I did something wrong!

I have a hand me down and I upgraded it to Mac OX tiger. I have been using it just fine for about a month. Last night I was "cleaning house" since it still had stuff on here from my dad.
In the HD it had things like "previous systems" and "preferences 1 -3" and since I couldn't open anything in them I put them in the trash (but did not empty it).
I also clicked into "users" and tried to change the name from his name to mine.
So after doing this stuff I tried to open Safari and it didn't pull up my homepage that I had been using and all my bookmarks were gone and iTunes library was gone also. It was like I was starting over again like when I upgraded to OS X.
So I went back to the trash and put stuff back in the HD, and I went back to users and went back to my dad's name and still no luck.
This morning I went into users and clicked on my name and found that my stuff is still there but I don't know how to get it back up and running like I had it.
So does anyone have some ideas for me?
Also, while I'm at it, how do I change the computer from my dad and his password to my own? After we fix the other stuff of course.

You've discovered what happens when you change your "shortname" in OS X, which is Very Bad Things.
I couldn't really tell from your post exactly what you'd done, or what state your computer is in now, so I'll recommend a safe solution, which is to create a brand new user, with a totally different shortname.
Open System Preferences, and go to Accounts. Add a new account, with a shortname you haven't used before. Tick "Allow user to administer this computer".
Next, you'll need to put your files somewhere where that user can get to them (I recommend the Users/Shared folder). I can't tell where your files are right now, but assuming that you do, you can move everything from the following folders into the shared folder:
your old Desktop
your old Documents
your old Music
Don't copy Library just yet, as it's safer to deal with that at a later stage.
Once those folders are moved, log out and log back in as the user you just created. You'll see a new, blank user environment. Now, in Finder, go to the shared folder, and check the files you moved there. If you're forbidden from opening the folders, click on each one, click cmd-i, go to Ownership and Permissions, then Details, and change the owner to your new user and make sure you have read/write permissions. Click "Apply to enclosed items" too.
Once you have full access to those folders, copy everything from the Desktop and Documents folders into their correct places in your new user's home. Also copy the whole Music folder and overwrite your new user's Music folder. Once that's done, try launching iTunes - it should automatically detect your music library.
If that works, post back and I'll help you with your Library files.
(To change the name of your computer, go to System Preferences - Sharing, and change the name that's displayed at the top.)

Yes, the store didn't properly activate the card. If the store is nearly then you could try going back and asking them to do so, if it isn't (or if they can't/won't help) then try contacting iTunes Support (you will probably need to give them images of the front and back of the card, and possibly its receipt) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes

Aclocal gives warning with my configure.ac, did something wrong?

I'm trying to use my first make file, and it's my first program with gtkmm....
But I think I'm doing something wrong. I made my configure.ac file, here it is:

But if I then run aclocal, it has a problem with the PKG_CHECK_MODULES line for the GTK.
It prints out:

Update: Well, I uninstalled gtkglext, gtkglextmm, and gtkglarea and the warnings ceased, though I WOULD like to know why I'm having them and how to get rid of them for if I *need* said utilities.
But the program still won't compile.
So I think I'm just doing something wrong in general, forgetting something.

When they said MYAPP, I wasn't sure if they literally meant "MYAPP" or the name of my application, which is firstwindow. I tried the latter.
Now, are they say I need to put something in my Makefile.am as well?
I tried putting the lines firstwindow_LIBS and firstwindow_CFLAGS in there and it wouldn't even let me do make, just gave an error about separators.
So I think I'm just missing some general concept here.... could anyone enlighten me? Because I'm still not very familiar with make files...

Why was I lied to by in store reps and treated as if I did something wrong when trying to get a faulty phone less then 6 month old replaced?

