no deal.  Final Cut Pro does not have that capability."
    So my question is this: am I making things way too difficult by seeking out Flash as a solution to this?  Apple has a software called Keynote that is supposed to be able to add hyperlinks, but it may be a bit of a clumsy to use and it seems that it sometimes delivers rather uneven results.  That's at least what I was understanding from what I read on the Apple forums.  And, on those same forums, several people suggested others like me to use Flash for creating hyperlinks in video... i.e. we produce our videos, we import to Flash, we had text hyperlinks, we export out to Quicktime.
    Would you say that Flash is probably too expensive and sophisticated a tool for something fairly straightforward like this, keeping in mind that I don't know a darn thing about how to use Flash?  What I'd really like is an intuitive piece of software that would make the process easy.  If Flash is not the answer, do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks, Geoff

    Thanks for the response.  From what I heard on the Apple forums, it was pretty clear that creating hyperlinks within the video was something that Flash could definitely do.
    I guess I'm curious to hear whether it's easy since I know nothing about Flash!  If ithere's going to be a major learning curve, I might not bother and continue to tell my clients I can't help them.
    BTW: If I wanted to import my video and create the hyperlinks, is it possible to export the video as a quicktime file and still keep the hyperlinks?  That's another important piece of this.

  • Using Flash in activedit

    I am wondering if anyone with the cfactivedit custom tag has
    had success embedding a Flash movie (.swf) in the active edit
    control?

    Your problem is that you are using flashpaper. Hyperlinks in
    flash use geturl() or something like that. Anchor tags simply won't
    work.
    You can try to ouput to pdf. It may or may not work.
