I am sick of receiving too many junk e-mails

Hello?

Hi pepe64
This isn't a chat site; it's populated by users just like yourself, so you have to be patient. Even if no one responds, after a couple of days an Apple representative will likely see the lack of a response and post something helpful.
Here are three that they would most likely suggest right away:
iCloud: Manage junk mail
iCloud: Identifying and filtering junk mail
iCloud: Why am I getting junk mail (spam)?
If you're getting too much spam sometimes you simply have to abandon that email address and create another. Keep your email addresses limited to those you trust, and never post them on a publicly searchable website (such as this one).
What email client program are you using? Mail.app? If so use iCloud mail.
iCloud mail spam filtering is very good. I have received three or four spam emails in total, in all the time I've been using iCloud mail. Even if you never divulge your email address to anyone, spammers will simply send to hundreds of millions of randomly generated addresses. For those that get through, set up Mail's junk mail filter.

    How are you determining/ensuring your server isn't an open relay?

  • Too many junk mailboxes

    I use Mail on my Mac as the client for my company's Gmail service.  Mail has 4 mailboxes for junk mail, and I'm not sure if I can delete any of them, and if so, which one(s).  Under Gmail, there is a mailbox labled "spam".  I assume that gmail itself filters incoming messages and puts the spam here.  But also, under iCloud, there is 1 mailbox labeled "junk", 1 labeled "junk(@me.com)", and 1 labeled "junk email."  How can I clean up this mess?  And if I manually move a message to junk, which one do I use?

    Apple support article with some information on extra junk mailboxes:

  • Too many addresses in mail's "From" pull-down menu

    i have 3 mobileme addresses, a few of aliases, and 1 gmail account. my problem is this:
    when composing a new message, there are too many addresses the "from" pull-down menu, because mail includes both the .mac and .me versions of each of my aliases. so, instead of a list of 6 addresses, mail shows 10. furthermore, the addresses appear, in the menu, in a random order, making it even harder to find and select the address i need:
    they display in this order:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    - how do i get mail to stop listing both the .mac and .me versions of addresses (aliases) in the pull-down menu?
    - and how do i alphabetize the list?
    thanks.

    i must have been really tired when posting the above. lol. obviously i meant "a few aliases" and "there are too many addresses in the 'from' pull-down menu."
    i hope someone knows how to address this issue. (no pun intended.)

  • IPhones w ActiveSync creating too many connections on mail server

    Over the past two days, I have started getting 503 errors, indicating too many connections. When I went to look at active connections, I noticed that the vast majority were from the iPhones that connect using ActiveSync. Just in the 45 minutes since I cleared all active connections, my iPhone has created 14 active connections. When you multiply that by the eight iPhones we have at this company the number jumps to 112. It is easy to see why the 503 error is getting generated by the end of the business day. It is as though the iPhone is unable to let go of an active connection, and just starts a new one. This only seems to be happening since the iPhone 3.0 update. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

    Yes - I'm having a very similar problem on our server. But in this case the user has a very large mailbox - and imap processes are spawned but never die unless I go in and manually kill them.

  • Adware - does it exist on a Mac? - Too many junk messages

    I'm trying to find out if it's possible that adware exists on a mac. It seems as though if I leave Mail open, I get an influx of junk messages. How do I find out if this nasty thing exists? How do you get rid of it?

    I have three accounts in "Mail". My main source of mail is with my Mac Account. My two other accounts are: One with my ISP (Bresnan Cable), and the other is with gmail.
    I have never gotten junk (spam) in my Mac Account or my gmail account. I used to get about thirty or more junk messages every day in my ISP Account until I went to their web mail site and I changed my preferences to "only accept mail from a list". A list that I made from my address book and previous recipients. Now, I do NOT get any junk mail - fingers crossed!
    A suggestion: Do not fill out surveys on the internet! That usually starts a chain reaction of spam.

  • I receive too many email from Itunes

    How can I change this situation?

    You can turn off emails about Apple news and announcements and iTunes by logging into your account via http://appleid.apple.com - select the 'language and contact preferences' section on your account and untick the boxes.

  • Too many messages in mail

    i'm using gmail on my phone, and when i initially set it up the phone grabbed ALL the emails i had on my mac, including the ones in the trash! is there a way to avoid this for the next time i sync my phone? also when i send an email on the phone i get a copy of the email i just sent. i have the cc: to myself option turned off. any ideas or suggestions for either or both problems?

    Make sure you Mail Settings > Advanced is set to Recent mode. Then make sure the "Show" setting is at 25, instead of 200. This worked for me.
    Gmail will download sent messages into your inbox, which is a bit of a pain. This is a result of Gmail's folder structure, which uses meta tags to organize mail instead of hard folders. If this is unacceptable, Y! or .Mac might be a better alternative since they use a hard folder structure. You can forward your Gmail to Y! and have Y! set up rules to organize what comes over.

