Anyway, about the $30.00 Upgrade fee.... I ordered Nokia 822 on Verizon website, I chat with customer service and specifically asked my charges. Nobody told me there was an upgrade fee. My point is "PLEASE tell me upfront how much it will cost me to get a new phone!!!" I don't like surprise charges. I don't have late payment with you guys. See I have to budget our bills and that 30 dollars will hurt my family this month because that's our GAS money to bring my child to school. If I knew then that there was an upgrade fee then I will not be so upset. Hope Verizon train there customer service well to help customers better....

    Thank you for your advice. I followed your directions, but came up with the same results. However, I did discover that whenever I open up the iPhoto Library that is already existing on my MacBook a certain set of pictures shows up. But then when I open up the iPhoto Library from the Hard drive another set of pictures shows up. BUT not ALL of my pictures are showing up on the iPhoto Library from the hard drive. At least the last two years of pictures are not showing up?! Actually, it appears that all the pictures are there from when I started using iPhoto about 5 years ago up until around the time that I got my iMac desktop computer and started using that (2 years ago). I have noticed that more recent videos I have made are showing up in a folder on the hard drive, but will not appear when I open up iMovie?! Any ideas on how to access my pictures from the last 2 years off of the hard drive???

    I was originally on your side in the discussion of batteries, however, after being contradicted by Meg St._Clair and others I took a leap of faith and took their advice with my Apple devices.  Much to my chagrin their advice has proven true.
    Long story short I have not noticed any differences in my battery life by changing my charging habits to what is convienant over what is more in line with conventional battery myths.

  • Mail sending Reply, but not saving reply in thread.

    Over the past week an entirely new problem has cropped up.
    When I send a reply to somebody, once in a while the reply message I send does not show up in the thread.
    It seems like it goes out... making the mail out swoosh sound, but there is no message that gets tacked to the replied to message.
    The reply does not show up in sent messages, drafts, or recovered messages.
    There simply is no record of my replies.
    This doesn't happen with every message so it is sporadic.
    Some of the messages seem to go out because people reply that they received the message when I start a new message asking about it.
    Others seem to have disappeared.
    I am wondering if this is happening with others.
    It seems to have happened since the last mail upgrade which I think happened in the last week or few weeks if I remember correctly.
    Because of this I think I need to abandon mail and use the web interfaces for my mail programs which seem to be functioning correctly.
    I am using Mountain Lion 10.8.5.
    None of my mail settings has changed.
    None of my mail preferences or passwords has been changed in any way.
    One day it was working.... then replying became a hit or miss as to whether I could see it after I sent it and possibly whether other people received my reply or not.

    Thanks for discovering this issue being connected to drafts. I have trouble with this for a couple of months as well.
    Since you assume it to be connected to "drafts", I suggest to deselect "Store draft messages on the server" for your IMAP-Account. I just did this for myself, to see if it helps, and can't give you results yet. Maybe you just wanna try simultaneously. I guess, the reason for our problem could me some messy communication between Mail and the server, where one party get's confused.

  • Allowing the creation of users but not letting them be assigned to the Administrators group?

    I am using Project Server 2013 on-prem, with Project Server Security. We have defined a local administrator group that is intended to allow for a limited set of permissions to local administrators. The reason for this is that we need the individual offices
    in a global company to be able to add their own users, but we want the ability to change configuration of Project Server to be controlled centrally.
    However I have found that once I give Manage Users and Groups permission to a user in this Local Administrator group they can then simply add themselves to the Administrator group anyway.
    Setting policy and training is not proving effective, hence I need to limit this. The desire is for a group that can create users and add values to lookup tables, but not add themselves to the Administrator group.
    Is this possible?

    You could still take the approach of having your helpdesk assign the permissions and remove the manage users and groups permissions from the local administrators in an office (as opposed to switching to the different permission model).
    I'm curious how training and policy isn't working -- you've asked (told) the users not to add themselves to the administration group and yet they do it anyway? Are they doing this so they have permissions to perform some other tasks?

  • It will let me scroll but not let me click on ANYTHING! I can not close it! Help

  • Spotlight appears but not let me type

    Hi!
    Sometimes I hit CMD+Space and Spotlight searchfield appears with a blinking cursor. But whenever I start to type, I type in the application I had recently open.
    I'm not able to click into the Spotlight searchfield (it doesn't let me - when I click - nothing happens).
    So Spotlight is useless for me.
    After a reboot it works again for some time .. then it stops with the same behaviour.

    Boot in Safe Mode
    Then go to ~/Library/Preferences
    Move the com.apple.loginwindow.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Now go to the Apple menu > Restart.

  • ITMS - sharing music but not letting user purchase?

    Hi, I'm helping a friend who's got an iMac and just bought a Macbook. She's transferred everything to her laptop, and now is planning on letting her kids use her iMac. She wants them to be able to listen to the music on her iMac's library (mostly iTMS purchased, and a bunch was purchased by her for them), but doesn't want them to be able to purchase music using her account. The kids, moreover, want to be able to use the iTMS to buy their own music and add it to the existing library on the iMac. Any ideas on how to set this up? She's not sharing with any other machines or users, so she's still plenty within the legal sharing limit on her music store purchases, I'd think.

    This works pretty well for Music but doing repeated 'Add to Library...' of the top level 'iTunes Music' folder seems to create duplicate library entries for Podcasts, which is a bit of a pain.
    I've written a script to remove these duplicates but it would be nicer if Podcasts were handled in the same way as the music tracks.
    NB. You can avoid it happening by doing 'Add to Library...', going into the shared 'iTunes Music' folder and selecting all the folders in there (A) then do -click on the 'Podcasts' and 'Movies' to deselect them. Then click 'Choose'.
    But this is hardly pretty - as you will have to individually add the Movies/Podcasts you DO want to add.

