I am seeking information on thermal cycle testing automation.

I am seeking information on thermal cycle testing automation. I am using Labview 7 to perform an 8 cycle thermal test with a performance test at -25C and 65C with an end-of-line test at the end of the 8 cycles. I am looking for a way to automate. I have the equipment to control the PLC temp. controller. I just need to know if anyone has encountered this type of test. Thanks.

Hi Dennis,
Thanks a lot for your suggestion and example.Well I am finding bit hard to put all codes together. But I am sure that its doable with the technique you told.I am sending you my code for temperature controller which is basically PID based temperature controller and controls one temperature at a time. What I need is to put it in event structure which you used for your application and achieve three different setpoints which are controlled through this code of temperature controller for specified length of time.
I have also written code which you send it to me for different setpoints and dwell times. Finally what need to be done is to put these code together in order to achieve my goal.I am sending you all these codes,I hope they make sense to you.I will be highly thankful to you for providing me your help and suggestions in order to achive thermal cycling with labview. Thanks a lot for giving your valuable time on it.
Please find attached codes.
Take care
bye
Ahsan

  • Need help, cycle testing...

    Hi all,
First off i would like to just say i am a complete labview noob!
I am having quite a bit of trouble getting a vi together to run a pressure cycle test.
My workplace has some, what seems old school hardware and software.
I am trying to create a vi that reads pressure from a pressure transducer which when is greater than a desired pressure it will turn on/off relays on a relay board made by an old co-worker. The relays are what turn on/off a pump.  I assume this would have to be some kind of a loop but like previously stated, i am new to this and i am very stuck, confused, and most of all lost with no solution... here is what i am working with:
    Software:
    MAX vers. 4.5
    LabVIEW 7.1
    Hardware:
    SCXI 1000 Chassis
    SCXI 1600
    SCXI 1102->1303 (thermocouple readings)
    SCXI 1121->1321 (pressure transducer)
    SCXI 1160->1324 (switch)
Thus far my understanding is that the SCXI 1160 connected with the 1324 is the switch board which then powers my relay board.  I just cannot understand or find out how can i implement this in my vi to turn things on and off.
I appreciate any help or guidance in the right direction... I can take a picture of the block diagram i currently have if needed which is most likely not helpful

OK you've got some basic misconceptions about LabVIEW and, more generally, about programming.  So I'll try to explain what your program does and point you to the LabVIEW help and tutorials.
This section of code really make little sense:
In it it read a value from the DAQ and passes it into the loop after the loop starts the value is a loop invariant constant (it does not change) so if Pressure is not greater than High limit the loop spins very fast consuming the entire processor core it runs on until the user changes the value of High limit to make stop = True.
This section Writes on T boolean to a DO Task
HOWEVER, since there is no data dependancy between these two sections of code LabVIEW is free to spawn a new thread and both will execute at the same time. (LabVIEW is great for making multi-threaded applications - even when you didn't want it to)
What you want to do is read the Pressure repetedly at a meaningful rate and write the DO task based on the comparison. Then Exit when the user wants to exit.  A state machine would be a good choice for this vi.  to add scalability to the project but, you could get away with a simple while not exit loop with a DAQmx Read a comparison and a DAQmx write in it with task initialization prior to the loop and clean-up code for the tasks after the loop.   Use the New vi from template to select a state machine pattern and look at the shipping examples to help understand how to use these patterns in your code.

  • How to expose to test automation dynamically generated third party component

We need to expose to test automation extended check box (which is not our component), that is dynamically generated and works together with tree.
So, our application contains the  following code:
    import org.sepy.ui.CheckBoxExtended;
    checkBox = new CheckBoxExtended();
Then all properties of check boxes are set dynamically.
These check boxes are  used with the tree, to select  any of its nodes.
When using test automation tool (we are evaluating RiaTest), automation tool agent sees the tree, but it does not see checkboxes, and therefore selection  of tree node cannot be automated.
Is there any  way to make automation tool agent see this check box? There is a procedure for instrumenting custom components, but this is like third party component.
    Thanks,
    Miroslaw

I am beginning to think that there is no solution to my problem. Let me better define the problem:
    1. Automation tool does not see extended check box.
    2. The container of extended check box is standard tree (nothing to instrument).
    3. Extended check box is third party component which was derived from standard button, and not standard check box (theoretically nothing to instrument again).
    4. Extended check box was used in item renderer class of the tree.
Maybe elements used in item renderers cannot be exposed to automation tools (I have tried FlexMonkey and RiaTest, but they both failed)?

