Every iPhone model has an identifier that is in the firmware whch tells the OS what limitations there are.
So even if you install the latest version of iOS (which will have Facetime) your iPhone model number will tell iOS to deactivate facetime.
Sorry there is no fix to this.
It allows iPhones to be sold in countries that have special laws; some comuntries limit volume in earphones e.t.c.
There is theories as to if this was a legal requirement, or a mistake.
I wonder if it is a mistake why it has not been fixed yet.

Data on the phone has absolutely nothing to do with what carrier you are using. No data is stored on the SIM at all. If you have a (legitimately) unlocked phone, all you should have to do is put your new SIM in the phone and carry on.

Because an iPhone warranty is only good in the country of purchase. You will have to take it back to the USA or send it to someone there to have them take it to an Apple store.

It is supposed to shut off on its own. Some users have reported cases or screen covers that have interfered with the proper functioning of the proximity sensor. If you've removed those and cleaned the screen and still have the same problem you may have a defective proximity sensor. If you share an Apple ID, both of your phone numbers should be linked to that ID. You should be able to use your phone number as well. My wife, my daughter and I all share an Apple ID for purchases, and we each text from our iOS devices using our own iPhone numbers.
When iOS 6 came out, you were able to link the phone number with your Apple ID to use for Messages and FaceTime. You will need to sign out of messages on all devices and then start the process all over again.

You're trying to go through a proxy which isn't working. Assuming you don't normally use a proxy to connect to the internet, do this:
Tools, options, advanced, connection settings, set no proxy.
Causes for this may include anything which monitors or forwards newtork traffic on your computer (tools like fiddler2 or tor). It may also be that you are on a network which requires a proxy to access the intenet (some corporate and university networks do this).

Why does Google auto-complete fail in Firefox 17.0.1 when I type something in the search field there is no pull down list of options as I type?

When I type a word or term into the Google search bar the auto-complete fails; there is no pull down list of options for my search, only what I have completely typed in. I have to type in the complete word or term that I am searching for and then press return to get the results. I'm using a MacBook and OS X 10.7.5 Please help! This is so frustrating!
