I clicked "locate" when prompted, now the track won't play at all even from the hard drive though it's listed in iTunes. Can anyone help?

I was prompted to "locate" a track, clicked yes, and now the track won't play no matter where I play it from. I've put it on the desktop, added it to library, tried everything - is there an equivalent "reconnect media" function like in Final Cut Pro? I'd be grateful for any help thanks

Will it play in Quicktime player?  If not it may be corrupt and will have to be reloaded from the original source.
