I am trying to connect my LaCie thunderbolt 2 5big drives to my new Mac Pro. They will not mount. If I unplug them and plug them into my MBP they mount immediately
I have 2 LaCie Thunderbolt 2 5Big drives. I have been using them successfully with my mbp. I just purchased a Mac Pro and plugged them in and they will not mount. I am stumped as how to get the Mac Pro to recognize them

Have you tried one at a time? Have you tried different ThunderBolt ports?
What display are you using and what port is it plugged into? You may want to be sure your drives and your displays are not on the same bus.

My IPOD Touch initially had a white screen. I tried correcting this by restoring default settings via ITunes. The Restore Failed with error 1602 and now the IPOD touch is completely dead. Yes the original Install Discs can be replaced for a nominal fee. Call AppleCare, you will need a credit card and the serial number of the machine. You can use the AppleCare Contact Info for the phone number on your part of the planet.

My brand new Mac Pro Tower that I spent a small fortune on sometimes boots up and does not connect to the internet when every other computer in my office does and other times it just kicks me straight off. My question is, is there a problem with the wi fi on these machines?
Brand new nMP Mac Pro 6,1 Late 2013.... and it is defective - the older silver tower might be easier to find parts but at least it is not 65 lbs and is something that can be taken in - which I think you really need to do.
When you run etrecheck from www.etresoft.com it can show what is installed, drivers and might help point to something on software side.
Grant is the go-to person here I think among others for networking issues.
Airport Express and signal strength, channel it is trying to use, whether the Network control panel settings are "correct" or need to be changed (even the order, what it is trying to look for and use).
If you move it to another spot or put another computer over in that general vicinity...? behaves the same.

What's the best way to configure my thunderbolt drive with the new mac pro?
I have an external pegasus drive connected to my mac pro. Obviously the computer is limited in space and I was wondering whether I should move my "user" folder which will include documents, pictures, videos, etc onto the pegasus. That way the 256gb hard drive on the mac pro is dedicated solely for the os and and apps. What do you guys think?

How to use an SSD with your HDD
If you are going to use an SSD as a boot drive together with your existing HDD as the "data" drive, here's what you can do.
After installing the SSD you will need to partition and format the SSD using Disk Utility. Then, install OS X on the SSD. After OS X has been installed boot from the SSD. Use Startup Disk preferences to set the SSD as the startup volume.
Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your user account listing in the sidebar and select Advanced Options from the context menu.
You will see a field labeled "Home dir:" At the right end you will see a Change button. Click on it. In the file dialog locate the Home folder now located on the HDD (HDD/Users/account_name/.) Select the folder, click on Open button. Restart the computer as directed.
When the computer boots up it will now be using the Home folder located on the HDD.
Another more technical method involving the Terminal and aliases is discussed in depth here: Using OS X with an SSD plus HDD setup - Matt Gemmell. This is my preferred approach because I can select which of the Home's folders I want on the HDD and which I don't want. For example, I like to keep the Documents and Library folders on the SSD because I access their content frequently.
Be sure you retain the fully bootable system on your HDD in case you ever need it. -
New Officejet Pro 6830 will not print via USB connection. It scans great to PC. It copies.
New HP Officejet Pro 6830 for user to have local USB printer/scanner at desk. User runs win 7 64 bit on a network. Raninstall through setup.exe. Followed steps, connected printer via USB when it said to and it detected it and finished install.You can use HP Scan software and it scans to the PC perfectly. It will not print from any application or even a testpage from the Printer Properties page. If you go to the maintenance application it will print status and test page. If you run HP Scan and Print doctor it does it's thing, gives all Green Check marks and lets you print a test page fine, but it stillwill not print even a test page from the printer properties page (start/Devices and Pritners/right click on Officejet Pro 6830, select Printer Properties for Officejet Pro 6830 (not the Fax 6830), and click print test page. It does not seethe printer. It is a networked PC and has network defined HP network printers as well but user wanted a printer/scanner at his desk. I actually took the unit and connected to my laptop which is same win 7 64 bit platform and it does the same thing. I disable the virus protection to do the install so that is not an issue. It clearly sees and installs the printer, andlike I said the HP Scan works fine so it is connected via the USB to the PC, but it will not print. I have tried to install from the CD, and removed device and tried to install from the new downloaded drivers as well and it just does not want to print.I have conected to different USB ports, and like I said actually tried it on a different PC and had same results. Guidance certainly would be appreciated.

I have provided a document for setting Security permissions for printing to see if that will help. If the issue persists, reinstall the printer on the Administrator Account to see if you have the same results.Unlock Hidden Administrator Account and install the printer on this account: Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD. CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'. Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter. Next, close CMD and restart your computer. When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it. If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked.Under the Administrator account, install the printer software. Test the printer. To turn off the Admin account start back at step 1 and type in net user administrator /active:no.Please let me know the outcome. The LaCie is connected via DVI to thunderbolt adapter. It had been working, and then when I switched off the computer and restarted several days later, I see the signon screen flash quickly, followed by nothing, followed by the signon screen and spinning beach ball and it simply freezes. Any thoughts?
When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. I was trying to transfer itunes to my macpro from my iphone 4 and the phone froze up with the itunes logo and a usb cord looking like its suppose to plug into the itunes.. Now my phone wont go past that screen and i cant use the phone at all... Help if you can?
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created. -

I'm trying to connect my 30" Cinema Display to my new Mac Pro along with a new Apple 23'" monitor. The new Apple monitor is fine. On the cinema monitor everything is blown up pretty large. Any ideas on how to solve this?

I am trying to connect my JVC Hard Disk Drive Camcorder to my IPAD 2 via the Apple camera kit. I am able to download photos, but video files not showing. Camera shows Mass Stoarge. How can I download videos please?
The file name only has 6 characters and I'm not sure what the .mod format is. So that's why they are not seen by the iPad.
Another way to transfer. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
