what exactly do you mean?
do you want to prevent your ipad from syncing when your are going to plug it in into ANOTHER computer?
if yes, you have the possibility to CHECK (enable) the option "disable auto-sync ..." (i don't know the english term) within the itunes' settings.

It warned me if I synced to Laptop #2, I would lose the data on my device, and the data on the iTunes of Laptop #2 would be transferred.

Hello again and sorry to bother you. I was hoping you could help me with iTunes 10.5. This update has been a pain. When I first installed it, my entire library was gone. Luckily, I saved the "iTunes Library" file before updating and copied it in place and my library appeared. But now the problem I'm having is that the iTunes can't find any of the "original" files, even though my iTunes Media file location has not changed (it's on an external network drive". When I click on the "Do you want to find the original file" I can find it in the appropriate folder. I checked the "Preferences" and under "Advanced" I re-mapped it to the appropriate location and already had the 2 boxes for iTunes organizing files checked. Then went to "File" and "Organize Library" and clicked the first check box and then got the "Copying Files" bar. When this was completed, I thought it would be able to find the original files. But I'm still getting the same error message about not being able to find the "original" files. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks again for your help.

There are quite a few third party apps that will copy media from the ipod to the computer. Try searching the cnet downloads site or other reputable sites.

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iDevice, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If you are in the US, you can do this now as well.

The internet is overflowing with tutorials on PSE. Just google what you want and include Photoshop Elements 4 as part of your search term, or go to the library and they may have several different books on PSE 4. For PSE 4, you won't find a mac specific book, but that doesn't matter because the editor is the same on either program. Just substitute Command for Ctrl and Option for Alt in the keystrokes, and ignore anything about the organizer.

I don't have MS Outlook. how do I sync

Hello, I received a bb 8830 as a gift and installed the 4.2.2 software that it came with. I thought outlook would be a part of the included software. I can't sync my calendar, contact book, memos or tasks. I don't have MS outlook on my computer.
I would like to use my bb for my personal phone/day planner/note book as I previously used my Treo. I don't currently use my bb for email, or to browse the web.
Is there anywhere I can download MS Outlook from or is there some other place I can manage and sync the aforementioned applications on my PC?

here are a few thing that you can do. you can download a tril of outlook, im not sure how long it is good for though. I do know that the BB will be able to sync with yahoo and gmail. Also gmail does have some apps that are available for free that will let you sync the calender and stuff, i am not sure about the contacts though, hope this helps, the only thing is that you will need to use the web to do this, other than that i don't think there is any other program that will do it for you

Music is designed to sync in one way only, and that is from iTunes to the phone. There is the expectation that you would backup the computer to save this data. There are 3rd party solutions to try and recover music from the phone to put back into a blank iTunes library.

I recently broke my old laptop, and there is some old music on my iPad which I am trying to transfer onto my new laptop (Windows 7).
I don't have the original CD for the music, nor is it available to purchase (and before anyone says anything - it was obtained LEGALLY!)

The music sync is one way - computer to ipad. The only exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.

* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.

sync your existing contacts with icloud, your text messages will not be disrupted, music will sync with whatever music you have on your new itunes, photos shoud still be in the camera roll (I would sync them to photostream before you sync, just in case). Any photos on your phone that are not in camera roll or photostream... if you lost those pictures with the computer crash I would take screen shots (lock button + home button at the same time) of each photo so they show up in the camera roll. App data may or may not be lost. In my experience, it depends on the app. Some of the apps recognize your apple ID and sync data over the internet with servers, some do not. I would take note of important data (such as passwords in a password keeper if you have such an app) just in case if you lose that data.
