I have had experienced this more than a couple of times with purchases from the App Store.
Your product should have a support link, either on their web page or under Help. Go to there and submit a message about the fault you experience and the company should get back to you relatively quickly (not Apple, but the vendor).
I live in Australia and after purchasing my third app that didn't work I submitted a help request and in the end the company (after I sent a copy of the App Store receipt) issued me with a serial number I could use and downloaded the product from their website. This only took two days - not bad considering time diff (company was in US). Support person was very helpful.
Trust me, they want your business. If you experience a problem, chances are others are too.
I no longer purchase apps from the App Store without trialling them first. Since there are no trial apps on App store, I always go to vendors website.
While I understand Apple is not responsible for the third party apps found in the App Store, the duds that are in there sure are breeding a lot of frustration for Mac users.
Side note - my sister recently purchased Norton Antivirus for Mac - after trying to get it to open the activation window so I could enter the Product Key (for two days!) we are now in the process of getting our money back from Symantec. While you may not have any luck with the App Store, you may find you have luck with the actual vendor (software producer), get onto their tech support and you may be pleasantly surprised. -

My 6 yr old made some purchases without my knowledge how did she do that and I want to know how to get my money back.
She did it by using a standard feature of the phone (detailed in the User Guide), that you didn't turn off (again detailed in the User Guide), before giving it to a child who doesn't yet have the skills to read and understand that same User Guide, you - as the phones owner - should have read.

Please help... I've been trying to get rid of a ton of unwanted music on my iPhone 4S. The music I had marked in iTunes to sync to my phone was not the only music showing up. In my attempts to get rid of the unwanted music, I decided to delete all the music on my phone. Even after unchecking the "Sync Music" tab, there were still 3 songs left as well as my previous playlists. So, I deleted the playlists... which appears to have simultaneously deleted the playlists from my iTunes library! Also, I can not get rid of the remaining songs no matter what I try!! Please help!!!
If you keep the 4s and send back the 4 you ARE stealing their device. If the decide they want the device back, send them the device that they purchased.

iphone 4S - Windows Vista - 64 Bit (and photoshop elements 9.0) is not recognizing my iphone as a camera - therefore I cannot download pictures from my iphone. iTunes works fine with the iPhone, but I do not see it in "My Computer" when connected via USB. I downloaded Firefox 4.0 and it says to re-install the toolbar but I have not been successful in doing so. I went to the forums and tried all the suggested fixes but none worked. Can I go back to the older version? I had no trouble with that and I do not like this new version at all. I tried a system restore twice and it did not fix the problem.
I would imagine it's the MyWay Searchbar which is classified by most anti-malware scanners as adware, or even worse as spyware. I say that because I see "SmileyCentral" in your list of plugins and that's an add-on for that particular toolbar. You can disable that via Tools | Add-ons | Plugins.
There are a number of toolbars which won't work with Firefox 4 anymore due to the enhanced protection mechanisms in the browser.
Mozilla recommends that you only install add-ons from its own security site @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/?browse=featured Generally speaking, those have all been tested and approved. The exceptions are those currently under review which are marked with a yellow banner to warn users that they haven't passed Mozilla's labs yet. -
