  • Question: How can I convert Java portlets into iViews? ...

    Hi David,
    Thank you for reading this post.  Currently, I have java portlets and have
    some questions converting them to iViews.  I have the iView conditions
    listed below with my questions:
    <u><b>iView Conditions:</b></u>
    <b>1. Usage of Correct Naming Conventions:</b>  If possible, can you show me a sample of
    the correct naming conventions?
    <b>2. Single Sign On:</b>  If possible, can you please elaborate more on this and possibly provide
    an example?
    <b>3. Session State (During the entire usage of an iView, session state
    and transaction integrity must be maintained)</b>. If possible, can you please elaborate more on this and possibly provide an example?
    <b>4.  Browser Independence (An iView must work with all supported versions of at least one browser type supported by Enterprise Portal).</b>  If possible, can you list supported versions?
    <b>5.  Look and Feel (The iView must present data in the Enterprise Portal
    look and feel and allow for the different personalization options that
    are possible with the SAP Enterprise Portal).</b>  If possible, can you please elaborate more on this and possibly provide an example?
    <b>6. Error Messages (The iView must be implemented in a way that provides
    default/ relevant/ meaningful error messages)</b> If possible, can you please elaborate more on this and possibly provide
    an example?
    <b>7. No Hard-Coded Paths </b> I understand this but just to make sure, can
    you possibly provide an example?
    <b>8. Special Characters (iViews must be able to depict reserved HTML
    characters)</b>
    If possible, can you please elaborate more on this and possibly provide
    an example?
    Thank you so much for your time and look forward to your
    response.
    Thank you,
    Baggett

  • Creating Java Portlets without JDeveloper

    I am using Oracle AS 10g, and Portal. I have looked at the Portal Dev Guide (9.0.4), and have not found any information on how to create and deploy Java portlets without the use of JDeveloper. I was able to do this using earlier versions of Portal and JPDK.
    Does anyone know of any documentation that could help me with this? Thanks.

    I think this is the article you're looking for: Packaging and Deploying Your Providers.

  • How can i build a portlet with multi-record fields

    Hi
    I am building an application and some of my forms need to capture multi-records fields,for example like Developer Forms does with Grids
    Can anybody send me an example to do this?.
    Thanks

    This is what I did in our application.
    1. Created a Master Detail Form (Custom Layout and not tabular)
    and in the master block selected only one field.
    2. In the HTML layout for master removed the reference for
    that field(so that nothing will appear in the master block
    of the form).
    3. Before the update (in the Pl/SQL event handler selected the 'Save' event and written the following code to avoid updating master block).
    p_session.set_value(p_block_name => 'MASTER_BLOCK',
    p_attribute_name => 'MASTER_ACTION',
    p_value => 'None');
    doSave;
    For eg, let's say
    Master is from 'Dept' table and Detail is from 'Emp' table(with join condition Dept.dept_id = Emp.dept_id). In the master remove everything except dept_id field and in the HTML layout for master remove the reference of the dept_id field(you cannot remove this field physically from the master layout). Now the form will look like multirow form rather than master detail form but only problem with this workaround is 'Detail Action' will be present in the detail block.
    I hope this will help you.
    Thanks

  • Multiple JSPs with JSR 168-compliant Java portlet

    Hi,
    I have an application with multiple JSPs that I'm trying to run in a portlet. Looks like a JSR 168 Java Portlet is the best way to do that. I want to avoid using proprietary PDK Portlet route.
    A few questions:
    1. Is there any sample of that available with multiple JSPs?
    2. More specifically, if I have a form element in one jsp, can I specify another JSP in the action element, or do I have to use an actionURL or renderURL?
    3. Also, how can I can debug my Java portlet from JDeveloper?
    Thanks.
    - Anupam

    Hi,<br>
    I'm building a JSR 168 Java portlet. I've been trying to pass params from my JSP using actionURL in my jsp, like so:<br><br>
    <FORM METHOD="POST" ACTION="<portlet:renderURL/>">
    <TABLE BORDER="0" CELLPADDING="4" CELLSPACING="0" BGCOLOR="#eeeeee">
    <TR>
    <TD ALIGN="right">
    <FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="-1 ">User Name:</FONT>
    </TD>
    <TD>
    <INPUT NAME="userName" SIZE="12" MAXLENGTH="32">
    </TD>
    </TR>
    <TR>
    <TD>
    <INPUT NAME="action" SIZE="12" TYPE="hidden" value="Login">
    </TD>
    </TR>
    </TABLE>
    </FORM>
    <br><br>
    I find that in my processAction, I can see value of "action" parameter but not the value the user enters in the portlet for "userName".<br><br>
    Any idea why? I must be doing sthing wrong, dunno what.<br><br>
    Also, if I use renderURL instead of actionURL, I don't even see "action" getting passed. Is that expected?<br><br>
    Thanks

  • How to customize a Java Portlet

    Hi!
    I'm writing a portlet in Java, with functionality I can't get
    out of the standard Portal components.
    This portlet will be used at a couple of different places, and
    woiuld need to be differently initialized depending on where
    it's used, but I haven't found a way to do that yet.
    For a standard portlet, say a report, I can have bind variables
    that can be configured through the portlets customization menu.
    Is that possible to do with a Java portlet, and if it is, how is
    it done?
    ///Yours, Jens Carlberg

    Hi Jens,
    There are a couple of PDK articles and samples that cover this

    Finally, it's worth to check out the portlets in the Community

  • Create LifeRay portlet in JDeveloper 11g

    Hi...
    I want to create LifeRay JSF portlets using JDeveloper 11g is there any plugin or any tutorial which guides in this process?
    Thanks
    Feras

    Well, in JDeveloper 11g, you can install the Webcenter design-time extension via help->check for updates (Oracle Webcenter Framework and Services Design Time)
    Once you've installed that, you can create JSR-168 portlets using JDeveloper as documented [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_java_intro.htm#CEGDCAEE]here.
    Nothing specific for LifeRay, though. If you have specific questions, you would probably have better luck on the Webcenter forum.

