I am using a Macbook Air mid 2012 and an apple application "Mail". With only one email account (Yahoo), everything works perfectly. But the problem started when I added GMAIL account. Now it keeps on asking for my password for gmail and keychain.

With only Yahoo account in my Macbook Air "Mail", everything works perfectly. Problem started when I added my Gmail account. It keeps on asking my account and keychain passwords. And all my accounts always works offline.

It sounds like you may need to go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts and Complete setting up you Gmail account.  It may not be finished being setup.  For instance, note the line below to be selected from the drop down list in "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP", then  "Edit SMTP Server List":
Hope this helps

  • I have a MacBook Air mid 2012 11" that keeps freezing every time I use it

    Hi Everyone
I have a MacBook Air mid 2012 11" that keeps freezing every time I use it
    It's running a i7 2ghz with 8gb ram And OS X 10.8.4
I have had the Air around 11 months and the last week is the first time it has ever frozen , now it will do it after about 15 min use
It seems a little warmer than usual and it will freeze no matter what is running , or just idle .
And just to add , no google chrome installed

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • HT4410 I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7

Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

Hi there, I have MacBook Air (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.2. I want to update to latest OSX but it is saying that I need to first install MBA Flash Firmware Update 1.1. When I try to install this firmware, I am told I should have OSX 10.8.3, Each one asking other to update first, can some one help me in this regard ?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Can't find iPhoto on my macbook air mid 2012

    Hi All,
I have a problem. I just bought a macbook air mid 2012 13' notebook, and i don't find the iLife package (iPhoto, garageband, iMovie) on my laptop.
This macbook is a used one, it means i bought it in a shop, but obviously someone had used it with a different apple id. it has still a garantie 'till december.
And if i search for iphoto on app store, it says i need to buy these applications again.
The interesting thing is, i already downloaded iPhoto app on my iPhone 5 last year. after a log in with my apple id on my macbook, can't find it.
Someone please help me to understand the situation, and maybe some helpfull advice can pop up.
    Thank you,
    Peter

This is the problem. Macs manufactured after the OS X Lion launch don't come with discs, so OS X, iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand are registered to the Apple ID used to register the MacBook, so you can't install them free of charge.
If you have just bought it, return it and get a new one because I don't think the shop will help you install the applications for free. A new MacBook will allow you to get those applications for free, so you won't have any problem. In case you still want to keep this MacBook, tell the shop to call Apple to deauthorize your MacBook from its old Apple ID, if they know which is it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

One thing is iPhoto for OS X, and another thing is iPhoto for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. They are different apps for different operating systems, so iPhoto for iOS won't work on the MacBook

  • Hi everybody, my Macbook air mid 2012 MD 231 suddenly shut down then i can not turn it on. I heard a sound like a fuse is blown or something like that. Did any system break or burnt? I did not charge at that moment. Plz help

my Macbook air mid 2012 suddenly turn off after a strange sound (like the sound òf a fuse has blown or something like that) and I also feel a burnt smell too while i am watching a film on the internet and did not charge the laptop at this moment. The sound was from the left of it, and now just a dark screen , even I tried charging it (still has green light at the charge tool). I bought it on 13st April 2013, not often use.
I love apple and i am so sad that a new product which i seldom use could be break so easily and outstanding. It's so late in my country now but i am too disappoint about the trouble so i am writing with hope of supporting from Apple and the community.
    Please help , thank bro

You will have to take it to an Apple Store for repair.

  • How to install Canon MG3170 printer to Macbook Air (mid 2012), both USB & wifi

I have been trying to install the Canon MG3170 to my Macbook Air (mid 2012 version) using OS X Version 10.8.4. I followed the paper manual that came with the box & used the CD provided. In the midst of the installation, "AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE TRYING TO ADD THE SELECTED PRINTER: UNABLE TO FIND THE APPROPRIATE SOFTWARE ON YOUR SYSTEM AFTER RUNNING SOFTWARE UPDATE."
    Problems:
    1) Cannot connect on Network because there is no WPS button on my Airport Extreme and Airport Express.
    2) Cannot print, both via USB or wifi network.
When I bought the printer, I specifically selected this because it has Airprint and wireless printing and was one of the few printers in the Apple Online store. However, I have been having a lot of issues getting the printer installed to be used on  my Macbook Air.
    Please help!!

