I cannot set up my e-mail accounts on my iTouch.

I have tried several times and with my three different yahoo email addresses and the ipod always says my password or user name is incorrect. I would really like to fix this problem. I have double checked my account information through yahoo and I have tried every spelling of my name. Any ideas?

I have a user whose BB is set up on the BES server. She also had a Yahoo account set up, but then it stopped working. I then wiped her Blackberry and removed ther BES account from the BES server and re-added it. After wiping the Blackberry I reactivated it to the BES server. I tried setting up the Yahoo account but it did not work. It said "Invalid email address or password. Verify your email address and password. If the error persists contact yahoo.com". I tried using two different Yahoo accounts and it both gave me the same error. I am able to access those Yahoo account via browser and was able to set them up on my iPhone. I also tried it on a Blackberry Curve. Is there something wrong with Yahoo on Blackberry's?

I'm having a similar problem with my Rogers Yahoo account. I can set up emails, but there is no option for contacts. It used to work............it may be since the last OS update?

Setting up an e-mail account

Probably a dumb question, but I'm following the steps to set up a new e-mail account on the iTouch. I have entered my account information (user name, email addy, password). At this point I'm supposed to tap "Save". I cannot see anything marked "Save". All I have is "Next" which is greyed out, and "Cancel", which clears out all the entries and closes the session.. How do I save the settings?

I found part of the problem - didn't realize I had to be connected to the computer. However, when I do that and enter all of the account information and save it, the account still cannot access my mail. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

In Mail>Preferences>Accounts tab>Account Information tab - from the 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):' drop-down menu select 'Edit SMTP Server List...', choose the server you want to edit from those listed, click on the Advanced tab. Does that give you the option you're after?

I think I used to have a Mail account however I could not remember the password when I tried to turn it on. I decided to delete the account completely and to start again. How do I set up a new mail account with a new email address and a new password??
I can see how you create a new mail account but it then asks for an email and password so that doesn't help. I really didn't think it would be a hassle!

You first need to set up a new User Name and Password with your Internet Service Provider (ISP); that is, whoever provides you with Internet access, such as Comcast, AT&T, etc in the US. Alternately you can go on the Internet and set up a new email Account with a new User Name and Password with a public company such as Google's "Gmail" or Microsoft's "Hotmail". Once you have set up your new Account with them, THEN you enter that information into Apple's "Mail" for it to send and receive emails for your new outside Account.

I have iBook G4 using OS X. I've had it for over a year, but I've never set up multiple e-mail accounts, but now my kids are asking for their own e-mail addresses. There must be directions on how to do this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Any help in steering me in the right directions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Karen.
You can create multiple email accounts with Mail with or without the same email account provider.
With the same provider is possible only if each account has its own user name.
You can create/access multiple email accounts that share the same incoming mail server and the same password as long as each account has its own user name.
An account's user name is usually the portion of the email address in front of the @ sign only but with some providers it is the entire email address.
Multiple email addresses with the same provider that share the same user name, incoming mail server and password as a primary email account are what is called an alias or aliases.
An alias email address to a primary account/address can be accessed with Mail under the primary account but not as a separate account with Mail.
If I haven't completely confused you, let me know.
I agree with Matt and strongly suggest/recommend that you don't allow your kids (regardless their age) or anyone else regular access to your Mac under your computer login admin account.

If you haven't set up a mail account, it will probably ask you if you want to set one up, but here's how I do it.
Press command-, and that will take you to preferences.
Up near the top click the "Accounts" tab
Click the plus button that is located at the lower left corner.
Enter your name, email address, and password.
Click enter then click continue
Set the account type to POP or IMAP. Whichever one you want is fine as long as it works with your email service.
Don't change the next security settings. Click continue.
Enter something for the description. Make sure that the "Use Athentication" checkbox is checked. Enter your password and click continue.
Click continue you might have to go through one of the security settings again. Click continue.
An account summary will come up. Click "Take account online". Then click create.
You have added your account to Mail.

Is there any chance your AOL account has been hacked? Check it to make sure your password is still what you think it is.
Also make sure caps lock isn't on when typing your password.

I cannot log into my yahoo mail account from my iphone4. The password does not have any special characters. On my PC there is no problem.
Also cannot configure Add Yahoo mail. I woould get a message, stating "Verification required. Log into your Yahoo! account at www.yahoo.com". when I attempt this I get "Invalid ID/Password".

Tried eveyrhting and this was the way that fixed it for me --
if you are having an issue adding the yahoo mail account on an iphone/ ipad / ipod.
In the app store download the yahoo mail app for iphone (it works on ipads and ipods as well.. but there's only an iphone version). After downloading it - open and sign in. It's likely it will say that your yahoo account is 'locked' due to suspicious activity - follow the prompts to unlock it.
Now add the yahoo account under the ipad mail settings.
It should work in the regular ipad, iphone, ipod mail application now.

The default MS Exchange ActiveSync port is 443 but due to security reason it had been changed.
Under this situation how to set up the iPad Mail account?
I could not find out the port modification area in iPad account settings.
Or any other apps are suitable for multiple accounts within 1 domain?
That means i can use this app for more than 1 email accounts within 1 exchange server.
I had tried eMailGanizer. It could allow you to modify the port number but if you need to send email you still need to set up the account in Apple mail first.
I tried Outlook Mail but could not allow multiple accounts within 1 domain.
I tried Mail Access 2010 but it could not display the emails in the server.

using Outlook.com I just deleted an email
    by clicking the Trash icon that appears
      when hovering near an email subject
        in the list of emails.
Then I clicked the Send/Receive button
in Apple Mail.
The email disappeared from the Inbox listing
in Apple Mail.
The email is listed in the Deleted Folder
within Apple Mail.
The email also appears in Outlook.com
within the Deleted Folder
I'm not seeing an equivalent operation in Outlook.com
to perform the Erase Deleted items
    such as Apple Mail provides..
There was momentarily a "Sweep to Delete"
animation that appeared and is now gone..
Pomme is correct.. by selecting "Erase Deleted Items"
within Apple Mail does not clear the Deleted Folder
    when the email was first deleted using Outlook.com
Now I'm seeing further synch problems in that deleting in Outlook.com
The emails disappear from Apple Mail Inbox,
    but do not appear within the Apple Mail Deleted Folder..
      (as it did with the first message I deleted using Outlook.com)
Yes.. there is some synchronizing problems..
I just exited Apple Mail, and restarted it, synched
and now all messages deleted from Outlook.com
    appear within Apple Mail Deleted Folder..
For Outlook.com the equivalent operation to Erase Deleted Items
Is to click the Trash icon next to the emails
    within the Deleted Folder..
Moral of the story is for Apple Mail
periodically select Erase Deleted Items
and for Outlook.com
    periodically look in the Deleted Folder
      and delete those emails (that you already deleted)
        a second time..