I am writing to say I experienced the worse customer service ever from one of your stores!!! Not just the reps but both the day and night manager both were very rude to me, I am not going to saying I was a happy camper in talking to them but you are more then welcome to pull up the recodings and see that I was not being out of bounds with them....expecially after waiting over an hour to be seen in person then being lied to and calling back mad then next day! I have a Note 3 I purchased about 4-6 months ago that the screen went dead on. The phone still turns on and makes noies and recieves messages but will not light the screen up. I took it in the the Murrieta store last night about 830pm, after reading online that you can bring it back to any verizon wireless store for refurbished replacement. Well after checking in and witing till about 930pm (30 mins after closing) I was seen and given the 3rd degree about how I broke the phone. The representitive went thru the phone for 20 mins and continue to throw out ideas of how I broke it and hows it possible I could break it and again would ask if I broke it. After the 5th time stating I did not break it he look up my phone number and pulled my account (a while later we started) and stated he could get me a replacement by Tuesday of the following week, well that was a Thursday night and I was going out of town that friday so I explined that does not work and I need a phone ASAP. He then explianed I could pay for overnight delivery, I refused to pay for any charges as it was not my fault the phone was broken, He stated a manager could possibly waive the charge. I asked to speak to the manager, he coninued trying to help me for another 5 mins to which I eventually said can I just speak to the manager. He went and asked the manager to come over who was already dealing with another irrate customer. After waiting another 5-10 mins the manager came over and rudley asked how can I help you. I explained where we were in our transaction and that I was very unhappy. She rudley informed me that all they can do is ship the replacment and if I wanted they would ship to a venture store (my weekend destiation) and I could go piock it up from there and that it. I informed her that the rep has already offered overnight to my house by 1030am but I needed her to pay for the charges. She said fine she would and was very short and rude about it. At this point I was ****** and told her I felt she was being very rude and short to me and I understand she just dealt with an irrate client but I had been waiting well over an hour at this point for something turns out I could have done over the phone or should have as your stores dont offer in store replacement (I was told that a policy and they have no idea why the website would say come to the store but its wrong). I also informed her that it was a product I bought from your company that was giving me trouble due to it being faulty and its an inconvenence to me THE CUSTOMER....not the other way around. She said she was doing all she could do and could do no more.....NEVER once in the conversation did the manager offer her apologizes for my troubles, even after I stated she was being rude and I was very unhappy with her level of customer service in this problem with a warrantied item. I excepted the 1030am next day delivery and left. Well I was unhappy but left anyways and now its 1130am I go to check status of package and it says monday by 530pm delivery?????? So I called the store informed the day manager on duty (David <<Last name removed>>) I was lied to about a needed delivery of replacement and explained that I am very unhappy. Well turns out he had the staff listening on speakerphone as he informs me the staff remembers it differently and the manager on duty last night went above and beyond her duty by paying for my shipping and helping me. Then went on to say my screen was cracked via the notes shown which was never shown to me and they did not even have to help me as I did not have insurance. I explained the rep the night before spent 30 mins trying to find how I broke the phone and why I could have broke it to which he found nothing with the phone but apparently still put in the notes he found a pressure crack. I asked the manager if its the policy to just assume the thing is broken by the client to which he said YES, we have an extensive history with these devices and we are usually right in out ASSUMPTIONS! I informed him I was very unhappy and he was not a part of the conversation last night and to tell me his rude night manager went above and beyond was siding with his employees far beforing doing any research into the matter having only heard what his employees were talking about as I was explaining. He did not seem to care and explained that your policy are very strict and your employees must adhere to them to, guess this includes lieing to customers to get them out of the store. At this point I got his info as I seen the level of his customer support and service and hung up. This really makes me question the 15 year relationship I have had with Verizon Wireless!!! I now am leaving my family alone for the weekend and I have no form of communication as I will be on a boat off the coast of Ventura for 3 days......and I am left to think my best hope is to have a phone monday evening that I will mostly be charged full price for as the rep stated the phone he is replacing is broken........am I correct in this assumption.......Verizon Wireless Admin Verizon Wireless Customer Support

I got my iPod touch yesterday and when I used it for the first time it worked.but when I want to use it the second time my iPod is charging but it has not the sign on it that it is connected to the computer!

Yep. I just put the Dual Disc DVD/CD ( Massive Attack Collected ), and it wouldnt come out. Stupidly, i just grabbed the edge of the disc , and pulled it out by force.
I think i BEND SOMETHING INSIDE ( no crack sound ), because now my drive wont let anything in. It just blocks everything on the right side of the slot.
I really dont know what to do, can i fix this by myself? Or is the replacement drive a must...?