There is also TestComplete by AutomatedQA but it is of
limited usage because it is not mx.automation aware and in many
difficult cases reverts to dumb mouse X,Y recording.
And there is the upcoming RIATest that will be specifically

  • Siebel Test Automation - Anonymous user

    Hi,
We have integrated siebel 8.1.1.7 callcenter_enu AOM with LDAP for authentication of user authentication and are trying to use the same AOM for Test Automation.
change param EnableAutomation=True for comp XX
change param AllowAnonUsers=True for comp XX
    When we hit the url
    http://hostname/callcenter_enu/start.swe?SWECmd=AutoOn
We could see that the user logged into the system is the anonymous user instead of the actual user being used.
When we do the same with DB authentication AOM, the actual user logs into the system which is as expected.
Could you please let me know how can we set the actual user to logon in LDAP Authenticated AOM.

  • Script file for test automation.

I have a file “HPE3631A configure output.vi” (DC power supply). This file I downloaded from NI web for using control our DC power supply. I would like to use a script file that can automatically process and configure the output voltage, current parameter? I do not have to click mouse for change the voltage and current parameter. We would like use this script file as one of our test automation.
What format file can use as a script? Is any example file I can use as a reference (it does not have to be HPE3631A).

I don't have an example. You are free to create a script file in any format that you want. To give you a little help, say you have a comma separated file. The first field could be instrument address. The second field could be a function. This might be Initialize, Configure Voltage,Configure Trigger, etc. The following fields could be parameters that you pass. Some functions would require more parameters than others. Look at the number of functions in the driver and see if you want to duplicate them and how many parameters they require or whether you want to break some of them down into something smaller. When you've decided that, then you can determine how to read the file and parse out the commands. Do you want to do error checking here or someplace else? What I mean is, what if the file contains the word "Initilize" instead of "Initialize". What if a voltage parameter is out of bounds?
Like I mentioned, you could have a LabVIEW VI generate the script. Imagine a front panel text ring in which you have listed all of the various functions. If function b is selected, have logic that displays the correct number (and type) of other parameters required. When the selection is complete, click an OK button to display the new step in a table. A table is nothing more than a 2D string array so saving it to a file is then simple.

  • Seeking Information on Company Code Currency in COPA

    Greetings all,
I am working on a project to activate the company code currency flag in COPA (attributes under KEA0). I have activated the flag in a test system and as expected I now get two PA docs, a 10 and a B0. The oddity begins when I compare PA docs created from SD and FI. In my example I am creating documents in three different currencies; 1) transaction curr = SEK, 2) company curr = EUR, and 3) operating concern curr = USD. I am on ECC 6.0 EP 4.
If I create a PA from a billing document (record type F) then the data looks exactly as I expect it. The foreign currency key (FRWAE) is SEK. I can see the transaction currency is SEK with value fields in SEK, I can see the company currency is EUR with an exchange rate of SEK <-> EUR along with value fields in EUR, and I can see the operating concern currency is USD with an exchange rate of SEK <-> USD along with value fields in USD.
However, if I create a similar document with FB50 (record type B) the foreign currency key (FRWAE) is EUR instead of SEK and the exchange rate to USD is 1 (KURSF) instead of the actual exchange rate. I only get company currency and operating concern currency values. The values in the value fields are correct per currencies eventhough the fx rate is whacked. In FI the transaction currency is SEK but you would never know it in PA. The really bizarre thing is when I go to display the PA doc (I am branching from the FI doc) it behaves very odd. The default view is Op conc which is in USD. If I click the foreign curr button it displays USD. If I click the company code curr button it displays EUR. If I then go back to the foreign curr view it is now in EUR???
I am hoping someone can explain the difference between the two, or at least point me to a good resource. If there is a rational reason for this system behavior then I am hoping someone can suggest some way to manipulate the data.
    Many thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
CO-PA will only store values in either operating concern currency or company code currency(if active). For FI postings CO-PA fills the field foreign currency in the CO-PA line item with the currency with the currency of the company code. The reason for this is that the currency conversion for FI documents is that the currency conversion for FI documents is executed with the
company code currency and the field FRWAE is always filled with the currency that is used for conversion. This is designed in order to allow a reconciliation between FI and CO-PA. CO-PA uses company code currency as the base to convert to operating
concern currency for FI postings. The field FRWAE is not intended to reflect the transaction currency. It is just used to store the currency from which the conversion to the currency of the record is made.
In case of direct postings from FI/MM CO-PA takes over group currency directly if group and operating concern currency are identical. As group currency is translated in FI with exchange rate ( according the settings in transaction 'OB22' for company code) you'll find this exchange rate in CO-PA too. I have attached SAP Note 604936 to this ticket that describes the translation logic used in PA for postings from FI and MM.
The currency translation from SD however works differently as described in SAP Note 429517. In this case PA will not consider any values in group currency. Values in operating concern currency are either translated based on transaction or company code currency using exchange rate type 'M'.
    Hope this will help.
    Best regards, Takashi

  • Seeking Information on PE4 Encoding and Encoders.

