I do not have computer but have iPhone and iPad 1. I wish to set up appletv for streaming keynotes

Please help. Is there a way to set up home share with only an iPad? I do not have a computer.

Hello dartal,
Indeed, a new library can be created on your Mac. In order to create a new library and to switch between the libraries, hold the Option key on your keyboard while you open iTunes.

My wife and I both have iPhones and iPads. Can we both have access to the same iTunes Match library or do we have to have separate subscriptions?  Our devices are synced to the same computer and we currently download titles from the same library.  We both use separate apple id's on our devices.

You need to reconfigure your phone for use with your Apple ID. I suggest you restore yours as new then reconfigure it with your information and Apple ID. Be sure to disable Find My Phone, if it's enabled, before proceeding.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

I'm assuming you have the lastet OSX version 10.9 "Mavericks." Here are some useful links from Apple I think will help:

I suspect you have a newer iMac than the pre-2006 models this forum covers (the forum labels are unbelieveably vague). If you can confirm that yours is newer than 2005, I can ask the Hosts to move you the the forum for current iMacs, which gets many more views.

  • How come my iMac and MacBook connect to my AirPort Extreme but my iPhone and iPad 2 won't?

How come my iMac and MacBook connect to my AirPort Extreme but my iPhone and iPad 2 don't?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am asking if the DNS IP addresses, not the IP addresses assigned by the DHCP service, are the same. DNS is like the Internet's version of the Yellow Pages. Your ISP typically will provide them to you or you can elect to use those provided by another source, like OpenDNS.
DNS is the service that translates a website's URL to its actual IP address so that you can access it. I am just trying to rule out that the PC is not configured properly with the correct DNS IP information.
The other thing to check is if the PC is configured to use a Proxy service. By default, it would not be.
Finally, what is the make & model of the PC. More importantly, if the PC is using either a PCI or USB wireless adapter, what is its make & model?

  • Mail on iMac not accessing MS Exchange server but both iPhone and iPad access the same account with no problems.

I have been using an iPhone and iPad to access my work emails via our MS Exchange server for a number of years now with no problems at all.  I recently replaced my home PC with an iMac (first Mac I have owned) but cannot get it to communicate with the exchange server.  I've checked and re-checked the information on the iMac and my iPad - I even deleted the mail account on the iPad and input the details concurrently with setting up on the iMac - but the Mac will not access the exchange server.
I receive the message "The Exchange server "---------------" rejected the password for user "------"  Enter you password again or cancel."  I am using the correct password.  iPad and iPhone are logging on using that password fine.  iMac just ends up repeating this message.
Our IT support at work assure me that there is no reason from their end for it not to work, and reasonably point to it working using the iPhone etc.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone can provide a solution to this basic, but extremely frustrating, little problem.

iPhone and iPad use a different way of accessing the server.
I don't know the exact details, but we are using Zarafa instead of Exchange and have the same problem:
iPhone and the likes can connect to Zarafas z-push interface, which is some identical interface to the native Exchange interface, while the desktop e-mail application tries to interface with the web front end (via http) of the server.
These are completely different setups and it depends on the actual installation of the server to get this going.
So, you will most likely need different access parameters for the desktop - and the web mail feature has to be enabled on the Exchange server.
In my opinion using the web mail interface is just silly. On the other hand, the native protocol has less features comparedto the web front end, so you are somehow stuck with sins of the past.
    Good luck!

  • Cloud computing between my iPhone and iPad with my wife's new iPhone

Just purchased an iPhone 5 for my wife and have connected it to my existing iTunes account.  I already have an iCloud account for my iPhone 5 and iPad.  What I would like is to be able to share calendars, photostream, and provide cloud based backup for her but still maintain autonomy between the devices.  I do not wish to have her contacts transferred onto my iPhone/iPad and she does not wish to have mine either.
Do/can I set up a new iCloud account for her phone and share photostream/calendar while still sharing the same itunes account?  Is that possible or is there an easier way to be able to do this?

