I can't import tv shows from my computer to my iTunes library, why?

I've been trying to import pre-existing tv shows from my computer to iTunes but it's not working.
I select the folder to import and it does nothing.
Am I doing something wrong?

What format are these songs in?
To add songs to your library, either double click them from a Windows Explorer window, or choose File -> *Add File to Library*.

Problem: I can't add any music from my computer to my itunes library anymore!

As I explained above, I can't add any music from my computer to my itunes mediacentre since one week. There is no error indication or any other message in which it is mentioned that the music I tried to add has not been added. It is just not in my library.
Even if I delete some music it is not possible to add music.
I just downloaded the new itunes in hope that the problem would be solved, but there is no change.
Perhaps you can help me!

Ok so you are saying that if I had photos stored there, I would have had an account. By the fact the site said it cannot create one, means I could not have photos there. That is how you can say with certainty that people in that position have no photos stored. It's that correct? If so, thank you for the clarification.

Itunes will only accept mp4 or m4v files. If the file is not this format either rerip it and convert to m4v or mp4 depending on your conversion software. You will also need to tag it explicitly as a movie so it ends up in the right place.
Personally I use Subler for that as it enables me to set The HD setting that shows up in itunes

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1415 :
You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie or TV show on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device.
So I assume that you cannot use File > Transfer Purchases to copy them to your computer (though there is no harm in trying)

You can transfer itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

I cannot add music from my computer onto my itunes library. I have tried dragging the songs, importing them, going to Add files and Add folders, copy and pasting. They just won't turn up in my itunes library.

You don't say where you are having problems. The best answer will depend upon what exactly you are trying to do. If you are trying to add one or two files, copy them to a flash drive, then drag them from the drive to an iTunes playlist. If you are trying to move your whole library that requires a different answer.
Note .wma files will work with iTunes on a PC but cannot be added to a Mac iTunes. Convert them to another format on the PC first (but I don't think you can do that if they are protected format).

Hi there. Pretty simple question, hoping to get an answer.
I have two laptops and am trying to get my tv shows from one computer to the other. I used a memory stick to transfer them to begin with, but once they're onto the other computer, they won't pull up. They don't even register. Is there a way to get them to play without having to purchase them all over again?

You can only burn TV Shows as data CD/DVD. You cannot edit the DRM protected files.

Select a song, video, or audiobook you've purchased (in your library or the Purchased playlist).
Click the Play button.
If the computer is already authorized, the item plays. If the computer has not yet been authorized, iTunes asks you to enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the song.
From what I can read it doesn't state that you need internet access to authorize.
If indeed internet access is needed then I guess that you will need to transport the computer to a location that has internet access and authorize the computer.

What happens when you try to transfer them from the iPod back to your iTunes library? Are these podcasts you originally downloaded from the iTunes Store or were they imported from outside of iTunes?

Can't import TV show from Itunes to 4th gen nano-running OSX 10.5 with Imac

This message has also been posted to the general use forum of the 4th gen nano forum.
Bought my daughter a 4th gen nano for Christmas. Also purchased a TV show from Itunes some time back.
This TV show has been in Itunes for months, and is on my 5th gen Ipod and plays fine, but will not import to the 4th gen nano.
Here is what I have done so far:
1.Plugged the nano into the computer, highlighted nano, clicked TV show tab, clicked the TV show we wanted to sync, then clicked the sync button.
2.I downloaded a sample movie into Itunes from the apple support site, and it won't import into the nano.
3.After researching, I downloaded and reinstalled Itunes and Quicktime both.
Nothing seems to be working.
Funny thing is, there was one music video that imported from Itunes to the nan when I first registered and set it up, and it plays fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

My 13 yr. old daughter solved this problem, and successfully imported the TV show to her Ipod.
She tells me she has no idea how she did it, she just did it.
So, although I guess my problem is solved, I'd still love to know what the answer is.

I've had an iphone for a whlie now and its been synced to another computer. i've finished syncing it to my new computer but can't seem to import my songs from my phone into my itunes library. what do i need to do?

i've had my iphone4 for several months now and it was synced up to a family computer. i have just gotten a toshiba satellite somthing or other and i have synced my phone to it already. my problem is as soon as i disconnect the phone i can no longer play the music that i bought from itunes on my phone and i can't seem to import any of them into my itunes library. how can i fix this?

On the new laptop, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