Hi.  I have spent several hours looking at forums and manuals trying to learn how to better use my stuff.  I have several questions which I have not found answers too.  If some folks could help answer some or all, it would be appreciated.
I have several applications on my PC which have the ability to make a DVD.  They Are Arcsoft Showbiz; Arcsoft Total Media 3; ATI Catalyst Media Center and Premier Elements 4.  Can PE4 get confused and grab one of the other program's encoding programs instead of using its own.  I am assuming that PE4 has the better encoding program and hope I am using it.  I used G-Spot to see all of my "Video Codec and filters".  The only ones which showed up which were associated with Adobe were these.
DSH    MPEG1Packet    MainConcept (Adobe2) MPEG Video Decoder    ad2mcdsmpeg.ax
    DSH    MPEG1System    MainConcept (Adobe2) MPEG Splitter    ad2mcspmpeg.ax
    -  Does that sound right?
My video files are SD 4:3.   Using GSpot, I found out the following.
One of my Sony DCR-TRV280 .avi files had an average bit rate of 22589 kb/sec  &  2.786 bits-pixel/frame (GSpot Quality measurement)
One of my Sony DCR-SR220 MPEG-2 files had an average bit rate of 9100 kb/sec  &  0.879 bits-pixel/frame (GSpot Quality measurement)
Both files, when turned into DVD by PE4 at the maximum 8MB/s setting had an average bit rat of 8813 kb/sec  &  0.851 bits-pixel/frame (GSpot Quality measurement)  The DVD size was less than 1GB.
    - The encoder used by PE4 seems to hit it's limit at 8813 kb/sec.  Is this a limitation of the encoder, or a standard set by DVD-Video?
    - If there is no defined standard bit rate upper limit for DVD-Video, are there better encoders out there which go above the PE4 8813 kb/sec capability?
    - If there are better encoders, can a person buy one and plug it into PE4 -or- export an edited file out of PE4 and have this higher level encoder convert the file?
    - I have a DVD of a youth football game made by another dad.  His camcorder was one of the best about 3 years ago and the DVD looks way better than what my camcorder can do.  GSpot says his DVD has a average bit rate of 8000 kb/sec  &  0.772 bits-pixel/frame (GSpot Quality measurement).  My DVD files have higher bit rate and bits-pixel/frame measurements than his, but his looks way better.  If the standard definition screen is 720x480 pixels, then there are a total of 345,600 pixels in a frame?  If my DCR-SR220 has 1,120,000 actual pixels at 4:3, then my camcorder should be well above the 345,600 pixels in a SD 720x480 frame?  I am sure there is more to it than this and that is what I am trying to find out.
If anybody can enlighten me I would appreciate it.

    Kurvah,
The DVD specs limit one to 9.8kbps bit-rate, for a combined Audio & Video. You cannot exceed that to have a fully in-spec. file. This is for the absolute high "spikes," in the encoding process.
Depending on one's Audio bit-rate, something in the range of 8kbps is near the top. Now, there are some other considerations:
1.) some folk have problems with set-top players not handling anything above 7, all that well.
2.) Robert Johnson tested PE and found the ultimate quality setting was somewhere around 7.8, IIRC. Most of his finding appear in articles on Muvipix..
There are better encoders, and Hollywood uses these. Some allow up to 20 passes to squeeze the maximum out of each file. These, however, cost upward to the GNP of many small countries, and the folk, who run them have many years of experience at that level. They do nothing but transcodes day in, and day out.
PE is likely to not have problems with other applications on your computer, so long as none overwrites the Adobe Main Concept CODEC (no guarantees with any other application). Only hang up can be with applications, that contain packet-writing modules, that seize control of one's burner(s). Adobe programs want 100% control of these, and usually throw errors, or just cannot find the burners, if one has something like Nero's InCD, or Roxio's DLA. These should not be installed (the packet-writing module).