  • Building and Deploying Java Portlets

    I want to build a java portlet, the typical HelloworldApp.class. I've created the provider.xml file, the HelloWorldApp.class and I'm ready to deploy the provider. I follow the orders of the "How to build a Java Portlet" document. Then I go to the "Configuring OC4J" section where it says to refer tha article "Packaging and Deploying your provider". There, in the "Packaging your Provider" paragraph, says: 2. extract the template war file..." Where is that file?? Can anybody help. It's supposed to be an easy procedure. Isn't it? The same prosedure is followed to build a jsp portlet and a servlet portlet. Please help!!!
    Best Regards
    George Drepaniotis

    hi
    template.war file is in pdk.zip.
    it is in the template.ear file. when you extract template.ear file you can see that.
    i waste very much time to find it.i understand that
    oracle help documents are so complex and not clear.
    there are many products versions.and there is no organization to productbased documentation.
    if you know how to create .war and .ear file in windows200 please announce me.
    best regards

  • Building a simple java portlet

    Hi:
    i have a java application with some forms, textareas, checkboxes, etc. i need to put this application into a portal page. do i have to rewrite all the code? what is the structure of a java portlet application? i mean, main function, renderBody, etc. Anybody can give the most simple full example of a java application portlet?
    Thx.
    Regards. Urko.

    Hi Erik,
    Thanks for your help. I found the answer. The servlet 2.3 web application version must be used instead of version 2.4 when building the application.
    Thanks Erik

  • JDeveloper, Can not build schema - Help Required

    Hi everyone,
    I am facing a peculiar problem with Jdeveloper. (10.1.3.4.4270)
    I am developing an ESB project. When referring to a XSD from within a XSD using a URL i.e. import, It's giving me error.
    Here is the sample code:_
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    <xsd:import namespace="http://xmlns.mysite.com/q/types"
              schemaLocation="http://192.168.8.10:7072/mySchemas/xmltypes.xsd" />
    ( [http://192.168.8.10:7072/mySchemas/xmltypes.xsd|http://192.168.8.10:7072/mySchemas/xmltypes.xsd] is accessible from a browser directly on the machine where project dir exists)
    When opening the XSD is design mode its showing red(error) for any element that uses types from xmltypes.xsd. When opening the XSL mapping which uses the current XSD its gives the following error:
    "Failed to open the target schema:
    Can not build schema 'http://xmlns.mysite.com/q/types' located at 'file :/C: /....../*xmltypes.xsd*'"
    +(It seems Jdeveloper is looking for the xmltypes.xsd in project dir, even though the import points to a URL)+
    The same code above works fine in Eclipse Gynamade and elements in current XSD are able to refer to types in xmltypes.xsd.
    What could be the problem. I am not finding any solution for this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for your reply.ButI had assign the dba role to the user,and could you tell me what version can build the schema.I had use the RAM 6.3.4.0.0 Complete 6.334
    Thank in advance

  • How can i build RPMs file for my own Java Application?

    How can i build RPMs file for my own Java Application?....I have my own directory that contains all Java Source files and some files that my Application required....I want to build RPMs file like a install File to Linux System, Now my OS is Linux Fedora core 1.....How can i do this?

    I think that in order to create a RPM, you'd need to
    use some C.Nope - the RPM is all about packaging and the "magic" x.spec file. You can have anything you want in the RPM, but you have to use RPM tools to build the .rpm file. One of the features is that you can also indicate (via "install" scripts) modifications to other files or the filesystem to support the installation of whatever's in the RPM.

    How can i build a java parser/interpreter
    i know java offers a tokenizer, how can i use it for build a parser or interpreter that recognize tags like this:
    <query db="db1" select="row1, row2">
    and then perform some actions

    how can i use it for build a parser or interpreter that recognize tags like this:A compiler design class would help understand the issues involved.
    Or as suggested if you are merely trying to parse XML then there are variety of existing solutions.
    Of if not XML and you already understand the principles of compiler design (formally or perhaps with experience with lexx/yacc) then you could use JavaCC

  • Can I write java/EJB in forms 6i builder

    Can I write java/EJB in forms 6i builder? As I want to know except PL/SQL, what other programming languages can be used in forms 6i

    There are a couple of different ways - You can use ORA_FFI to call out to other foreign functions. You can use the Java Importer which creates PL/SQL wrappers to call Java. You can also integrate Java on the client side (Java Beans and Pluggable Java Components).
    Info on this can be accessed from the on line help and there are a couple of good papers on OTN about the Java integration.
