I can't empty the trash. Get the message -8003 error?

I cannot empty the trash on my computer. When I try, I get the error message -8003. I've tried repairing the disk, defragging, etc. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue, to temporarily fix it go to Settings > General > Restart. When it restarts the movie should play. You have to do this for each movie for the most part.

Without providing details on exactly what you did it is hard to provide an answer. It's like me saying, "This chocolate cake I made tastes wrong," but not providing the recipe for review. Maybe it was the garlic in that particular recipe.
If iTunes is successfully using a previous library which you rename to iTunes Library.itl then that is now the current library.

Did you do a secure empty trash? SHIFT COMMAND DELETE, they will be over wriiten. Are you deleting docs as they aren't much space, videos,pictures,music use much more space.
You can move those fiels to an external "archive" drive to save them then delete them from your internal drive.

I just found a way out from the disscussion : I can't use empty trash or secure empty trash.

Not sure where these hard disk folders are located that you are referring to? Finder, Finder tool bar, Finder side bar, Desktop, Dock?
More then likely they are an alias that not longer point to the orginals, thus the question mark.
I would reboot. Delete icons if an alias and just recreate by dragging from the source. Try right click (control) click to remove.

How do you empty the trash in the Classic Environment?

There was a large file on my desktop, called ".tif" (no filename, just ".tif" and nothing else). It was apparently created by the VueScan scanning software. It was not an image I asked it to scan, it's just some sort of test image. It only appears to applications running in Classic. It does not appear to OSX applications, and the Find command in the OSX Finder can't find it.
Using Sherlock 2, running under Classic, I was able to find this file, but the only thing I could do with it in Sherlock 2 was move it to the Trash. So now, it's sitting in the Trash of the Classic environment, but OSX doesn't see it, the Trash in OSX is empty.
There is no "Empty Trash" command in Sherlock 2, or any other Classic program that I have. All of the third-party utility programs that I have for OS 9, such as Norton Utilities, DiskWarrior, etc., won't run under Classic. When I try to run them, I simply get a message, "That application is not supported by Classic."
So, how can I get rid of this file? It is only visible to the Classic environment. Are there any utility programs that run under Classic that can cause the Classic environment Trash to be emptied?

Hi, Bob. I have no way to replicate your problem and test this suggestion on my Mac, but I'm confident that it will work. Download File Buddy 8 and use its Find command to search for a file whose name is .tif, including both visible and invisible files in the search. (The "." at the start of the file's name makes it invisible in OS X). Once you find it, select it in File Buddy's hit list — make very sure you're selecting the right file and only that file — and use the Delete command in FB's File menu — not the Trash button in FB's toolbar. "Delete" will remove the file instantly and irrevocably, no matter where it resides, ignoring the usual rigmarole associated with the Trash.
File Buddy is to the Finder what Photoshop is to QuickTime PictureViewer, or Word is to SimpleText. Anything FB can't do to or with your files (and much of what it can), you should be scared of doing. But when you need it, there's no substitute.

I had the same problem yesterday with an application file that was deleted after installation of an update. I used "Put Back" to move it back to its original location, then used "Show Package Contents" to delete/empty trash for small groups of files at a time. I suppose the application file itself may have been too large to empty at one time. I hope this helps.

Can not install DVDSP4 never get the upgrade button to highlight

I was having problems with DVDSP4 so I decided to reinstall it. I trashed the DVDSP4 App emptied the trash inserted the FCS 5 install disk and the "upgrade" button does not highlight so that I can install the DVDSP app or anything else. Whats up? Now my problem is really bad. No DVDSP4 at all.

Make sure to remove receipts for the prior installation from your computer found in Library->Receipts for the application(s) (this is mani library, not at user level)

In terms of a refund, what does it say on the app's description page in the store (a lot say that refunds aren't given) ? my corecenter temp sometimes says im at 60 cel at idle....and i have the most recent update...i would rely on speedfan for temp control...core center seems to always read 3 degrees higher than speedfan on my pc....
i wouldnt be too concerned...those temps are pretty low to begin with.
