I cannot pull up pictures from iphoto. I see them but when I click on them, I get an exclamation mark inside a triangle
I cannot open pictures from iphoto. I see them but when I click on them, I get this exclamation point inside a triangle
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Took some pictures they showup in my photos but when i click on them all i see is white?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

How do I move a picture from editing in camera raw to photoshop? When I click "open image" I get a checker board in photochop
Sindbad. A suggestion, to let us know all the specifics of your machine: go the the help menu, and select System Info...
Copy the contents, and paste it in an answer there.
You might want to remove your serial number.
Thanks to that we will know: the exact version of Photoshop, your memory, where Photoshop is installed, the graphic card and its drivers, and also if you are using third party plug-ins.
Some other users reported that when launching Photoshop holding down the shift key (this disables the plug-ins), he was able to see the images.
The solution in that case is to search for updated plug-ins (or to report the plug-in manufacturers that their plug-ins causes issues in Photoshop. -
I cannot access the itunes store. When I click on store I get the iTunes 10 (free download) page. It won't go away or allow me to search. I can play music in my library. How do I fix this?
Try this,
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now. -
I am trying to print from iphoto to my printer. When I click print on under File tab it says that a theme cannot be found and that a theme needs to be intalled? Why is this window popping up and how I install a "theme" on iphoto?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -
I-photo: I used 2 cameras to take pictures on a trip --- i have put the pictures from both cameras into an album --- when i click on view and then sort by date, the pictures do not sort by date --- any ideas on how to get the pics sorted by date?
Select all the photos that you need to change, then click the "Photos" menu and choose "Adjust Date and Time".
If you add a year, it will adjust all the photos that you selected by adding a year (so if you accidentally select one of the photos that already has "2012", that will change to "2013"). -
I have thumbnails in my iPhoto library but when I click on them the screen is black
I have thumbnails on my iPhoto library but when I click on them the screen is black. I have had my computer in 2-3 times for this issue and the library is corrupt, or so I was told. This doesn't make sense since the photos are obviously in my library some where. Any thoughts what is going on?
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired. -
I am trying to open PDF files from safari, but when I click on them they open in a separate window and the information is encrypted. Any ideas on how to get them to open them in Adobe? Any help please!
The pdf is loading as html code. If you save it, it will download as :
605124.pdf.html
Change the extension to .pdf
And it opens and works perfectly, I just tested it:

How can i remove items from list that have been deleted when i click on them it keeps showing empty
how can i remove items from the list that have been deleted when i click on them it keeps showing folder empty
Actually, Reader SHOULD keep showing documents that no longer exist, I disagree. It's no big deal, and people will quickly realise why they can't open the file. They open more files, the old ones move off.
The REASON why it should not check is that checking whether a file exists can take a long time when things aren't good. For instance if a file server goes down, or a memory card is unplugged. That in turn would mean delays opening the File menu, and I've seen some software that can sit there for several minutes. That would really give people something of which to complain... -
how do i access the data stored on my time capsule? for example, if i try to view a photo, i get the option to "view with iphoto" but when i click on "view with iphoto" nothing happens. i'm having similar trouble openning up movies, music, etc. it appears as though the files exist / saved on the time capsule (because i can see how much storage they consume), but i can't open them. thanks!
Unfortunately, Apple removed the feature to "browse backups" in Time Machine backups of iPhoto a few years ago.
You have to restore the entire iPhoto library to a separate location to be able to "see" it, and then choose the specific images that you want use.
For complete details, see #15 in Pondini's excellent support document Time Machine -- FAQ. Check the information in the pink box there.

Hi,
If this is in iChat 4 first check that the Pics you are trying to Send are "Owned" by you.
Find the Pic and click on it to highlight.
Use the APple key and i together (Get info)
In the panel near the Bottom see if in Owner and Permissions you are the Owner.

Once I click a picture in Iphoto this pops up.
I can clearly see the picture when its in a thumbnail. I have really Important pictures of my whole family and I would be so devastated if I lost them. I didn't mess around with Iphoto at all. All I ever did was upload pictures to it and one day this started happening to ALL my pictures on there.Sorry,
your screenshot is not showing.
But an exclamation point usually signifies, that iPhoto cannot access the original image files.
Where is your iPhoto library located? On your system drive, or do you keep it on an external drive?
What version of iPhoto are you running?
Have you installed or updated any software lately? Run any cleaning applications, like MacKeeper, CleanYourMac?
The first thing to try would be to rebuild your iPhoto library. assuming you are using iPhoto '11, see this post by Old Toad:

IPhoto shows an exclamation mark inside a triangle when trying to view the image
When trying to access the photos, a triangle with an exclamation mark pops up and I am unable to drag or view the photo.
The triangle looks like thisThat means, that iPhoto is unable to access the original image files. Either the original files are missing, or your iPhoto library is corrupted.
What happened, before this problem first occurred? Did you update or upgrade software? Run any cleaning application? Move your iPhoto library to a different location? has the size of your iPhoto Library changed? Is your iPhoto Library still large enough to hold all the photos? Which version of iPhoto and MacOS X do you have?
Before you try anything else, make a backup copy of your iPhoto library, but don't overwrite any recent backup you currently have.
After you made the backup copy, try if the iPhoto Library First Aid Tools can reestablish the connection between the thumbnails. To run the First Aid Tools, hold down the key combination alt/options and command while launching iPhoto. Keep holding down the keys, until you are seeing the First Aid panel. Then select "Rebuild Database" from the panel.
If that does not help, try "Repair permissions" as well. Then post back with more details.