You can leave your iPhone and iPad as they are.  If you haven't set up iCloud on your wife's phone yet, simply go to Settings>iCloud on her phone and sign in with a different Apple ID.  (If you don't have one, tap Get Free Apple ID at the bottom to create one.  This will require a different non-Apple email address, which must be verified to validate the ID.)  You can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing (in Settings>iTunes & App Stores).  It does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services such as iCloud.
If, on the other hand, your existing iCloud account is already set up on her phone, and her data is now merged with yours, you will need to migrate her phone to a new account, then delete the unwanted data from each account.  Begin by saving any photo stream photos she has on her phone to her camera roll by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud on her phone, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  Your devices will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up her new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (i.e., delete her data from your account, and vice versa).

  • Syncing apple notes on my MacBook with iPhone and iPad.Mac ap store that will sync easily with apple notes?

im trying to sync notes on my iPhone and iPad with my new MacBook pro.
Although I don't see the generic "apple notes ap" on the macbookpro. Any suggestions?

    eww,
When I first opened the mail i didn't have the option of the "go to" and choose notes because i hadn't created the mailbox.  I 've only had the mac for 3 days. None the less I created the notes mailbox which apparently falls under "Reminders".
Will this "notes mailbox" eventually sync with my ipad and iphone.  I have created several notes on the ipad but still don not see them in the "notes mailbox" on my mac?
    Thks very much!

  • I changed my Apple ID but my iPhone and iPad doesn't recoginze it.

I changed my Apple ID (email address) but now when I want to the app store on my iPhone and iPad - it still reflects the old email address. The new address, has been verified.  I'm not able to get in to add apps. Can someone help me?
    Thanks, Eydie

Silly me. So I followed your steps.. but it won't let me change the Apple ID. It asks for my password and I get a message that says that either my Apple ID or password are incorrect.
I've made an appointment for Monday at my local Apple Store.  Thanks for helping, Ralph.

  • My Icloud is messed up.  I changed my email on the computer but my phone and ipad won't recognize it and won't take any of my old passwords What do i do?

?  I changed my email and my apple id to that email on my computer- now my Iphone and my Ipad will not recognize it nor will they function using the old email and any password?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
There is no option to enter the password on the computer.
If the screen will not rotate, ensure that Portrait Lock is not enabled.

  • After scrolling down through 5 or 6 emails the text of the email is not displayed.  On my iPhone and iPad everything is fine.

The text of emails is no longer present after scrolling through 5 or 6 emails.  My iPhone and iPad emails are fine.

This is a bug in Mail triggered by receiving a password-protected PDF as an attachment, and perhaps in other ways. There seems to be a workaround, though I haven't tested it myself.
Download and run the free application TinkerTool (not "TinkerTool System"), select the Applications tab, and check the box marked
Don't display contents of attachments inline
    Then relaunch Mail.

What error message or other indication do you get that says the download won't happen?

  • I really need help from a human being in using the iTunes store.  4 years ago we got an audio book on learning japanese to play on the ipod.  Now the iTunes store just wants to sell me apps for the iphone or ipad.  I do not have iphone or ipad.  I want...

Sheesh!  This old man of 70 is really lost in how to use this Apple support community or how to use the iTunes store search.  I do not even know what question to ask.
    James Gray

Because you stated that you were looking at audiobooks that you could download to the iPod, and talking about apps only being for the iPad and iPhone and none for the iPod. So, even though the source was the iTunes store, you implied that what you were looking for needed to go on the iPod.
Look, we are not Apple here. We are just fellow users of Apple equipment. We volunteer our time here to try to help people out with issues.
The reason I needed to know what model of iPod you have was because you were asking about apps. However, unless you have an iPod Touch, there aren't any apps you can purchase from iTunes for it. And that was what I was trying to establish. Now that we have eliminated the option of apps from the discussion, we can focus on Audiobooks.
As far as Audiobooks go, you can sync any audiobook that your purchase in iTunes to your Nano.
So, as I indicated in the previous post, if you are looking for Audiobooks then go to the iTunes Store, and in the search bar in the top right-hand corner, type in "Learn Spanish Audiobooks". A list of available audiobooks to learn Spanish will display.
    Best of luck,
    GB

  • I changed my Apple ID. I can log in on my computer with it, I get in. but my Iphone and iPad don't seem to know its been changed. Creating many problems. How do I sync that info?

I changed my apple ID, I can log in on my MAC so I know it works but my iphone 4S and my ipad mini dont know it has changed!!
    Causing many issues.

You need to go to Settings > General > iCloud or Settings > General > iTunes Store and update your account information there. You need to do this on each device you have that account set up on.
