Hyperlink outside of website

I'm pretty limited in my coldfusion knowledge. I am trying to
create a link that will reference a website outside of my own and
can't seem to make it work. I'm putting in <a href="Outside
Website address>Title</a> but it keeps trying to go to my
website ie. www.mywebsite.com.www.outsidewebsite.com/blah.htm
What am I doing wrong? Any help is greatly
appreciated!

always use "
http://someotherwibsite.com"
with the
http:// at the start
to point to external websites... depending on where you are
seeing the
action you describe it may be settings in your IDE (i.e.
Dreamweaver)
and on the actual production server all may work just fine...

i was hoping to use an HTML snippet to accomplish this on iWeb. i've spent several hours on google, and this forum too but found NOBODY addressing this:
i need to create a hyperlink from MY website to an external url. the external page needs to open at a very specific area on the page. i see that this is done on hand-coded websites.
most iWeb discussions were about hyperlinking to lower down on the same page or within the same website where 'anchors' can be used. obviously that can't be done when linking to an external website.

Hyperlinks to other websites not working

I've just created my new website and I'm having trouble with
hyperlinks to other websites. This is the particular page in
question:
http://www.geographygeek.co.uk/links.html
When I click on any of the links in explorer, they don't
work. The reason seems to be that the hyperlink has my domain name
in front, e.g. the link to sln.org.uk/geography shows up in the
explorer bar as:
http://www.geographygeek.co.uk/www.sln.org.uk/geography/
Does anyone know what I've done wrong? I can't seem to see
anything in the code. I'm sure that this is really basic, so sorry
for being 'needy'!!

You need to change this:

To just
http://www.sln.org.uk/geography/
You can do that by selecting the link(s) then going to the
properties
inspector in Dreamweaver and deleting the part that is not
needed.

Problem accessing hyperlinks on my website

hyperlinks on my website work with Internet Explorer but not with Firefox browser.

You need to use a proper HTML or text editor to create those pages. What you now have is MS Office code that mostly consists of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_Markup_Language VML] code. Only IE can display such documents properly. VML doesn't work in other browser as like Firefox.
You can see that VML code as green comments in View > Page Source
You can look at an editor like KompoZer to get W3C compliant HTML code.

HT4650 how do you get rid of adware in safari that creates hyperlinks to product websites?

I use thepiratebay.se and utorrent and I'm afraid somehow I've let adware screw up my safari broswer. I have a website www.lucidocopper.com and I have noticed several words are now hyperlinked to 3rd party's product websites. Now I'm afraid it's affecting the uploading of pictures to my website. I have not downloaded anything and I'm not sure what to do. I'd deleted all unknowns from application folder and all wondershare files from my finder. Are there any anti adware or anti virus software for mac to install to protect me in the future and ferret out the issue?

Can I permanently delete messages without using outside app/website?

Even though I've deleted my messages the usual way on my iPhone 4S, it's not properly deleting them so I've still got 1.4gb of messages stored when I look at usage. Very annoying as I'm running out of space for stuff like music so could really use any extra space, and have no desire to store messages.

How did you determine that "1.4gb of messages" is stored - there is no such display. IF you're referromg tp "other" memory, that includes a lot of other things such as the entire iOS and all app data and is about as low as you can get.
The only way to get the "other" a little lower would be to restore the phone using iTunes as new, without restoring a backup.

I am making an ad for a virtual magazine. It needs to have a hyperlink to my website, but must be submitted in a TIFF, PDF, JPEG, or EPS file. How can I do this with the Photoshop file I have already made? Please Help!!

Normally the best way to create an add is to to do it and to export it as PDF/X-4.
From Photoshop you can save as PDF, choose either the standard as the printer asks for or save as PDF/X-4.
Never use in any case EPS.
If the add contains vectors and/or fonts PDF is the best file type.
If no text or vectors are used you could use JPG with high compression quality, tiff or (not in your case) psd.
Take care that
Your file is not flattened to background, so all layers are alive, otherwise fonts will be rasterized.
You file should have a resolution in minimum between 240 and 300 ppi (not dpi)
With the text: is it pure black or is it 4c-black? K-Black is easier to accomplish in InDesign.
Don't make small elements in 4c.

How to stop text box on iWeb page from automatically reverting to hyperlink when I click 'save'

As far as I see, the main text box in the body section of my iWeb page reverts to a hyperlink (connecting to a file) when I click save. I don't know how the hyperlink got activated to begin with--I must have done something, but I don't know what it was. I tried this many times to fix it: went to Inspector "hyperlink" section, activated the text box in the page, un-clicked "make hyperlinks active" (so they are inactive), then un-clicked "Enable as a hyperlink." That much works--the hyperlink (little white arrow in blue circle) disappears from the lower right corner of text box. But as soon as I save (command S), the text box reverts to a hyperlink.
If I don't click save and move around the pages, it does not revert to a hyperlink. It only reverts to a hyperlink when the file is saved. Why is it doing this and how to stop this from happening--how to permanently return the text box to a non-hyperlink?
The website page is: http://www.usronline.net/USR/VedicResearch.html. If you click anywhere randomly in the main text, you'll get a prompt to download a PDF file. This should not be, but I can't get this hyperlink to go away for good.

