Hyperlink in Flash + Skin?

I recently created a link at the end of a video to take me to a website.  It works brilliantly.  However, since I brought the video into Flash as an embeded video to do so, I know can't create a file that has a Skin as well.  Basically, the client wants both - a video that has a link at the end to their website, but also the ability to have play control during the video.  Can this be done?

You can implement an FLVPlayback and assign an event listener for its COMPLETE event.  You can use that listener to trigger an event handler function to take whatever action you intend... either make a linked button visible (or something) or automatically link to the intended destination.
Using the FLVPlayback you will be able to save some file size and can load the video dynamically instead of embedding it.

Hi I would like to know, how do I add a Hyperlink on Flash, that opens a PDF in adobe reader and not the web browser.

Yoh, what is FSCCommanr ? sorry man I am an absolute beginner in Flash. I tried the code:
/* Click to Go to Web Page
Clicking on the specified symbol instance loads the URL in a new browser window.
    Instructions:
    1. Replace http://www.adobe.com with the desired URL address.
       Keep the quotation marks ("").
    instance_name_here.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage);
    function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage(event:MouseEvent):void {
      navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com"), "_blank");
this is the same code I used before and it opens a pdf file in a web browser, and it doesn't open an AutoCAD file.

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 pre-built flash skins

How do I add a full screen button option to the Dreamweaver pre-built flash skins?

Don't use Flash.  It's a dead web technology because the list of supporting devices is shrinking each day.  To reach the widest possible audience, you should use HTML5 <video> instead of Flash.
Copy & paste this code into a new, blank document.  Save as test.html.
Change YourVideo.ogg, ....mp4 and ....webm to your actual video file names.
Save and preview in browsers / mobile devices.

  • Using Flash Skins - any issues?

Just upgraded from RoboInfo 5 to RoboHelp 7 (long overdue)
I'm considering using a Flash skin, but am just curious if
there's any issues in doing this.
Is it possible to add a new menu button if I use a Flash skin
(I have experience using Flash, but don't think it is possible to
edit the source code so I could create a new menu button as I've
    done previously with html).
Does using a Flash skin slow down the performance at all? I
won't use a Flash skin just to get a few cool animations if I know
that it slow down the application and affect the user experience.
Any other issues with using a Flash skin I should be aware
    of?

    Hi hughbetcha
There is no FlashHelp skins editor as there is in WebHelp. So
adding a button is normally right out, unless you have some Flash
skills. But you said you actually do have Flash skills. So you will
be interested in the Skins Development Kit. Don't worry, it's not a
separate thing you have to purchase. It's really a collection of
documentation and some source files to use. You should find it in
    the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 7\FlashHelp SDK

  • Putting Hyperlinks into Flash Button Symbols

    Hi there,
I just wanted to know how to put Hyperlinks into Flash Button
    symbols
    For example;
I have a button which is named Home, and i have the UP, OVER,
DOWN and HIT stages and wanted to put a
Hyperlink to lets say Google so www.google.com.au and wanted
it to open in the same page not a new tab.
And if possible would like to know how to put multiple
Buttons as one Flash File and have them all Hyperlinked to
    DIFFERENT Pages.
I know very little Actionscript, but know what it is and
    other basics on it.
I am using Adobe CS3 Flash 9 and would prefer a simple

    Hi,
There is a video tutorial for this on my website below.

  • How to use Flash Skin in Dreamweaver 8

    Hi,
I'd like to use a Flash Video Skin

I copied the skin file (SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf) into
    Dreamweaver's Configuration>Templates>Video_Control folder,
but although I see the skin in Dreamweave's popup skin menu, I
    doesnt function correctly.
I assume I need to be doing somethign with the .fla file
(SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.fla), but I cant figure out where to put
    that in Dreamweaver.
Any suggestions on how to get my video to work with this skin
    would be appreciated.

  • Moving files doesn't update Flash Skins in DW CS 4?

    Hello,
on a page I've got a flash movie (.swf with skin (via
importing/converting a qt in adobe media encoder, then importing
video into flash, adding a skin, them exporting to site folder an
    opening in DW CS4).
it works fine in the browsers.
now when I want to change the position of the page in my site
folder (move it into different folder) DW asks me if to update
links, I click okay, but it doesn't update the code/links whatever
(to show me the skin for controlling the movie). What have I
forgotten to consider? Maybe alsready at exporting the file(s) from
    Flash?
    Thanks in advance,
    beatrice

(I will assume you're using the FLVPlayback component in
    Flash)
The .swf that holds the url of the flv (let's call that
    player.swf for
now) uses whatever link you give it. You can give it a root
    relative
location so it will work from anywhere on your site.
    /videos/flvs/film1.flv for example.
And, depending on the object/embed code generated, you should
    be able
to edit that in the code view in DW. Something like
    &streamname=/videos/flvs/film1
And you can then store player.swf in a different location.
    /media/swfs/player.swf for example.
I think DW will update links to player.swf if you move
    player.swf to a
different location, but I don't know if it will update
    object/embed
    code.
However, it seems that .swf files created with the
    FLVPlayback
component are hard-coded to look for the skin file in the
    current
location - that is, the location of the html file with the
    object/embed
    code.

