(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

This kind of problem can often be fixed with the  microsoft Installer cleanup utility.
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been withdrawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google  msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
After installing, To run the program  – All Programs>>Windows Install
If you get  permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
When you run the cleanup utility, look for any instance that you find of iTunes and remove it.
It is possible that you will have to remove other apple programs if removing iTunes doesn't allow you to install iTunes. Post back with any furtyher error messages if there is a problem.

"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Itunes.msi' in the box below
    please help, its frustrating

first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the revo uninstaller http://http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
next download itunes. it worked for me hope this is helpful!!
oonce you get into the revo uninstallergo thru to delete itunes hit uninstall on the itunes icon then you will go thru to it will tell u the same nmessage about the feature and network hit cancell then go thru and hit scan (make sure bthe advance scan button is pushed) this will take awhile but go thru the list and hit everything associated with itunes. hit delete then install itunes again. it worked for me hope it works for you!

  • ITunes not installing, Window XP SP3.  Warning reads "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Enter alternate path to folder containing installation package"iTunes.msi.

iTunes not installing.  Windows XP, SP3.  Mesage reads:" The feature you are trying to use is ona network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package iTunes.msi in the box below.  iTunesSetup.exe shows in my download folder, but it will not install.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • I haven't synced my iphone 4 with my windows xp pc since Nov 2011.  now I can't even open Itunes.  I get a message that says :the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource tat is unavailable".  I can't uninstall it either.

When I try to uninstall iTunes so that I can reinstall it, I receive this message:  "The installation source for this product is not available.  Verify that th esource exists and that you can access it".
I don't understand this as I'm the only one who has ever accessed it.  I set it up when I got my iphone last fall, and haven't synced it since.  Now I can't even open iTunes, nor can I update it, remove the program or reinstall it.
Any ideas out there?  I'm not a computer whiz, so please keep it simple.  Thanks.

You're not alone. I'm having exactly the same problem.  I am running Windows XP version 2002 and cannot uninstall Itunes or update.  This problem is affecting my ability to sync music and also with playback.  The support for PC users is severely lacking.  I'm also getting error messages that says an older version of Bonjour cannot be uninstalled.  Help!

  • I cannot update my itunes to the latest version? I get an error message saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click ok to try again, or enter an aternate path to a folder containing the installation ...

I also get the following message when I try again that the path cannot be found for iTunes.msi

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
