I created a password verification function failure

I created a function in sys to check complexity of passwords, however if I apply this to any oracle accounts (profile), my users can't sign on to any apex application.
I get:
ORA-28003: password verification for the specified password failed ORA-20001: Password same as or similar to user ORA-06512: at "APEX_030200.WWV_FLOW_SECURITY", line 248 ORA-06512: at "SYS.WWV_FLOW_VAL", line 55 ORA-06521: PL/SQL: Error mapping function
Error ERR-10480 Unable to run authentication credential check function.

What is your database version? If it's older than 10.2.0.3, you won't be able to use the profile function in conjunction with Database Account authentication in apex.

If a shell script is enforcing password complexity, you would have to guarantee that no application ever did a password change without calling the script. That seems highly unlikely. Someone will want to change their password using SQL*Plus. Someone will want to change their password via TOAD or some other GUI. Someone will want to change their password using some other front end. A password verification function in the database will be invoked in all of these cases. A shell script will not. Unless you have an exceedingly expensive consultant that is an expert in shell scripting who has no experience whatsoever with PL/SQL and unless you can guarantee that no one today or in the future will want to use any of the established APIs to change their password rather than calling the shell script, use a password verification function.
Of course, if you want to get really technical, you could create a password verification function that, in turn, calls out to an operating system shell script. That would be a hugely overcomplicated architecture but it can be done.

I am trying to change the SYS password and I am getting the following error:

ORA-28003: password verification for the specified password failed

If you have run the utlpwdmg.sql file, it creates a password verifier function. It is highly restrictive, and once run it modifies the default profile, assigned to SYS user too. Take a look at the file, so you have an idea on how restrictive this can be, among other things, it requires a minimum lenght, a combination of char, numeric and special characters, it must differ by a certain number of characters from the last password and it cannot be equal to login, amon several other things.
If you think this function is too restrictive for your particular needs, you can create one of your own, based on this proposed, just create another password verifier function, same interface and created under the SYS schema.
You may also create another profile and let sys at that other profile, so it is not affected by the password restrictions. Just tailor this to your particular requirements.

Hi, I need to create a password field on the JTabbedPane. I can create a TextField and setEchoChar to make it a password field. However it is not working well with the rest of the JComponents. Can I do this on a JTextField? I could not find the functionality.

If you were to think laterally about this, you could also create encrypted archives for just those folders or files you were interested in to minimise the possible harm. Similar to the disk images Magnus suggested, but slightly less trouble. Modern Macs are very fast at unarchiving these files so you can work on them then archive them again without too much trouble.
I am a great fan of those tiny USB harddrives and thumbdrives, which easily slip into your pocket so you can take them with you.
My backup consists of a set of three 4Gb USB thumbdrives for my documents and 3 differently colored USB harddrives for my larger material.
If your work is on these, you simply detach them from your computer and keep them locked up or on your person.
Nobody will be able to access those without bailing you up.
… And of course you can use a combination of any and all of the above suggestions.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.

Another thing you can do is to set your Homepage to a website that you have a password logon saved for and use the Master Password feature. It won't completely stop someone else from using the internet but it will slow them down or make it appear they need a password for access.

Error while trying to create a Universe on Function Module in IDT

We are using BO 4.1 Support Pack 2. I am trying to create a Universe on Function Module. I created data foundation layer, but when I right click on the table and click on 'Show table values' it doesn't bring any data (and there is data available in that table). When I click on 'Check Integrity' it says 'Missing Primary key'. Please see the screen shot. Please let me know if any has any idea and I am doing something wrong? I really appreciate it.

What type of database/application are you trying to connect? Are you getting any error message?
Missing primary key message is just a warning and is not related to the issue.

Can no longer open anything without finder asking for password verification, but not accepting password

I plugged in an external DVD/CD burner but finder won't let me use it, and a message comes up saying "Finder wants to make changes, type your password to allow this' however, when I type my password it will no longer accept it and has an error code -128 message come up. I can also now not do anything on the desktop without the same finder password verification request happening. Have tried restarting the computer twice with no luck. Running system OSX10.8.2

This might be a rare case in which Repair Permissions in Disk Utility is worth a try.

Creating a password to protect a hyperlink from being executed in a PDF, that was created in InDesign

Does anyone know a way to create a password to protect someone from clicking a hyperlink made in InDesign, that will be viewed as a PDF.
I have to make file with hyperlinks, but we may not want just anyone to be able to click on the destinations, without putting in a password?
IS this possible?

OooooKaaaaay. If the pages are in the same PDF, how do you expect to hide them from ordinary navigation/scrolling? Disabling the hyperlink seems like a waste of time if anyone can still page through the document. And if you have a way to require authentication at the page level (I have no idea how that would be done), you don't need it at the hyperlink stage.