Well.
I got it work now. Believe it or not, i just flipped my PB upside down ( on my way to uncover it ), something snapped/clicked. I wondered if it was connected to my problem, so i turned the PB on to see that drive now ***** everything like a vacuum cleaner.
So, im ok now, thanks. Maybe this thread is to be deleted, feel free to do it. Or maybe some of my questions, if answered, might help anyone.

The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved. idefrag didnt solve the problem. Please help, maybe i did something wrong

My time Machine isnt set up so i cant back up my files.
i read on the apple forms that idefrag works and solves that problem. I payed money, and defraged my computer and i still get that error msg!

Well you need to resolve that backup issue first and combined we will solve your other issue.
Get a new blank external drive either the same size or slightly larger than your boot drive and open Disk Utility in your Applications > Utilities folder.
Select the external drive makers name on the far left and click Erase and Security option > Zero all data on the new external drive, let it complete it will take some time.
If your on 10.7, the Erase function and select the next to the far right option, that's a Zero Erase, the 7x takes too long and isn't necessary as the Zero erase is enough to map off any failing sectors.
Once that is finished, download the free to use (donations) Carbon Copy Cloner and clone the OS X drive (10.7 partition) to the external drive using the default settings, just select drive A and B and click clone. Wait for this also takes some time.
Hold the option key down and select the cloen to boot from, check it out, it's a exact copy. Cool.

You got burned, because iDefrag doesn't move data in that fashion, it only attempts to defrag files and still leaves data on the area where your trying to create the Bootcamp partition.
Your solution is to option key boot from the clone, Zero erase the OS X partition and reverse clone back onto the drive/partition. Provided you have the drive space avaialble for Bootcamp, then all the free space will be avaialble at the bottom of the drive to create the Bootcamp partition.

Ok so bascally here is the situation, I have a website that hosts in game Live broadcasts, and I want to make it Pay per view which means, i'm going to
have to control the page and who comes in a out, but unfortunately Ustream and other web channels sites don't allow that unless you pay 300$/month, which i cannot afford yet!
Long story short, I downloaded the latest versions of FMLE and FME, yesterday.
I followed the adobe tutorials and some google tutorials(http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/beginner_live_fms3.html), but i always get stuck at the same place!
I get my FME to work and access the servers, then since i am using a screen capture device (ZD soft), I am able to view both the input and output video on my FMLE, I then press start and everything looks fine and the logs show some promises, but when I open the FLV file, it just shows a blank white space and the video loader underneath! I wait for 30minutes and nothing!
I tried making a video player with DW5, AS3, AS2 just like on the adobe tutorials, but they all give the same result, which is a blank video!
Please I realy need help on this guys, it's been 2 days i have been on this and I will not leave my computer until i make the Live stream work

This method uses swfobject 1.5 to place the JW Player on the page. Of course you will need to have the swfobject.js (version) 1.5 file and you need the player itself. which in this case is the "player_new.swf
For 'your_steam_name' use the exact name that you are using in FMLE for stream
For 'streamer' use the exact same url as used in FMLE in the FMS URL.
edit other params as needed, (500 and 410 are the player dimensions)
Get the player from the JW site. I think you can get the swfobject file there also. If not, you can download from my site here:

I wiped the computer using the original OS disk so I could give it to my mom in July. iTunes worked when I did it. I just updated the system and tried logging onto iTunes for the first time since I wiped the memory. I can log on, but nothing appears on the home screen. It looks like I can download files from the internet and import them into iTunes, but I can't access the stuff I've purchased from Apple. Is the iTunes Store no longer compatible with Leopard? Do I have to purchase a newer OS to access my purchases? Or did I do something wrong?

If you are printing to physical printer from Safari : Use Reader print button from Reader toolbar
If you want to save a PDF from Safari to your local : Use Reader Save button from the Reader toolbar.
PS: if you have PDF in read mode the hover the mouse at the bottom of the page and the floating Reader toolbar will appear.

I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*

How did you open the new document? What Image mode is the document in and what exactly did you copy to the clipboard? What was the current Photoshop target when you did the copy? Was it a straight copy or a copy merge etc...