    Understandable.

    it seems
    > connected with the html code, but how and why?
Oops. I think I answered this above. I think it is the
    FLVPlayback
component that creates a hard-coded path to the current
    directory.
    > it would mean that once created video holding html pages

    published from

    > That would not be a very flexible sitemanagement...
    > There must be sth I am missing here...
Again, you can store the player .swf files anywhere, and the
    .flv files
anywhere, but AFAIK, the skin .swf files must be in the same
    folders as
the .html files that reference them.
There's a chance that somebody in the Flash forums has
    created a work-
around, but I haven't been there in a while.
I haven't tested, but you /might/ be able to set a BASE href
    element to
get around it. Of course, all other links in that page would
    need to be
    root relative after doing so.
Another method (if supported by your host) might be using
    .htaccess
    with a rewrite directive.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can edit (a copy of) the
    FLVPlayback
component or one or more of its actionscript files found in
    the
    Flash configuration folder.

  • Flash Skin not showing up on website

    Hello,
I am having what seems to be a common problem, but am not having any luck with any of the solutions I have tried.
I have created a video, gone through the steps in flash cs3, and made the corresponding .swf and .flv files.
I publish preview - html and everything works great, the video plays, the skin shows up and functions flawlessly.
Then, I put the .flv, .swf, and skin.swf files on my hosting server put the html in my site code, and the skin won't show up.
The video plays on its own, and the space is blank where the skin should be, just the skin is not there.
I have tried most anything I can that I have found scouring message boards, etc, but none of the solutions are working for me.
I can give more exact descriptions to anyone willing to help me out.
    Thanks for your time

  • How to customize those 9 default flash skins?

    Hi all,
I have been going absolutely crazy trying to change the control bar at the bottom of a flash player. All I want to do is to create a cool slim black controller bar.
I tried several free players such as  Wimpy Wasp, RAVE, JW PLAYER, etc..  Every single one of them place a freaken water mark or logo on them.
I also tried Flash pro to create my own. Action script?? yeah right...So I tried customizing a stock default skin. Forget that, although I changed it, it was not looking good.
So, Is there a way to either alter the 9 default skins or import premade skins into dreamweaver?
    Thanks,
    Lou

    Lou,
You realize Flash video is not supported by ALL web devices, right?
To reach the widest audience, use MP4 video and HTML5 <video> tags.
Look at Pickle Player & optional Skin Designer.

  • Hyperlink in flash

I have a flash navigation bar in my website and the
hyperlinks have stopped working for it. The navigation bar itself
is working fine, just the hyperlinks are broke. As you can see in
the code below each link is named "Study Help", "Tips and Tricks",
etc. Each of the web pages in my site are named after those links:
    "studyhelp.htm", "tipsandtricks.htm".
This is the error message I get:
    Cannot find
    'file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Desktop/Online%20Journalism2/studyhelp'.
Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
Any ideas why they may not be working?

That sure is a lot of code to scrub through without having
actual symbols to test it. It would be easier to troubleshoot if I
had the flash file particularly because variables are set, they
equaled to something else, then equaled to even something else, so
seeing the actual flash file would help me trace what's going
    on.

  • "Last slide viewed" hyperlink in Flash export

Just trying out using Keynote as a change from Microsoft PPT, particularly for the Flash export feature (as well as the lovely design features of course).
I am going to get around the lack of a Play Audio "Action Setting" by having the audio segment on a separate, self-contained slide at the end of a document. On this self-contained slide I have put a "back" button hyperlinked to "Last slide viewed". However upon export to Flash, this function doesn't work, and hangs the entire presentation.
Can anyone confirm if this is a known bug?

I wouldn't call it a bug, more like something Apple just didn't implement. I mean, I have to wonder how hard it would have been to write a flash file that itself (not Keynote) tracks where the viewer is and remembers their last "slide"
Personally, I think the flash export on Keynote should NOT be one of its selling points. If you need a serious flash movie, it's best to just use flash.

  • PDF with Hyperlinks to Flash/Flex

My company is looking for a solution to put our print catalog
online, with links from each part number. Here is a sample of
    this...
    http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/nimco/redribbonweek07/
Our catalog has approx. 30,000 part numbers in its 280 pages.
I have a PDF that contains hyperlinks to each part number on our
site. I would like to be able to merge the incredible flexbook
    found at
    http://www.quietlyscheming.com/
with our own catalog and keep the hyperlinks.
NXTbook was able to take our hyperlinked PDF and create a
flash-based catalog complete with hyperlinks intact, but my company
wants to host it on our own servers for shopping cart reasons. So,
I know this can be done.
Are there any Flex/Flash gurus out there who can point me in
    the right direction?
    Thanks in advance.
    Randy

    hi
flash.net is the package you need on flex, inside it you
several methods that can help you, 2 of them are:
    URLVariables and navigateToURL
look at them and if you can't do it, just hire me, i'll be
    glad to do it :D
