I cannot view my Flash slideshows in Firefox but I can in Safari. Why?

I have created some Flash multimedia packages for my company. You can view them on a PC fine, and you can view them on a Mac, but only if you view them in Safari with a FlipMac4 WMV installed. But I cannot view in Firefox on my Mac and I do not understand why. Here is just one link to my Flash work: http://english.cri.cn/6566/2010/04/23/902s565015.htm
I cannot even see the Flash file, let alone play the audio or watch the slideshow.

That is because you only have code for IE with an ActiveX classid. Firefox ignore object tags with a cklass ID.
Use this code instead:
<pre><nowiki><object data=" /mmsource/flash/2010/04/23/heaven.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="OBJECT1" height="600" width="600"></nowiki></pre>

  • On my new imac I cannot sign onto Google maps in firefox but I can on Safari. What do I do? Bert

I have an igoogle account. I use it for the igoogle homepag and for gmail. They work fine. However, when I try to sign into google maps it always goes back to the sign in page. If I go to Safari I can log into Google maps just fine. There must be a setting in Firefox I need to change. I have done the "about:config" suggested in Firefox help but the settings are PK.

Mine is a similar problem with Firefox 3.6.18 on XP, service pack 3. Until a few days ago I could click on the Google Maps icon in the Google Tool Bar and I would be straight in. Now I am asked to sign in but this does not work.
I have found a work around but it is inconvenient. If I open Google Calendar from the tool bar, logged in straight away and then go to Account Settings - My Products and click on Maps I can then access My Places and do all I want with my maps. All other Google products that I use log straight in as does Google Maps in Windows IE8.

  • For emails and I cannot now access my contacts thro Firefox but I can through Windows Explorer which I dont want to do.)

when I go into Xtra yahoo to send an email I cannot access my contacts. I could but now I cant. Telecom NZ cant fix it they said its a Mozilla problem

Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.
Incidentally, does the background (the purple color) look the same as the one in the screenshot when you access your Yahoo account? Yahoo has recently upgraded their mail program and it would appear that this is now the default color. If yours is a different color and you haven't modified it yourself, then the problem may possibly be related to the old version.

  • Cannot print any internet sites from Firefox but I can print from IE so I guess I will be back to using IE

I have been using Firefox for a long time and always update; however yesterday I noticed when I was on Amazon I could not print out confirmation. Went to various other sites, my bank, smart computing magazine, etc. and could not print. Got a message that said: Out of Paper, put paper in photo tray. I then went to IE and was able to print out anything I wanted. I always liked Firefox but I believe I have to change since I can't find an answer to my problem. Obviously my printer works if I can print when I use the IE browser. I notice other people have this problem also. I spend a lot of time searching on the internet.

Try the '''''reset''''' described here: <br />

  • I cannot login to Yahoo mail on my Mac with firefox, but I can with Safari.

I am running Firefox 3.6 on Mac. I have had no problems until yesterday when it stopped allowing me to login to Yahoo mail. I can login using Safari on the same laptop, so I know there is no problem with my mail account or computer. When I look at the error message it says it looked for "*" but could not find it. How do I get "*" and if I do will that fix the problem?

This may also be a problem specific to Firefox 26 + Mavericks.

Have you tried deleting your emails cookies (see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Deleting+cookies this] for help) and [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache clearing your cache]? That will probably help.

  • Why cannot I download pdf's with Firefox when I can with Safari? I just see the front page of the PDF

All I see is the front page of the pdf. It does not download the full file. It works with Amazon

Try to clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    * "Clear the Cache": Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    * "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    Hello Allen.
I don't think Firefox supports the vCard format by default... But you may want to try this extension, as I think it's what you want:

    I hope this helps.

  • I cannot post in the google adsense forum but I can using IE

I cannot post in the google adsense forum but I can using IE, I was told to check my firefox settings.

I assume that you you tried tapping and holding down on the document and the keyboard would not pop up and the insertion point did not appear.
If you want to start with a clean slate, tap the Documents button in the upper left corner. When in thumbnail view you can tap the edit button in the upper right - find that blank document that you just closed - tap on it and then tap the trash can in the upper left to delete it.
To start with a new document - tap the + button in the upper left corner and tap Create New Document.

The latest version of Firefox has a built-in PDF viewer so you might try updating your version to see if this gets enabled. There might also be a conflict between this feature and any Adobe Reader plugins you might have installed, so uninstalling these plugins might restore the functionality of the Firefox browser.

I found an answer to this on another page (I was having the same problem) This worked for me:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.

  • Images Viewable in Firefox But Not In Explorer, Safari, Chrome.

I have a coldfusion page with images. The images are called up dynamically from my Mysql database. The image field with my database has the datatype "char(100)". All that is stored in that database field is the file path to the folder of which the image is stored which is: \photos\RSL\1.jpg.
On my webpage, the image placeholder looks like this:
    <a href="#Unit_Info.comphoto1#"><img src="#Unit_Info.comphoto1#" alt="" name="1" width="98" height="73" /></a>
This images display just fine on Firefox, But Not In Explorer, Safari, & Chrome. These latter three just show a broken image. Could there be something wrong with either my coldfuson or Mysql file path where each of the letter three browsers are trying to access?
I'm running Coldfusion 9 on my local machine, using OS Window 7 Professional.

When I hard coded the file path it worked. I checked the source code and saw no white space. I even went to each browser's options dialog box to make sure that the show image options were checked. It may be my coding. In my image folder there are categories  of other folders within folders that have images of which Coldfusion calls up whenever the browser needs it. Could that be the problem? Should I have all of my 300 images in one folder?

First thing I'd try would be to hard code the expected value and see if that works.  If it does, I'd look at the html source code from the problematic browsers and see if there is any unexpected white space.