  • Too many lines in my log file

    Hy every body,
    I've made a Tomcat project under Eclipse and I'm using log4j.
    I've configured my log4j in "log4j-config.xml" file.
    I've made one file per level (DEBUG, INFO, WARN and ERROR), but I'm receiving too many lines in my "debug.log" file.
    Example:
    17:52:39 - [main] [DEBUG] org.apache.commons.beanutils.BeanUtils : BeanUtils.populate(org.apache.struts.tiles.TilesPlugin@14d556e, {definitions-parser-validate=true, definitions-parser-details=2, definitions-debug=2, moduleAware=true, definitions-config=/WEB-INF/struts/struts-tiles-defs.xml})
    17:52:39 - [main] [DEBUG] org.apache.commons.beanutils.BeanUtils : setProperty(org.apache.struts.tiles.TilesPlugin@14d556e, definitions-parser-validate, true)
    17:52:39 - [main] [DEBUG] org.apache.commons.beanutils.BeanUtils : setProperty(org.apache.struts.tiles.TilesPlugin@14d556e, definitions-parser-details, 2)
    Can some one tell me how to filter my logs.
    Here is a part of my "log4j-config.xml" file:
    <appender name="DEBUG" class="org.apache.log4j.FileAppender">
              <param name="File" value="${log.path}/debug.log" />
    <param name="Threshold" value="DEBUG" />
    <param name="Append" value="false" />
    <layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout">
    <param name="ConversionPattern" value="%d{HH:mm:ss} - [%t] [%-5p] %c : %m%n" />
    </layout>
         </appender>
    Thanks in advance.

    Hy every body,
    I've made a Tomcat project under Eclipse and I'm
    using log4j.
    I've configured my log4j in "log4j-config.xml" file.
    I've made one file per level (DEBUG, INFO, WARN and
    ERROR), but I'm receiving too many lines in my
    "debug.log" file.Then don't use that level. The whole point of the various levels is to be able to trade off level of detail for volume of output. Debug is meant to be very verbose.
    You can set various classes or packages to log at different levels, overriding the default for that logger. So if you don't want debug output for com.acme.whatever, then in log4j.properties or log4j.xml or whatever, you can configure that package and all "subpackages" for info, warn, or error. See log4j's docs for details.

  • Special Ledger Roll up: too many records created in receiver table

    Hello,
    When I execute roll up from 1 special ledger to another special ledger (leaving out a number of fields) 4 records (postings) are selected but in the receiver table there are 92 records created (4*23) so 88 records too many. For each selected record in the sender table 7 records contain only 0 amounts and have an incorrect RPMAX value (starting with 16 till 336). The 8th record has an amount and has the correct RPMAX value: 352). In Sender and Receiver Ledger fiscal year variant Daily Balance is assigned (= each day is a period). Any hint how to prevent the empty records?

    Installing the patch, re- importing the SAP Provisioning framework (I selected 'update') and recreating the jobs didn't yield any result.
    When examining pass 'ReadABAPRoles' of Job 'AS ABAP - Initial Load' -> tab 'source', there are no scripts used .
    After applying the patch we decided anyway to verify the scripts (sap_getRoles, sap_getUserRepositories) in our Identity Center after those of 'Note 1398312 - SAP NW IdM Provisioning Framework for SAP Systems' , and they are different
    File size of SAP Provisioning Framework_Folder.mcc of SP3 Patch 0 and Patch 1 are also exactly the same.
    Opening file SAP Provisioning Framework_Folder.mcc with Wordpad : searched for 'sap_getRoles'  :

    So I assume the updates mentioned in Note 1398312 aren't included in SP3 Patch 1. Manually replaced the current scripts with those of the note and re- tested : no luck. Same issue.
    Thanks again for the help,

  • Send/receive issue after adding too many additional mailboxes

    Hello Everyone,
    I am trying to solve a problem with Outlook 2010, together with Exchange 2007 (SBS 2008 server). I am not sure if I should post this in the Exchange forum, or the Outlook 2010 section.
    The inbox (or actually all folders) are not updating when I add too many additional mailboxes via Account Settings>More Settings>Advanced Tab.
    When i keep it down at 4 mailboxes, all seems fine. When I add a fifth mailbox, it no longer syncs automaticly. The user has to manually select send/receive in order to receive mail.
    What i tried:
    1) Fixing OST
    2) Removing OST, create a new one.
    3) Create a new outlook profile
    4) Tried /cleanviews and /safe switches
    5) Checked all Office updates
    6) Tried different Send/receive group configurations (altough it is to my understanding this should not apply for Exchange)
    7) Disabling cache (not an option, outlook crashes a couple of minutes because of the large size of the additional mailboxes)
    8) Disabling "Download Shared Folders" in Account Settings>More Settings>Advanced Tab
    Could anyone assist with this problem? Thanks in advance!
    Regards, Anton

    Hi Anton,
    As far as I know, Outlook 2010 allow up to 5 Exchange accounts to be configured in a single mail profile by default. But the limit can be changed up to 15 accounts by adding a registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Exchange
    DWORD: MaxNumExchange
    Value: a number between 1 and 15
    Please try adding this key and let me know the result.

    It's recommended to download and install
    Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
    programs.

    What were you doing when you received the message?
    I have seen reports on these forums where there is a limit to how many contacts you can have in the "to" field of a text message. That is the only thing I can think of where someone has reported getting a warning about too many contacts.
