I currently use a Time Capsule for my wi-fi (2008). I would like to extend its range. While there are many boosters that can do the job, what is the best option? How is Airport Express as an option?
The Time Capsule (TC) can have its wireless network extended by another TC, an 802.1n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), or 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn).
If your TC is a simultaneous dual-band version, only another TC or AEBSn will be able to extend both radios. The AXn can only support one radio (2.4 or 5 GHz) at a time.

Go back to that article, ignore the instructions for updating it wirelessly, scroll down, and follow those for updating it from iTunes on a computer.

Airport Express does not give IP when using windows.
I can connect on the Apple sidewith out problem, when swiching over to the XP partion my computer can not get the IP address, system shows strong signal but can not get the IP ?? Tried the window repair setting, message comes back contact service provider who in turn can not help!! Can anyone recomend solution to get it running?

Should be and mostly is.
If the settings did not get accepted (sometimes this happen) reset the Express to factory default with a paperclip.
But first check the settings.

Apple can do nothing about spam coming from other sites unless you're using MobileMe or iCloud as your mail server, in which case they do some spam filtering but have to be very conservative about what they block. If you're referring to receiving emails from Apple, log into your Apple ID account:
Manage your Apple ID account
and go to the Language and Contact Preferences. You can remove yourself from Apple's mailing lists there.

I would like to stotre several movies on an external disk drive connected to Airport express through USB port. With my IPAD, I am able to use the WiFi network (generated by Airport) buy I don't see the disk.... how to make it happen ? Thanks. JP A

Power up the AirPort Extreme for a few minutes, then hold in the reset button on the back of the Extreme for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
It might be possible to use wireless to configure the Extreme, but I recommend using a wired connection. Temporarily, connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Extreme.
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen and wait a few seconds for a listing of New AirPort Base Station to appear. Just below that, click on AirPort Extreme.
The illustration below shows an AirPort Express. You will see AirPort Extreme on your screen.
AirPort Setup will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network, then announce that the Extreme will be configured to extend the Time Capsule network.
Enter a device name that you want to use for the Extreme and click Next
Wait a minute while AirPort Setup configures things for you. When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done.
You can disconnect the Ethernet cable that you used for the set up now. Things should be working. The Extreme is providing additional wireless coverage the the Ethernet ports are enabled. You can connect to any port that you want since they all operate the same in this type of setup. -
I have just upgraded to Mavericks and have been using Time Machine on an external disk with Snow Leopard. Can I continue to backup with Time Machine on the same external disk or do I need a new disk since the operating system has changed?

I found that Time Machine in Mavericks will sort it all out for you. You shouldn't need to buy another backup drive, unless you have insufficient space left and can't afford to delete whats on there. It should just work fine. -

Does anyone at Apple have help for this sort of question - I too have an old printer (HP LaserJet 5MP) that I would like to keep using on my Mac. (Mac OSX 10.6.8).
I got it working by getting a USB cord that connects to it - but every once in a while it just stops working for weeks. The mac 'sees' it and it sends the data because the printer lights start blinking but then it just doesn't do anything. Is there no one who can tell me (and raterada) how to get some new life into these old printers. I would rather not add this (and a new toner cart) to the landfill just yet. . . -
My husband and I are divorcing and we have used his apple ID for our 2 apple tv's. He changed his password and now I no longer have access to the 300 or more movies, tv shows and music. He keeps telling me that , there is no way for us both to have it. So, since his Apple ID was the one programmed into our Apple TV's he has custody to everything. I know there has to be a solution for this, because I can't be the be the only person this has ever happened too!

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.