Please pardon the reply delay--a big project deadline had to be met. Now back to this work:
Yes, the text in the oval object had a drop shadow (the oval object itself did not). I removed the drop shadow from the text, but the image file icon stayed in the right corner of the oval object. I deleted the text and then the image file icon disappeared. But as soon as I typed text again inside the oval object (not even pasting the previous text) the image file icon appeared again. I deleted the oval object entirely and simply typed the text inside the main text box itself. The image file icon that was attached to that oval object is gone (along with the oval object).
Still the image file icon is attached to the main text box, though. I again tried to uncheck the Enable as hyperlink (same process as described in first posting) with that oval object gone, but when I "save" again it reverts to a hyperlink.
Next I tried this: I copied the text from the problem text box and pasted it into another text box (outside of the problem one). Still in the new text box with the pasted text, the image file icon shows in the upper right corner.
I also removed all the drop shadow features from this main text box (there was one more, on some words typed in the main text box), but it is still showing as an image.
I don't know how it became an image file, and I'm still stumped as to how to fix it (short of forgetting about trying to figure out how it became an image and just retyping all text into a new text box).
The link you provided for "Web Safe Fonts" is returning this: "The server at www.ampsoft.net is taking too long to respond." I'm using Arial and Georgia (Georgia only on the menu and header text) in the site, and I had verified before designing the site that these are web safe, so I had thought they were.
If you or anyone have any further suggestions or suspicions on this matter, I'd be glad to hear them.

I have Yahoo mail. I want to add a hyperlink to emails. Your File tool in top bar has Send Link, but nothing happens. Yahoo says to use Format, but not there.

As in someone's previous question, I used to be able to add a hyperlink from a website. On Yahoo help, they say to click the hyperlink button on the formatting toolbar. There is no formatting toolbar. On your top toolbar, under File, there is a Send Link. When I click on this, nothing happens. On the top toolbar, under Edit, the Copy, Cut and Paste are grayed out. Please let me know how I can add a hyperlink to my email. I tried to add one from an Amazon page, but did not see anything on the page to make it possible. Thanks in advance.

JS for search and creation of automated hyperlinks from the results

Is it possible to create a javascript that searches a PDF document for a part of phrase (with regexp) and then creates a hyperlink of the whole row where the phrase is?
I'll explain a little bit more....
In a PDF catalog I have part numbers of 10 digits that always starts with "5010" and then there's a short describing text of the product and finally a price at the end. The part no and the short description is separated with two spaces and a "pipe" (|) and so is also the price separated from the describing text.
Example: 5010101538 | This is the describing text for the product | $4996
Now, I want create a hyperlink to my website so each product row is clickable in Acrobat. The link is static at first and at the end the product no (10 digits) comes. After the product no there is also the extension .aspx (http://www.myweb.com/pd_5010.......aspx.
I know that this should be done at the creative stage but the DB connection plugin for the parts does not support url linking in InDesign..... so I'm stuck with Acrobat for my 900 links that needs to be created. ;)
Since I'm new to JS in Acrobat I hope there is help out there!

Hyperlinked text--the text, not the link--disappears when I create a PDF from a book in FM 11

I am editing a FrameMaker 11 document with some text that is hyperlinked to a website. Earlier PDFs output fine. When I created the last PDF, some of the text disappeared in the PDF, but it's still visible in FM. On the PDF, the hyperlink is active in the blank space and it works to go to the website. Specifically the hyperlinked text is part numbers in a table with a shaded background--I mention this because if I open a page of the defective PDF in Illustrator--the text that has disappeared is behind the shaded square. Some of the hyperlinked part numbers are visible in the PDF--this seems almost random. It's not just part numbers or rows where I have edited something. I'm editing the document, I didn't create it. My background is InDesign and I am a novice in FrameMaker. Appreciate any guidance or suggestions.

Not really sure that I fixed the problem, but I did find a work around and wanted to post it if someone else runs across the same issue. Apparently the document creator used lots of custom rules and shading. If I pulled up the custom rules and shading palette and just unchecked both the custom ruling and shading boxes, it allowed me to create the print file correctly--the disappearing part numbers were on the new PDF. I didn't have to update the whole book which I didn't want to do because I feared it would mess up the rules and shading. Just unchecking the box before creating the PDF solved that issue for my purposes.

I have created an email signature in iCloud and would like to create hyperlinks for my websites. How do I do this in my email signature? I know I can click the www button on each email, but would like it to appear in the signature every time.

You can add a URL to the signature in the iCloud mail preferences

When opening .doc from website link, FF appends .docx extention to file & does not open in Word 2010, with incorrect file format error. Pls Help

I'm using Firefox v12 to open a hyperlink from a website that points to a filename.doc MS Word Document for download.
We are then asked to open the file with MS Word (Default), which our installed version is MS Word 2010.
Firefox then renames the file appending a .docx to the filename e.g filename.doc.docx. MS Word 2010 opens with error 'incorrect file format', which is correct as Firefox has renamed it.
Is there a fix or workaround for this?

I can save the file and it opens fine.
It's when I open it directly, Firefox appends the 'docx' extenstion to the filename.
If I continue to reopen from the web link, Firefox renames the file as so
mydoc.doc-1.docx
mydoc.doc-2.docx
mydoc.doc-3.docx
I can open a .doc from a Microsoft site ok.
I have the feeling it's the way the web server is reporting the mime type to Firefox.
The link in question works fine in Internet Explorer.