  • Thunderbird can reply but not send new mail!!!

    I'm experienced thunderbird and computer user, baffled by this.
    I created a new account at my website host for email.
    It receives fine, it REPLIES fine, it hangs on send.
    100% repeatable.
    On send, it appears to send then hang on copy to sent folder step.
    My sent folder is a nested folder Inbox/sent, because my website hosts just thinks thats the way it should be. I have no reason to think that is related except its different than my other accounts.
    I can manually copy to sent folder fine. Have varied the setting for save files to in the account, with no effect.
    I have settings to leave message in same folder on replies, so suspect it cant copy to sent,
    even though it has no other similar issues.
    Once it hangs, the mail sub-window is dead. It wont send it again, closing it makes a warning dialog.
    So, I assume this is some weird interaction with my mail host, but I have no way to diagnose further.
    It baffles me why it would make a difference if its a reply or a new email.

    That "change" tells Thunderbird that your imap server is strange in that the special folders hang off the inbox on the server. ie inbox\send, inbox\drafts etc. The root of the folder in "inbox." not the more common " " this is what you replaced with inbox.
    What is generally simply not considered is that the mail server runs IMAP server software. This is not a single IMAP program. Like word processors there are multiple "brands" and each one has it's own setup and its own strengths. So when writing a program that connects to an imap server there needs to be setting to cope with all the possibilities. You have just changed your settings to cope with the possibility that the people setting up the server decided the personal namespace was inbox.
    BTW I think you will find the messages were going out. The SMTP sending process is separate to the saving of the mail to the sent folder.

    This used to work on my Mac using Firefox and Mac Mail but now it doesn't. Opening regular links are unaffected. I can still click and open easily. This only happens when I try to use the feature, to open links behind mail. When I right click nothing happens. Nothing is opened.

    Thank you for the post. There are literally SEVENTEEN options in the menu when you right click on a Recent Contact but Skype (Microsoft really, and my recent former employer, in the interest of full disclosure), is spammers best friend as it hides the REPORT ABUSE option inside the BLOCK option making people have to hunt for answers. Every new release of Skype under Microsoft has seen the quality of the audio/video get better (maybe because our laptops and bandwidth ar so much better anyway than a few years ago) but the UI and UX have goten worse and worse. And to this day anyone can associate your email address with any Skype ID you did NOT create, and even in 2015 Skype does not send a validation email and just associates [e-mail removed for privacy and security] to Tom, **bleep**, Harry, Scammer, Spammer, Jerk, and any user ID you would not want to be associated with.   • PDF images that magnify when clicked? (but not in Preview)

    I'm viewing a 3-page PDF document received from elsewhere, using Acrobat 7.0 Standard on a MacBook running OS 10.4.11. The document contains 4 figures. When I run the pointer (the "hand") over 2 of these images, a short horizontal bar with a short arrow pointing downward from it appears inside the hand. Clicking once significantly magnifies the size of the image, up to full screen or full window width. What happens with further clicks is a bit confusing, but there is no further magnification, and eventually a demagnification back to the initial size.
    Nothing like this happens with the other two figures, and nothing like this happens if I view the document in Mac Preview. Only limited information on how this PDF document was created is available, except that maybe PowerPoint was involved at some stage.
    Any ideas as to what's going on here?

  • Why do my margins get cut off when I right click print, but not when I open my document and print?

    When I right click print (without opening the document) my margins get cut off, but if I actally open my pdf document and click print, it will print just fine.  This only happens when the document has print that is close to the edge.
    I am using Adobe 10.1.2 with Windows 7.

    As for your comment on this being my first Mac, and the program issue, you misunderstood. Yes the eMac is in fact my first, personally owned, Mac computer other than the original Apple II series floppy fed PC, in which me and my father owned. The only other Apple/Macintosh computer I had experience on was my father's 13" MacBook Pro, and 20" iMac (both ran OSX Tiger 10.4.11, just as the one I have know runs). The iMac was upgraded to Snow Leopard due to our need for better picture/video/audio editing software such as that of Adobe, and the Macbook Pro was sold because of a business that was started being siphoned out of money. I purchased the eMac from a small business based off of eBay. It had the majority of OSX Tiger software, only missing minor programs like Photobooth. Other than that, it had no wireless software like BlueTooth, Wi-Fi capabilities, wireless sync, ect... But alas, when you buy a Apple/Mac computer, you must take a few cutbacks when purchasing it (even refurb.) for around $120.00 including taxing, shipping, handling, ect... I purchased nearly all of my software from co-workers and friends who had an extra key, or I would receive the software disc from them, and buy a key. The only "illegal" thing I had on the computer was music I had downloaded from LimeWire. I have never, and will never, trust any software coming from a torrent download site.

    My wife and I both have iPhone 4. Starting yesterday she can reply to texts that I start but if she creates a new text to me I don't recieve it. I've only gone as far as doing a hard reset on both phones with no change. Everything else ( mail and phone) is working as far as I can tell. Any ideas are appreciated.

    I deleted and re-entered my contact info and it still didn't work. I went into preferences>messaging and noticed that receive at was set to my email and when I tried to change it to my phone "error" was next to my phone number. So I reset my network preferences and then got a message saying that starting imessaging failed and to try again, so I did and now it's working. Strange. Thanks for the help.