    Thank you John Galt!
After running SOFTWARE UPDATE, I restarted the Macbook. (DO NOT CONNECT THE PRINTER TO THE MACBOOK YET!)
Then I connected the Canon Printer MG3170 to my MacBook Air via the USB cable.
Next, I switched on the printer.
    I am able to print and scan (via USB cable) from;
SYSTEM PREFERENCES - PRINT & SCAN - select CANON MG3100 series.
To install applications for printing & scanning, go to http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/contents/ASIA/EN/8201148300.html
However, this solved part of the question above, i.e., printing via USB cable (which is not the whole purpose of using the Airprint Printer) but at least it is a start.
*NOTE: UNINSTALL any prior Canon softwares and drivers specifically installed for this printer first before attempting the steps above as it may interfere with the installation process.

  • Did you have buggy Mavericks issue after installing on Macbook Air Mid 2012?

Before I have upgraded my OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3 to Mavericks 10.9 it runs so smoothly and no issues or hanging that I encounter. But just this morning when I installed Mavericks, I have the following issues:
1.) When I was adding a book(pdf and epud files) in iBook, the Finder malfunctioned, coz when I browse the books to it's location so I can add some more again, the Sidebar icons disappeared and only the names left. And when I go to the location of the files using Finder, the content is nowhere to be found, just a symbol on the window’s status bar that it is loading or busy on something.
2.) When I go to the Launchpad, when I scroll to left and right to find the apps I’m looking using the touchpad, it's not as smooth as before. It tends to halt on sliding to the other groups of apps, seems like there’s a friction stopping it from sliding smoothly all the way to the next group of apps.
3.) Updating the Apps from App Store seems cumbersome like the iPhoto and iMovie, coz when the internet fails or drops its signal for a while or so, you go back and download everything again, and when you hover the mouse to see the progress of the downloaded app, it shows for example 22mb of 1gb then shifted to 300mb of 1gb then back to 22mb of 1gb then back again. It’s not accurate and going berserk.
4.) And I don't know if it is just me, but the screen profile have changed a bit coz the red color of the Power Point icon seem too red and everything that has a hint of red color seems exaggerated, it’s too bright red. I'm just not sure it might be the GUI style of the Mavericks. . .
Anyway, have any of you experienced these kinds of issues on your Macbook Air Mid 2012?
Hopefully this could be fixed and Apple would seed an update in no time.

Even on my MacBook Pro Haswell (2013) 15 inch retina with a GT 750 2gb.
The Things in Mavericks that really make me :
    1. The Launchpad is buggy when i scroll to the left or right... sometimes it doesn't even respond at all.
    2. Safari and Other Apps Like AppStore freez sometimes, and i need to force quit everytime, because its not           responding.
    3. Bootcamp Windows 8.1 <---- NOT 8 Support (Bad Keyboard- Facetime camera- drivers,
Icons (brightness, sound) are ugly on retina screen) + GPU Drivers i can't update (maybe that's normal).
    4. iTunes is very SLOW when Scrolling the Albums (i know its 2880x1800 and that's heavy for GPU) But it's just     not a good 'Experience'.
    5. Gaming its realy good on this MacBook, but please make the drivers better, i know this GT 750 GPU can do           better.

  • Non-system disk error on macbook air mid 2012 windows 8 bootcamp, non-system disk error on macbook air mid 2012 windows 8 bootcamp

everytime i try to install windows 8 on my macbook air mid 2012 via usb i keep getting that error after bootcamp partition and reboot...
does anyone know how to solve it ? its not my flash drive cuz i've already tested 2, and both have the exact same error.
    error:
    Non-system disk
    press any key to reboot
and if i try to hold the alt/option button while its starting i can get to the windows 8 install screen, but when i select the partition bootcamp to install it doesnt let me move on.. and yes i've clicked on format in the windows installer screen, and yet nothing works..
    HELP.

