I am finally buying a TV. Should I try and run my mac to the TV for streaming video or just get a wifi enabled tv?

Also what TV is the best to get? I will not be getting cable so would like to be able to use my wireless internet or my mac to get the content to the t.v. set. I would like to be able to do this wirelessly, is that possible? Sit on the couch with my mac in my lap and command the t.v. set ten feet away? Be able to Skype with family/friends and see them on the t.v. and use the camera on my mac etc.. etc...

The best TV to get IMO is the Sony Bravia series with anti-glare screens and their faster refresh rates.
You can tell the anti-glare, there is no shine/reflection on the screen which causes blank spots when your trying to see a important game.

Forget buring out your expensive Mac and Superdrive to drive the TV, get
1: A Playstation with BlueRay (ideal!)
2: AppleTV or Roku, (optional) only $69
3: Airport or Airport Exterme Router or Toslink cable
4: HDMI cable, you can get them online a heck of a lot less expensive than in the stores.
5: Optional TV wall mount for HDTV's Much nicer having your TV up higher at eye level than looking down at it on a table.
The Playstation will allow you to play BlueRay movies, which on your Bravia and a 5.1 -7.1 surround sound system from Harmon Kardon would make a very sweet home theater setup (I know)
Also you install Netflix on any of #1 or #2 and for $8 a month stream all sorts of movies and TV shows, most a little dated but still good and worth a mere $8. I would go for the Roku as it's less expensive and has more TV services than the AppleTV. Both have a remote.
Next the Airport has a stereo audio output plug which you can connect to the TV (RCA breakout cable) and stream music from your Mac via WiFi.
If your a audiophile then connect the Toslink mini to Toslink optical on the HK surround sound system from your Mac (the stereo outport doubles as a Toslink mini) and enable the various modes to fill your room with glorious sound.
The HK system can take 2.0 channel iTunes music and turn it into 5.1 even 7.1, althought it won't be true surround sound, the music flows from all speakers, it's really nice (and powerful) with the 100 watt speakers and 200 watt subwoofer. You get to hear the TRUE sound of your ITMS music, not the lousy iPhone/iPod quality. (crap)
My neighbors are very nice and I only blast it when I know they are not home.
It's bad to place undo wear and tear on a many thousand dollar Mac when you can use much less expensive, more easily, cheaper replaced items that are better tailored than a Mac to stream/power a TV it's not designed to do.
With a Mac your likely going to want to move it, hookkng and unhooking is a pain in the behind. Not mentioning wearing out your ports, collecting dust instead of being in a case protected when not in use.
