I can't be the first to ask this question... Giga-tronics 8888A - USB ?

Hi- I've searched the board and don't see a reference to this. At least I've tried not to duplicate a previous question...
I am updating a measurement app that is developed with CVI 8.1.
All previous instrument comms have used GPIB.
App works beautifully, but needs an upgrade on an instrument.
The owner of the app now wants to add a USB comms device, a Giga-tronics 8888-A.

The device comes with the necessary .dll, .lib and .h.
However, if I attempt a static link the linker cannot find the function calls.
Next I attempted a dynamic link and successful loaded the .lib, but again the function could not be found.
In that case LoadExternalModule (pathname) was successful, but GetExternalModuleAddr (module_id, funname, &status)
returned an error. (yes, I checked spelling).
Has anyone had these problems before?
What are the typical problems I should look for with 3rd part libs?
Any typical "Fixes" to recommend?

@ ebalci - thank you for the help. This has started me down the correct path-
One new question is that the "generate dll import library" now barks at this line:
GTPM_API STATUS __stdcall GTPM_GetExtendedAveraging(unsigned long instrumentHandle, BOOLEAN *pEnabled, long *pExtAveraging);
with the error "missing parameter type".
It does not understand the BOOLEAN type. I understand the c does not have this type, so how do we ensure that the "generate dll import library" knows this type?
Since this is a third party .h, .lib and .DLL then maybe I am left to contacting giga-tronics and getting support from them. Thanks again for the help.

I came to the forum tonight, specifically looking for someone to ask this question; it was inevitable. LOL.

Does anyone know if its possible to load a AS2 swf into a AS3
swf, and then have that AS2 swf load other AS2 swfs onto different
levels (e.g. _level1, _level2, ect...). I'm trying to include a
preexisting AS2 swf that manages the loading of several other AS2
swfs onto, into a flex 2 application. I'm currently not interested
in having flex communicate with the AS2 swf, but I would like the
AS2 swf to retain its functionality which primarily includes
displaying other as2 swfs.

CAN I OVERBURN ??? (strange this is the first post asking for it...)

Hello all you Mac gurus. Today's question is:
-> can I OVERBURN? <-
For those who never heard the term: overburning is the use of high capacity cds like the TDK one I have here in front of me and which theoretically could give me up to 800MB or 90mins of space and time. But overburning also lets you get out more than the actual 700MBs out of the usual CD-Rom, sometimes even 15 to 20 MBs more.
Hardware: I have a Matshita UJ-846, aka "Superdrive" that came with my brand new PowerBook 1.67GHz 17" HD.
Apparently NOBODY asked for this before, although the word "overburn" occurs here and there in these forums.
Frankly I think this is strange - how many films or other data do you have that just do not fit on the 700MB CDs from the drugstore? And how nice could it be to get those two or three 798MB DVD rips onto one CD instead of keeping it on your harddrive?
BTW I tried DragonBurn - doesn't work - and also FireStarter - doesn't work either. Both tell me that my drive is not supported. But I would hate to give up.

PS: a question for those with historical memory: is it possible that Apple does not actively support overburning? It's a nice feature that a lot of pee-cees can use (even the really scrappy one my girlfriend has bought last year). So why on earth can WE not???

thanks for your answer. As you probably know, the term "overburn" is a very common term in the Windows world. There are several softwares out there for us Mac users that allow, at least theoretically, to overburn a disk = to put a certain percentage more of data on a CD-ROM or a DVD than what the factory declares it might contain (for example Dragonburn or FireStarter).
My issue (and thus my question) here is a different one.
I have not been able to "overburn" yet with neither of the two above mentioned softwares, even though they both declare it would be possible.
Perhaps I should have asked in a more specific way - so let's do it now:
- is it possible to overburn on a Mac tout-court? Is the Mac software AND hardware environment "open" enough to do allow this? In other words: DOES APPLE at least unofficially SUPPORT OVERBURNING?
- if it is possible, HOW do I do this, and which media can I use?
The second question is triggered by the fact that I bought several 800MB CD-ROMs (so called "High Capacity") from TDK and SONY. Both above softwares signal that my drive is theoretically capable of overburning. But once I start the process - eg. trying to burn an .avi-compressed film of 760MB on an 800MB TDK or SONY CD-ROM - both softwares say that I have only 91 MB available on the CD. Apparently the MacOS does not RECOGNIZE the CD's full capacity.
And, again, it seems strange to me that I am the first to ask for this. I presume a lot of people are having similar problems - and the existence of the two softwares I mentioned DO prove that there is a demand for this kind of feature.

Check & see how many Users accounts are in the Users folder at root of the drive, perhaps your home folder got renamed?

I am unable to print PDF's using either Adobe Reader or Safari. In Adobe Reader, I get an error message from my Cannon printer that says, "/usr.libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed". In Safari, I can only print the first page of a PDF.

To try to resolve this problem, I have done the following actions.
1 - I have run Disk Warrior.
2 - I have repaired permissions.
3 - I have deleted all plist that are either Cannon or Adobe.
4 - I have downloaded and installed the lastest versions of Adobe Reader and the Cannon printer drivers.
I am still unable to print PDF's.
In Safari, I can print only the first page. In a multipage PDF, Safari only seems to recognize the first page.
In Adobe Reader, I get an error message from my printer: "/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed".
Any help would be greatly appreicated!

Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.

Some problems can indeed be fixed this way. But working from Recovery_HD or Disk Warrior DVDs and working in the restricted environment those provide can be difficult. You can literally spend days working on this problem (while your regular work is unavailable) only to discover the old drive is unsalvageable.
There is no way to know up front whether you are facing a major Hardware failure or a minor software glitch, or something in between. Often you are forced to work from the drive you no longer trust. I continue to recommend you do this work from a different, fully functioning Mac OS X booted from a different drive.
If you have had the foresight to (as The hatter often recommends) clone your virgin install onto another drive for use in such situations, you will be able to recover from such problems in record time. If not, my previous recommendations stands:
Buy a new Drive. Or two. Install Mac OS X from scratch on a new drive, and get your Mac running again. Later, you can use the full power of Mac OS X to attempt to rescue your data, if needed. Then Zero the old drive, to see if it can hold data again reliably.
If the old drive eventually provides some needed data, and is salvageable, Merry Christmas.

Creating PDFs using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and can only see the first 10 pages in PDF even when the page numbers on bottom state 10 of 13 (or any number greater than 10).

PDFs create great, unless they should be over 10 pages and then it appears the data was converted to PDF by viewing the page numbers at the bottom of the PDF but you can only view the first 10 pages in the pdf file.

Could you please let me know what exact dot version of Acrobat 9 and OS you are using.
Have you tried repairing Acrobat from the Help menu?
Acrobat 9 is an older version and incompatible with new OS versions, so I would suggest you to try using Acrobat XI (latest version) and check for the same.