There are no Windows 8 Bootcamp drivers yet so Windows 8 is unsupported. Go the the Bootcamp forum and read all the posts from Windows 8 users who can not get Windows 8 running correctly because there are no drivers. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • Handoff not working with Macbook air (mid 2012)

So, I just updated to Yosemite and I have enabled all the settings on my Macbook Air (mid 2012), iPhone and iPad.  Turned on blutooth, same wifi network, etc...  Handoff DOES work from my Mac to the iPhone but will not work from my iPhone to my mac.  I've searched high and low and can't figure out why its not working...  Any ideas?

*UPDATE* I was able to drop a file to my iPhone via AirDrop FROM my MBP to iPhone. However, I've still been unable to do the reverse (iPhone to MBP).
Same exact situation with same exact MBP (mid 2012 machine). iPhone 5S running iOS 8. I had been trying to go iPhone to MBP for about 30 minutes with no success. Neither Handoff or AirDrop would work. The MBP would recognize the iPhone in AirDrop, but the iPhone would never recognize the MBP as a location to "drop" to.
After reading you post, I tried the reverse (MBP to iPhone). I started an e-mail and got the mail icon on my iPhone lock screen. However, when trying to access the message on the iPhone i received connectivity errors and the "draft" never loaded.
Perhaps the server on the cloud they use for the handoff/airdrop/continuity feature is overloaded due to the rollout. Either way it's entirely more complex to use then it should be.

  • Macbook Air Mid 2012 Fan speed not adjusting

    Hi,
I've a serious problem with my Macbook Air Mid 2012. The fan speed of the system is fixed to maximum of 2000rpm and is not
adjusting with increasing temperature. An SMC reset has not fixed the problem. At the moment I've to use iStat to increase the fan speed,
but otherwise the Air is crashing at about 78C. Does anybody has a similar problem?
    Kind regards

Is the problem your fan is too noisy when it is not under load?
If your fan is running too fast you can try reseting SMC.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
You can also try disabling or uninstalling SMCFanControl and then resetting SMC.
SMCFanControl should not be necessary for the normal operation of your Mac.
    P.S.  Your English is excellent.

  • MacBook Air (mid 2012) and AirPlay

I have a MacBook Air (mid 2012) and just purchased the Apple TV. I tried to connect my laptop to Apple TV but don't have the option. Is AirPlay only available on Mountain Lion?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404
Turn on home sharing in Itunes.
You would need an upgrade to Mountain Lion to be able to utilitize AirPlay with your Apple TV........UNLESS YOU USE BEAMER APP
Something to STRONGLY consider is the APP called BEAMER
    free trial
    http://beamer-app.com/
one of the most useful APPS ever created (outside of productivity APPS, that is).
Make sure your Mac can run Mountain Lion (which you can on your 2012 AIR) >  System requirements for OS X Mountain Lion
Moutain Lion can be purchased from the  Mac App Store - OS X Mountain Lion
    Lion   OS X v10.7
    Mountain Lion   OS X v10.8

  • Can I use my macbook pro mid 2012 as an external display using thunderbolt port

    Hi,
I want to use my macbook pro (mid 2012) screen as an external display for a raspberry pi using a HDMI to Thunderbolt cable, via the thunderbolt port on the macbook pro. Would this be possible? Can the macbook pro's thunder bolt port act as an input and is any additional software required?
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You are referring to Target Display mode. Target Display mode can only be used in 27-inch iMacs and iMacs with Thunderbolt, not MacBooks Pro > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
Unfortunately, you can't use the MacBook Pro as a display. It doesn't support the monitor mode

  • HT5219 I have a macbook air (mid 2012) and a thunderbolt display. Do I absolutely need to connect the power supply together with the thunderbolt cable ? I found that the screen won't wake up if only the thunderbolt connection is plugged.

    I have a macbook air (mid 2012) and a thunderbolt display (27'').
Do I absolutely need to connect the power supply together with the thunderbolt cable ?
I found that the screen won't wake up if only the thunderbolt connection is plugged. Is this normal ?

I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.
    Good luck,
